Re: Army garrison - February 2021

Morning and waves to the world,

You could have knocked me down with a feather when the letter came. Boris the bungler overbought the vaccine and they're sending any spare to African countries.
I'm even looking at dog-friendly cottages for a week in either September or October.

Another one........ Bet there's a forum somewhere that'll explain them. I did get a book about the meaning of dreams but my Gran borrowed it and I never got it back.

New or old - drunk or sober - we are here to help. That is what we do when asked.
We jabber on daily but we LOVE new posters....
What she says. We don't bite.......well not very often. I prefer the phrase heated discussion.

Lost Mikey last night (in the house) and found him on the bed settee in the back bedroom sound asleep. We'll be taking him over to meet his namesake this weekend...... the S&H.......which means we'll stand at the end of their drive while he's on his long leash. He's allowed to meet all sorts of people. The dog not the S&H.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Good morning everyone and a beautiful one it is too. Can I swop with Mikey and be taken out to meet people, will definitely need to be socialised when this is over.

So sorry it was not better news Molly, must be so frustrating and worrying for both of you. Starting my picnic blanket today, the instructions seem very complicated so we will see. Not sure if my concentration is up to it. Might vacuum up a few dog hairs first.

Re: Army garrison - February 2021

Those @@s got my attention Satz and Mary !!

So, Satz, where DO we get our pleasure hits if we give up all our addictions?? Well, for one thing, my memories of overconsuming sugars and alcohol are not pleasant ones because I took both way past the point of pleasure and the need to feed the addiction simply not to feel horrible. But obviously they do something to our systems that is perceived as 'positive'. When I occasionally have something sweeter than normal, the feelings of wanting more sometimes develop. For instance, I used to eat a couple dark chocolate almonds after dinner. But then I was having 4, then 8, then... so, I quit having them because I knew I could easily eat the whole container. I'm not running that experiment with alcohol b/c I'm pretty sure I know what would happen. But I still look forward to and enjoy my daily caffeine hit!

When I was addicted, I got very little pleasure from the things that most people usually enjoy - a good book, a beautiful day, a surprise gift, special relationships, whatever. Alcohol is such a sledgehammer to the system, you can't even feel the nice little taps of normal life. They were there during the bad years but they didn't make me happy and worst of all, I didn't really care. I feel them again now, and appreciate them. I don't think I'm wildly happy but I am content and feel pleasure and sometimes even joy each day.

I'm so sorry you're in limbo, Molly. I hope your husband starts to clear his infection soon and you can take the next steps.

All of your happy stories of dogs, Rustop, Starty, JC, Bridgette make me really eager to get our new puppy in a week or so! I still have big regrets about our rescue not working out but I'm getting motivated for all of the things an 8 week old puppy brings. I've watched so many Zak George videos and read his 2 books so I think I'm ready!!

So true NS. Not that I wasnt appreciative, just that everything was better with a drink. But if something took me away from or delayed my wine time, then my focus was gone.

Watching Behind Her Eyes (netflix). Its good.

Re: Army garrison - February 2021

Morning and waves to the world,
The S&H texted me at 8:15am this morning.
Him and his missus are taking Mikey for a walk this afternoon. We're trying to socialize Mikey with as many people as we can and its an excuse not to get my arms pulled out of their socket. He's strong and he's quick.

    @NoSugar..........puppy pics asap.

Phone call with doctor ended up with having the dosage of my anti-depressant being doubled and I happened to mention that I have tingly fingers and difficulty grasping. Could be dog tugging or it could be carpal tunnel syndrome now have to wear wrist splints overnight. Got to do it for a month and he'll see me or do another phone consultation.
    I feel a 100 years old.

@mollyka @brit you're never far from my thoughts.

Re: Army garrison - February 2021

Afternoon everyone. Hope you get the wrists sorted JC. We are all feeling our age these days. Great Mikey getting out and about, that is going to be a big problem as a result of the pandemic.

Have been glued to the couch all morning crocheting, am really enjoying this project. This lady designed it and puts up instalments every week for 8 weeks. She does video tutorials and they are brilliant. Need to get up now and look a bit busy around the house.

Re: Army garrison - February 2021

Evening all ! @IamMary - come back to me when you get to the end of Behind her Eyes .... let me know what you think.

YS is still going strong and her again sober. It's amazing really.
He's landed himself a good job but I think his past will come back to haunt him.
It's in a Private Hospital and he needs to be vetted by police.
He had a conviction for drink driving over 2 years ago and I think that will now go against him.

Molls & MsA pop in and tell us you how you are both doing ?

Re: Army garrison - February 2021

Internet down again, so on my phone.
I suppose if YS doesn't get the job, but can survive the disappointed without reaching for a bottle of booze, that's progress. What's for you.. and all of that.

Sounds like a lovely project Rustop! Great to lose your self in something.

Hope Mikey pulled out someone else's arms for a change why did the doc increase your antidepressants for a tingling finger JC? Are they related?

Good night from my ridiclous phone..

Re: Army garrison - February 2021

Behind Her Eyes! That's tonight's viewing sorted!

You know Satz, I think it depends on the organisation. I've worked for some who let folk with DUIs through no problem, as long as it wasn't assault or bodily harm or being a pedo or something.

A lovely day spent with the 4 year old niece picking my best flowers and endowing me with her views on life and her surroundings. She also dropped a few bombs about the odd thing in her Mum's house which was pretty funny. I love kids once they are that age. Dobbers all.

    A NEW MWO PUPPY!!!! @NoSugar
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?
    Rejoined life 20/5/19
