What is it about Bruges? I wasn't much of a drinker in those days but we found a place with flavoured beer and guitar playing......God.

Had a fab day yesterday doing runs for the builder to the merchant for bags of sand and cement. All 350kgs unloaded and stacked by me and then chiselling cement off old paving slabs. Loved it! Today I can hardly move but thats OK

Christmas, l feel for all of you with lots to buy. We only have 3 pressies to get really and I will do that online. I am cooking the meal and for me that will be the most stressful but I break up on 11/12 so have enough time to sort out everything and maybe even have a practise run! I am making a vegan dish that I found online so hope it goes OK.

Molls is it your work situation that is getting you down?

Bridge I will still be working in the same (ish) team as the idiots but not managing them which is a world of difference and mainly my work will be on my own although I will still help out so should be good.
Yeah - it's the relationship with 'the idiots' that counts - if you work alongside clowns you can just laugh at them - no consequences for yourself!!!

Yes and no Starty - it is the work situation really - unfortunately I've always loved my job so have that as my 'happy' place when things are a bit pear shaped with the family etc.. but the happy place ain't that happy for me.. it's not just R --- she IS just a lazy boring bint -- I'm learning to ignore - and felt good in myself actually engaging in a conversation with her about her brothers baby -- (oh lord god - the conversation would STILL be going on if I'd let it!) -- but my main problem really is a friend of mine - she's gotten promoted - and she is very very briary - she's always been briary - but before I could tell her to f...off it's not so easy now cos she's full of self importance... I know she'll get over it but it's hard being uber tactful all the time - sort of walking on eggs.. not just for me but some of the younger ones are finding it tricky -- just not a nice atmosphere - but it'll work out...

Morning everyone - going to buy fish

      Re: November 2019: International Army

Morning and waves to the world,
I've just looked at the calendar and Christmas day's a Wednesday. Means Mr JC finishes noon Christmas Eve so won't have him flapping about. We've got into a lovely tradition of going to my cousin's for dinner Christmas Eve. Fish pie and the best sticky toffee pudding ever made.
I'm more or less done, just the wrapping and wondering where the divil I've hidden everything.

Honestly, I've run out of what to say to my pal. He's done four re-habs (paid for by the state), dips in and out of AA, SMART. He does have mental problems, family problems.low self-esteem which doesn't help. But don't many of us. Trouble is he's very likable, a fabulous artist and photographer and very funny. I wonder if he's full of resentment that he didn't become recognised for that.
I'm not qualified for that so I'll just going to keep up the coffees and show him that life is crap a lot of the time but he's got to find a way to deal with it.

I've been back to Bruge soberish and its beautiful. Stayed in Ostend we even went to to Brussels didn't see any sprouts but saw the mahoosive EU headquarters. Now I know where the money goes to.

      SAtz!

Awful about the farm Bridge. Could it happen to them again do you think?

Your doing the right thing @JackieClaire.. Would he have the means to see a therapist? Sounds like hes a lot to work through and all the rehab in the world might not help.

      Absolutely shattered.

      Re: November 2019: International Army

Hi Army - maybe I'll start Christmas shopping this weekend. Or maybe I'll wait until a couple of weeks before and then panic.
I'm so glad it's the weekend. It's getting harder to work (even part time) and take care of my Mom. Even though she sleeps so much, there are just some things that I need to be around to take care of when necessary. She has declined and needs help with her bathroom hygiene.
I do think I'll get some Christmas decorations out this weekend. That will be fun!

Oh - Satz, laughed at you talking about playing Word Blitz. At least you are playing something that requires thought. I've been playing the mindless Candy Crush Soda Saga. Absolute waste of time.

Morning and waves to the world.
@mollyka.............sorry had to look up what briary meant..........prickly. A duh!!! moment. No advice as you know as well as I do its just another one of those blessed things we have to deal and live with.
      @IamMary.........he's got a fully-fledged psychiatrist.

Anyway its our 34th wedding anniversary today. We decided years ago not to go all gooey about anniversaries especially as on our first wedding anniversary we had an 8 week old baby with colic. Three hours un-broken sleep would have been welcome.
But I did buy myself a little gift............in fact I got two.

Aw Satzy, well done. That's 2.2 kilos. Bloody amazing! DId you have to cut out or down on a lot of things? I'm still not sure about green plan or blue. Will stick with green for now.

Yes the fire could happen all over again Mary but most of the fuel is gone now so unlikely for several years. 'We've now jumped up a wholw new level on our water restrictions and it's hand water only for gardens so some hard decisions will have to be made about what to save in the next few days. I'll pot up what I don't want to lose and keep it near the kitchen to use kitchen water on. The rest is pretty much on its own.
Nora, I simply do not know how you work and look after your Mum at the same time. I can barely work and look after myself and the house. I can't remember if you get professional home help with your Mum or not.
