Thanks Satz! Yep, its the word rather than the disease that scuppers. Thats fantastic about your bro! Is he able to lead a relatively comfortable life now? From what I am learning about the treatment, its not like the old chemo when your hair falls out at all. Its much more targeted and sometimes no side effects at all.

    Morning,
@starty................so sorry to hear about Mr. S. Sending all my love to you both.

Actually you've brought up a subject that has been whirring around my brain.............how many people were not treated for other illnesses as the world concentrated on Covid?

Thanks Jax. Just look at the excess death rate in our country and that will give you an idea

    Re: December Army 2022

@starty, I am so sorry to hear that about Mr S. Had a Google and the CLL (I'm such an expert after 5mins, I can use acronyms) is very slow to develop and can treated to keep at bay.. maybe like Satz's brother. And he's no symptoms, so a good start. You head must be melted though.
The colon pylops are grand if caught early. We test for them every few years as my mother was riddled at one point. But they removed a load of her colon which grew back in time and all grand since. An odd one appears from time to time and they get rid of it. That side is manageable.
So many treatments and therapys nowadays, a lot to be hopeful about

On an entirely different note, that knitting story after installing the computers made me laugh Molly

And yes, can we be in the buck @satz123, obviously using pseudonyms like, IamnotMary etc.

    Re: December Army 2022

Couple of folk there with knowledge of similar illnesses and deffo nowadays it's not a death sentence....actually my sister has brain cancer but she's on permanent chemo...its just a tablet she takes every day and a check up every 6 months...the chemo she takes has hardly any side effects and consultant says she'll more than likely just die of old age rather than cancer....so different to even 20 years ago....thinking of you anyway Starts

In the bed ...tomorrow is Christmas decoration day...usually done for me cos i was at work so may have to contribute this time!!

    Re: December Army 2022

Its great to hear of other success stories. Keep them coming! The research I am doing is very positive and I keep regaling Mr S with them. Although I can be annoying Im sure, he seems to take them on board which is great. I think in time, once the CT scan is done and the monitoring becomes the norm, we will be able to settle a bit. I noticing him poking his body more looking for swollen lymph nodes which I guess (hope) will become less as time goes on.

Christmas decs? I am in two minds at the moment. On the one hand I cannot think of that at the mo on the other it might be nice. Hmmmmm

    Re: December Army 2022

    Morning,
Next Sunday is putting the tree up. We've always done it late since our sprogs were a lot younger as they thought Santa would arrive once the tree was up and it just stuck. Anyway we're going down to Jenny's for Christmas dinner. She bleated on about not having enough room and I reminded her that we've had up to 15 for Christmas dinner. Bit of a squeeze and seating was a mixture of garden chairs and dining chairs.

Pa-in-law is awake and coherent again. Mr JC and our niece got the shock of their lives when they went to visit him yesterday. If he continues on this recovery he'll be going into the same nursing home as Ma-in-Law. They've moved Ma-in-Law to a much better room downstairs room where she has a lovely view of the gardens. We're nipping up there shortly. I might get ogled again by one of the older in-mates.

    Re: December Army 2022

    Afternoon everyone

So sorry to read your news Starty. As the others have said they are making leaps and bounds in medicine now. Hard to get your head around it all the same. Back from my trip to Vienna, beautiful city and so so clean. Has really put me in the Christmasy spirit. Won’t be putting up the tree just yet, a lot of cleaning needs to be done first.

I have the next two days off so might make a start on it then. Love Galway Molly, would move in the morning. Can I be in the book Satz? plenty of fodder on this thread, ha ha. Did you get ogled JC, great for the morale.

Feet up for the evening, travel is exhausting.
