    Re: December 2019: International Army

Evening, @JackieClaire, more fool her. We have a few odd balls too on either side too that's given my mother sleepless nights. It does pass and we all forget and then she strikes again. At this stage, we just roll our eyes, but she gets a roasting from my brother in law! all in jest but he gets the message across.
Your right to let it go. For now...

    Re: December 2019: International Army

    Morning,
@satz123..........I think post number 14 puts it a bit clearer. But it can wait 'til after Chrimbo.

More importantly, Mr. JC's being audited today.............the big wigs are in to make sure he does his job properly. He went in early to put up his multitude of thank you cards and hide the umpteen bottles of whisky he's been gifted. I always think its a shame that there's no-one we can gift them to. We can hardly donate them to the Salvation Army.

He's off Wednesday and Thursday for the big tidy. And hopefully we'll get the conservatory decorated and the lights in the garden done.

My friend I was having coffee with today has bailed again. Tbh his voice-mail sounds like he's on the grog again

Anyway gives me time to take a top back to M&S......its tiny (it wouldn't fit Rosie) and also buy some wrapping paper. I also have an urge for a M&S trifle.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

    Re: December 2019: International Army

yeah - all your hurt and the reasons for it were very clear in that post - and very very understandable.. but yes - as you say - after Christmas.. and just generally - as I get older - I expect less (or truthfully - expect nothing) from people other than Joe or my own kids - and if they are any better than nothing it's a bonus.. very cynical I know - but it saves me from being hurt - I learnt that when the whole thing happened with my poxy sisters!!

Speaking of your mate that bailed - Joe is heading off to Spain with L and R tomorrow morning at the crack of dawn - he's frankly quite worried - and he can't back out now cos it would leave R in the lurch... tricky situation - told him to have the hospital in his google maps!!

    Morning all!!

Sorry for the @ but going to have to @mollyka...........hope the bug drinker (L?) there has full travel insurance. I know the EU will treat you but they'll not pay for flights home. Found that out years ago when a friend's dad had an aneurysm.
Listen I'll bet it'll be grand.

As well as being puzzled, Mr. JC is hurt............ he will be leading the 'conversation' in the new year. And god forbid I'm never going to do 'you must be here every Sunday for lunch ' thing.

Any way ba humbug be gone. Freezing cold but bright & sunny so a lovely walk up to the shops. Only frustration were the rolls of wrapping paper falling out of my shopping bag.
PTL for us having an M&S up the road.
Oddly enough the background music in Tesco was from Frozen................so I was singing Let it Go all the way home.

Actually while I was at the shops Mr. JC love the RAF and it was their charity day so I bought a wee flying duck. He needs a treat after his audit.

@Slo....I know what you mean about the breweries and the bar scene. I live in the Finger Lakes area in NY, which is flooded with wineries! The conditions near the lakes are ideal for growing grapes, and the region is popular with the tourists as well as the locals! Wine tastings are the rage, and I can remember (surprisingly) one Christmas eve dancing on the tables with the owner of the winery!
The bars here are also crowded, especially those with a sports theme. People pack the place to watch the major sports events, especially football! Of course, every commercial between plays is booze related! I was always more of a home drinker, considering the massive amounts of wine that I consumed. I would never have been able to afford the bar tab!

Not cynical Molls just practical and comes from experience. I learned long ago not to expect anything either.
It frees you up from being annoyed when others don't find what we feel is important , as important.

Anyway Jacks no matter what you say will not change how she feels. She may then go out of some kind of duty.
I ,for one, would not be interested in someone coming to see me for that reason.

A bit of reverse psychology - stop asking her and see what happens. She will get a bad case of FOMO ( fear of missing out )

    Works with my lot

At this moment in time, I couldn't give a flying feck. Mr. JC's audit went very well so we can have a happy/merry/food filled Chrimbo.
He's off for two days now. Not that he's exhausted just his firm won't let them carry their holiday days forward to next year.
