Some musings from the week :

So having come through all that without HRT I was left with an alcohol addiction.

When the alcohol was gone I think reality hit and I had to deal with my emotions as a grown up. On top of an overwhelming crappy work situation I had a son returning from Australia with alcohol problems. For the first time in my life I cried in a doctor's office. She recognised the strain I was under & prescribed Sertraline. Took 6 weeks to take effect. Never looked back.

I describe it as not ME who is depressed but the happy hormones in my body have somehow been depressed ( depleted) & this drug allows them to be freed up naturally.

So off up.....over?.....down?.....to Claremorris ...bit of a day out...might grab lunch.
This day 41 years ago my first baby was born...we had waited for him for 5 years so this us a very very precious day in our calendar.
He's a good lad...and in comparison to his 3 siblings I can honestly say he has given us very little grief...as his granny used to say 'A always seems to do things the right way round'.. she must be smiling from afar right now cos he's the only one who will achully get married before the babies.....she'd be delighted

I know mine would be aghast to not pay a bill on time, or drive without tax disc etc. When it comes to anything it's done right with attached DRAMA..
Example : Driving .... passed test first time - nothing else would do. ( but we were all on edge for weeks with her anxiety hitting the roof )

My theory : when they are born WE do everything by the book - so maybe it rubs off.
We take the foot off the pedal a bit for the next.

Enjoy your trip over to Claremorris.
I think 'across' is ok when you are in the same county

Think there is a nice walk in Claremorris or maybe it?s Kiltimagh, I mix all those towns up. Anyway enjoy your jaunt out Molly and delighted you found a dentist. Bet it?s hard to believe you have a 40+ year old baby!

No wonder you sound so zen Techie, like Satz whatever works for you. A good few of us have found a release in exercise. Any big races coming up Mary?

Nothing much planned for today, just back from a long walk with my friend. Shout out to JC, hope she?s ok.

I just don't want to be dependent on any substance ever again.

Your understanding is lovely, Techie. Totally in line with Buddhism, Tolle, the 3 Principles, and all other approaches to non-duality. Like you, Satz, my very logical mind/ego struggle with accepting that everything is connected. Occasional glimpses make the struggle worth it, though.

Are y'all going to jump to a May thread???

FFS -- posting for 3 days in wrong month --- thanks for your very gently put reminder NS!! and it's just lovely to see you posting over here -- we've sort of adopted Techie as a regular and I know Slo looks in from time to time --- hopefully more often lovely person!!!!

Yes --- recreational marijuana -- if and when it becomes legal over here -- I'm guessing the legal 'stuff' wouldn't be the lethally strong concoction the illegal stuff is so yes I think I would give it a go.... I don't THINK I'm addicted to everything -- no interest in gambling - shopping (much) - chocolate/sugar (much) -- all the cross addictions that rehab warns about... maybe that's very irresponsible of me and I certainly would think long and hard -- but have to say it's probably the sort of easy relaxant that appeals!!! and if it makes me lazy -- who gives a fiddlers at 66 ;-)

Gorgeous wee walk round Clare Lake up there (down - across) in Claremorris Rusters -- dentist was done and dusted in half hour so walked around the lake -- it's about 5k so just a nice little pre-lunch mosey..... enjoyed it -- there were TONS of baby geese and ducks and god knows what else there with their mammy's and daddy's --- it was just lovely to watch the little furballs trying to keep up with the growed ups!!!!! Max was fascinated by them -- not a bark out of him --- so he got a great big carrot (his ALL TIME favourite treat) when he got home ;-)

Yes you definitely sound like you have it sorted Techie -- I'm too lazy --- I think I always want the shortcut -- and actually I feel a lot better today -- my stomach and headache seem to be gone so just feel grand -- until next week I s'pose!!!!

Can't remember who else said what so not ignoring -- just feckin DELIGHTED to see a few folk here -- great getting a discussion going too --

    Who's next......?????

Just a quick check in as still at work

I tried MJ while I was in London with Chill. She uses it to help her sleep apparently Anyhoo, always up for a go me. So had a few puffs of her vape thing she uses while sitting on a bench in a park and nowt much happened. So had a few more and went for a walk. Well.....first off my legs went a bit, then my lips went numb, my mouth went completely dry and I felt like I was about to pass out! Decided I needed to sit there and then so sat down on a pavement. Chill said sugar would sort it so had a pack of biscuits in my bag. Try eating a dry biscuit when your lips and mouth is as dry as a bone. It aint happening really. A policemen came up to see if the old woman sitting on the street was OK In my sorry state I tried to pretend I was diabetic and needed sugar while spraying dried crumbs out of my mouth and trying to string a sentence together. Anyway, eventually he seemed kind of satisfied that I was OK and wandered off looking slightly puzzled. I will not be trying it again. Back to work!

    Re: ARMY MAY thread !

I am disappointed to find out that The 2023 Dublin Marathon is sold out. My daughter was not sure if she was coming to the U.S. for a six month work assignment so we applied late. I did however apply for a charity spot, raising money for the homeless, so I may be going to Ireland after all. Not sure of my chances. My daughter is coming to the states in August, so we agreed to enter The Lake Powell half marathon in Page Az on 10/14. If I get selected for Dublin, her university friend will take my place in AZ. Now, I need a good workout to process all this. I was really looking forward to doing the Dublin event with Emma. She has not met my relatives who invited us to stay with them after the race. Of course all of this is contingent on the cancer and if I need further radiation treatment. Bummer!

Have a beautiful day you amazing humans. Blessings x
