Re: Happy Army June
Thanks everyone for the lovely kind understanding words. We will adapt, it'll be a slow burner, so thats something.
I've started doing the same thing @starty, researching everything and filtering what he should and shouldn't see.
Another warm day. Have to pickup older daughter from babysitting now.
Eldest so exhausted from exams..
Night!!

I've learnt as I've got older that nothing in life is perfect....and I'm sure you'll learn to work around the condition....I may be speaking out of turn here ....but...I would be careful about how you face up to it...if you take responsibility for telling him what may be next stage it could work against you maybe....as in...I would imagine he will delve into what may be ahead and if you don't say anything he may end up shielding you?
Crikey you know your own relationship best and what works so obviously do what you think is right...it could be hard on you too tho if you've to shoulder it all?
Morning all else xx

Re: Happy Army June
Good morning everyone
God you were not wrong about the heat Molly. Was absolutely roasting in the west and the midges came out in full force. Little buggers ran me inside yesterday evening.
Slept upstairs for the first time. Much more space but very warm. Two velux windows in it but I was afraid to leave them open in case bats came into me during the night! Need to think up some way of putting a screen over them. The joys of country living.
Up very early and had the van back by 10 am. Think I am just going to chill for the day.
Molly is right Mary, you need support in all of this too. Vent away here if you need to. Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday.

Are bats in the bedrooms a Mayo thing?
Slightly nosy neighbour across the road SHOT into my driveway as I was LITERALLY moving in with a van to warn me not to leave windows open at night cos of bats!!?
I obeyed last year but couldn't cope with the heat this year so just take a chance!!

Probably because a lot of the county is so rural. Think I will have to take a chance next time too. This cottage was left unoccupied most of the year and bats actually got into roof space at one stage. We have seen them flying around so I know they are there, prefer not to have them in the bedroom though.

Oh I agree...I hate when there's a fly in the house never mind a bat in my bedroom!!! Small price to pay for the best county in Ireland!!!

I think you are right in many ways Molls. Yes, its important not to take all of the brunt of worry etc. But for us, I want him to be positive about his condition. His research is mainly what the hospital gave him which is good but not personal experiences which can be very positive. Although I am reading the good and bad, it gives us talking points and he is aware of the dodgy stuff. I think at first, I just wanted to keep him positive but over time he has taken control of his health and I can sit back and relax more. At the beginning though being the person I am, I felt the need to control at bit. Thankfully no real need to do that unless he is on a bit of a downer and I can shove some positivity his way. What I am trying to say and probably not very well is its defo a team effort.
Mary, is Mr M able to work at all? I hope that he is able to find some comfort in knowing what is wrong can move forward from there a bit.
Roasting here this weekend. After the cold weather we have had (heating on again last week) it is a pleasant change. It would be nice if it could settle so its less extreme.

I love bats. Watch them in the garden sometimes diving for insects
