Re: One Step at a Time - April 2019

Liz - How did your talk with TS go? How about the dentist? yuck

Pauly - I think you win the prize for your grandma having 54 grandkids. I have seen someone posting a lot about alcohol on Facebook. I hope she is doing ok.

Bird - I'm sorry that dd2 didn't get that scholarship. I'm sure she was disappointed.
I think it's so cute that the little boy comes over to play. You must be the fun house to hang out at.
Oh - I laughed at your dandelions story. You just go ahead & enjoy them.

@NoraC, wow sorry about Savannah! You're right, mama knew! I'm glad that they fast tracked everything. Just do it and get it over with. I'm sure she'll be fine, but the stress for the parents and grandparents! I will be praying for you guys!
Fifty four grandkids, Pauly? That's a lot to keep tract of! Yep, you win!
Bird sorry about the scholarship. I think she should go anyway too! How nice the neighbor came over to play. That's really sweet!
Talked to TS this morning. She apologized and did say, she hadn't asked me "if I was ok" in a very long time and she is right. We may still do the sleep over, but only if I want her to come over, we shall see. She said she is proud of me. Dealing with K, she says she understands the desire to drink to want to escape. The elephant still feels like it's in the room a little bit, but we're ok for now, said she shouldn't have gone behind my back to speak to hubby. It's all good for now. The dentist actually went well, no cavities!
Early start for me tomorrow, so I'm off to bed.
Wishing you all a great AF night!

Re: One Step at a Time - April 2019

      Hi all,
Nora, that is scary, but glad they found it out in time, and glad you are long time sober to go through it all. Poor little sweetie.......Liz, glad you got tthe talk over with. I was thinking how much of a trigger those two things would be for me. Having to talk to someone about something upsetting, and dealing with a loved ones surgery. It probably wouldn't be as hard for me now since I have a lot more knowledge of what is going on in my head, but at one time I would have headed straight for the beer store when it was all over. Funny how when you first start drinking it is just kind of a fun social thing, then it turns into having to do it when anything emotional happens. Bad day at work, someone says something you don't like, something wonderful happens, bored out of your skull. Seems you need to tamp down those emotions for some reason. Would probably be better if humans were like a bunch of chimps, screeching and running around, showing all those emotions. Probably be less drug abuse going around..anyway..be back later

My thoughts and prayers are with Savannah and the whole family @NoraC. Good thing they caught it and are doing something about it now, youngsters heal so much quicker!

Quitting and staying quit isnít easy, itís learning a whole new way of thinking. Itís accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.

Re: One Step at a Time - April 2019

Nora I'm so sorry little Savannah has to have that surgery. And I'm so sorry for the fear and concern you must be feeling. I was talking to my DiL tonight about the Elizabeth Stone quote - ďMaking the decision to have a child - it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body.Ē And how now there are pieces of my heart wandering around all over the place and I have no way of protecting them.

I'm sure you must feel like that - worrying about not only about little Savannah, but Casey, and his wife, while still worrying about your mother as well! But the little one is in good hands, and we are all sending whatever prayers or thoughts we can. Hugs, my darling. xxxx
