    Re: May Army 2022

Welcome back Satz! Did a summer in Munich back in college. Came home round and pudgy from beer
I know your inlaws and others seem to grand drinking like fish Molly, but are they really grand? Are they not tormented like the rest of us, with daily hangovers and life revolving around drink, subtly or not? I suppose I can't imagine being properly happy or content if I was still drinking.

Good to see deaths being recorded for what they are, how will we ever have the right data to argue against the dangers of drink if its covered up.

Skip left us today, feel a stone lighter!!

Oh I just meant that they're still alive Maryo!!! Frankly they are such shallow people I doubt they would understand that they are tormented

Morning all..Joey has taken ALL his stuff...Jilly says 'dad says he'll floor my attic then I'll take my stuff'. Jesus....anyway he says it's just a few planks she wants to store her pram and things....anyway i too feel a stone lighter with the house emptying... the charity shop and the clothes bank are stuffed to the gills!

    Re: May Army 2022

    Morning,
Well I trooped off to town to meet my pal and realised I was a day early. Felt a proper twerp. She's coming over here today in her car so we're going somewhere out into the country.

@IamMary.............its been a long time coming. Just like smoking..............alcohol is a carcinogenic.

Better go throw my jeans and sweatshirt on.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Maybe the feckers have been lying to us all these years about tobacco, alcohol & the various other illegal pharmaceuticals
Maybe in 50 years they'll laugh at our stupidity ?

Off to have a smoke & bottle of whiskey

@IamMary - I laughed out loud at that

And you are right - drinking to that extent could only make you sick & miserable imo.
I was one & have another here as physical proof.

I also have a younger brother who drank & smoked roll-ups as long as I can remember.
He's currently getting Chemo & Radiation - for throat cancer - can't eat.
    He's 58 .....

    Re: May Army 2022

    Afternoon everyone

Where has the sun gone? Doggies were delighted to be out walking again this morning . They are not used to having two days off. Good to know that they eventually take their stuff Molly. It is a wonderful feeling to de clutter and covid has really taught me how little I really need. Himself going fishing for over a week. Spending his first night tonight at the cottage. We are meeting an architect next Friday so will be interesting to hear what he has to say.

Daughters birthday tomorrow so going out to dinner with her. Nothing else planned for the weekend. Need to play catch up with stuff here after being away.

@tabbers - I think that's the point. More discussions on alcohol would create more interest.
The Army has stayed the same for some time.
10 years ago it was in flux - changing by the day - with a lot of us still trying to get sober.
Failing - getting back up and trying again.
    Sharing experiences help.

    Re: May Army 2022

Morning -- I agree with the point -- but the point also is that there is no one to talk to .... there is virtually no one posting here without years and years of sobriety -- so what's to say? I think we are all MORE than willing and happy to discuss the problem of addiction - if you look at the way we all chimed in with opinions about YS.... but there is no point in someone with say 8 years sobriety discussing 'problems' with someone with 5 years sobriety -- imo (maybe I'm being naive - tell me if I am) with years under your belt - we have problems alright -- but none of them related to alcohol or addiction... so.... where does that get us?
