Super Sober Shout Out Sunday! February 5th, 2023

I'd like to see a big SUPER SOBER SHOUTY OUTY from members who have been here a while, those starting out again or those just starting out for the very first time.........don't forget to shout LOUD AND PROUD!

Don't be shy and give it a try, remember each and every one of us here started with a day one!!!!

SHOUT IT LOUD AND SHOUT IT PROUD. STAY STRONG AND KEEP THINKING POSITIVE ONE AND ALL. LET'S GIVE OUR BEST TOGETHER

By using the time and date app........ you'll know whether you've a roundy number or not a roundy number..........Date Duration Calculator: Days Between Dates

For me (Sunday) it is 2945 days from the start date to the end date, or 8 years and 23 days including the end date.
Quitting and staying quit isn’t easy, it’s learning a whole new way of thinking. It’s accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Re: Super Sober Shout Out Sunday! February 5th, 2023

3514 days free from the chains of alcohol.

In desperation = having tried everything else, I found MWO for the second time in 2011.
All I wanted was to be a normal drinker - no intention of quitting alcohol for good

My husband hated my drinking at home - my kids were grown & starting to make comments.
So I thought ok I'll find a way to reduce my drinking every evening to just weekends when out - like everyone else.

So I came & read read read on MWO and realised I was in trouble. I was drinking alcohocially and it would only get worse.

    • I needed those few drinks each evening after work
    • When I went out I drank much more than others.
    • I would either start before I left home or top-up when I got home - or both.
    • I was hiding the drinks at home
    • Hiding the bottles
    • Lying about the amount I drank
    • Writing notes on slips of paper to remind myself of something that happened the night before. YUK

I knew from reading here that moderation would not work - I had to bite the bullet & stop completely.
There were fits & starts of breaking the quit for holidays / weddings but those returns to alcohol for short periods were disastrous and made me realise what I was 'giving up' by quitting drinking was all of the above plus:
    • Horrible hangovers
    • Shame
    • Guilt

Armed with this information and the support of MWO 3514 days ago in 2013 I picked a day 1 and did it.

Newbies & not-so-newbies struggling you too can do this.
There will be up & downs but determination and support will help get you there.
With some sad exceptions none of us are born needing alcohol to get through the day.
You can get back to that freedom - if you remember after 3 days all alcohol is gone from your body - so where is the 'craving' coming from?
It's not physical - just selective memory that alcohol made us feel good.
This is bollox - because if you think it through to the end of any recent drinking session - it didn't.

Sorry this is so long-winded - dunno where it all came from this morning

    Now off to work

4 Days, 1 hours, 18 minutes clean and sober, counting from the time I woke up on day 1

72 days free of self harm

Love the post Satz - as per my friends in the newbies nest suggestion I practice gratitude - boy am I grateful to wake up this morning not needing to check every message and comment I sent because I don't remember the conversations i had last night. Living life with an intact memory is genuinely exciting after so long.

It is 4961 days from the start date to the end date, but not including the end date.

Or 13 years, 6 months, 29 days excluding the end date.

Or 162 months, 29 days excluding the end date.

    @satz123......fantastic post our Satz.
