Night from another cranky middle aged one. Tomorrow’s last day at work and visitors arriving as well. Spent evening getting stuff ready, also got hair done on way home so ready for the leaba.

Well maybe you should. Have you talked much to your good mate that knew all about it? Or write it down, you've a good turn of phrase, you might have a best seller on your hands.
Sober time has made me a tiny bit more selfish Ive noticed. I dont completely bend over over for the needs of others any more (I dont feel permanently guilty for something). Of course I do, but it might be after I do my thing first. They moan, but they wait.
I think its better all round, if my head is in a good place, I can deal with their stuff a bit better.

@starty, every day you're getting a bit stronger and in less pain. By Wednesday, you could be very comfortable.

      Enjoy the visitors Rustop!

      Re: July Army Thread 2019

@byebyebridgetjones........bit of leftover curry in the fridge for when you for brekkie. Keep the plate...........I'll collect it next time I pop round.
Seriously, they're our babies, our cubs and it doesn't matter how old they are we'll worry. Love Mers idea of writing it down.
@IamMary.........thinking about it I say no a lot easier now. Food and music get me out of the house but that's it. Mebbees a funeral but they have to blood related. Yes, there's plenty curry left for you as well.
@starty...reportage, please. I didn't last long in the garden it got too hot.
@rustop59..........not long to the Dolomites.......should be a tad quieter there.
      @stirly-girly....where are you?

Another try at getting my eyebrows done. The woman I normally go to had a queue a mile long. If she's not available ...........I'll lie on the lawn and get Mr JC to get the mower out.
I think we may have a Bridezilla situation emerging but more of that later.

      Re: July Army Thread 2019

      Morning you lot.
Just had the strangest little mini craving on the way home from work, as I passed the grog shop turn-off. Using the HALT, I realised almost immediately that I am just tired from a rubbish night's sleep last night.
Got to say I've had it relatively easy so far. It's true that alcoholism remains hard wired inside you but so are all of your helpful strategies and sober habits. Sober life becomes familiar territory as well, it's just which life you choose to let triumph. That's why I don't believe in hopeless cases. You can lay down positive neural pathways and habits and come back to them. I'm certainly not advocating olympic level wagon jumping but certainly we should never give up giving up. Just keep going at it until it sticks.

Anyway, I'm zorsted and not long out of bed.
I will think about your counselling idea, Mary. I also like the idea of charging it to my private health provider out of spite and getting my money's worth.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

      Hello all

Bridge i would recommend counselling too. It is so helpful to just get it all out. And as you have been through such trauma and you are also in recovery it might just ease some of your thoughts. I know what you mean about sober life being familiar territory.

Yesterday i walked 1400 steps mainly without a crutch. Today i have got my knickers on. Winner i am feeling much more like moving about now so i am assuming that my blood pressure is coming up and any anaemia is resolving.

      Have a great day all

Great news Starty, Im sure your bum was feeling the breeze

Bridge - you should absolutely get your moneys worth from your health insurance. Whats the worst that can happen? (many possible answers forming in my head, including a steamy affair with your therapist )

Going west this evening, so early check in.. Back tomorrow. Later alligators.

      Re: July Army Thread 2019

      Morning all from chez Satz.
with regard to YS Mers - the answer is I don't know 'cos he's not here any more. I do know any time he's here he is sober..... but he has gone quiet so that means just one thing .... but I don't have to see it.
DD has made major move - given up her lovely Dublin pad and moved in with BF .... in his bigger overlooking-the-sea apartment. Waiting for the invite

Rosie still the light in our lives & we've begun that thing you do with kids - talking 'through' them.
"Rosie tell Daddy dinner is ready"
" Daddy is going to the pub AGAIN?"

Letting things go & living in the moment is deffo a thing with men - the ones I know anyway.
I've long since given up trying to change MrS. But since becoming sober have grown to admire how nothing fazes him too much - never lets others' behaviour bother him.
Never reads too much into anything with "he said / she said" ......

We could learn a lot from how 'simple' they are.
      Benji ....
      Doing it my way

.... the joy of being sober never gets old !!

    13. Thanks Slo thanked for this post

Look at you! Funny. Mary said you'd probably come good by Wednesday. She must be psychic.

Have a great time out west there, Mary . I never even thought of a male therapist. I wonder what that would be like?

      Empty nesters at last...

@rustop I like it when they are the type of visitors that you can still get on and do your own thing and they'll look after themselves or join in.

Thanks for the curry JC. Burp.
