    I can't drink a little, therefore I don't drink at all.

    Re: One Year!

    Ok here goes.
    I had two years sober.
I drank a drink with my brother and nothing happened. I was fine. A few weeks later I had a drink at a retirement party and I was fine.
Last night I decided to buy some wine. Although I didnít get drunk, my son was upset and my husband, son, and I had a family meeting right then. We dumped the wine. No matter what stress I feel, or how long it has been, I am still one drink away from the misery I used to have.
I need to stay connected to sober people and remember how bad it used to be. Because the time does not make it go away.
    Thanks for letting me share.

Good to see you back @Nursie! You did it once, you can do it again, one day at a time just like last time. Stay strong my friend, you've got lots of friends here to help and support you along with your family!

Quitting and staying quit isnít easy, itís learning a whole new way of thinking. Itís accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

You’re right, soon enough you’d be right back into dependency. And, you’re already back to buying booze for yourself without an occasion. Good idea to nip it in the bud now.
It’ll be great to have you here! Welcome back!
