Huge congrats on 5 weeks @New Sunrise!
Quitting and staying quit isnít easy, itís learning a whole new way of thinking. Itís accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

What forum did you post on @Elizabeth 0810? Usually people are really good about responding to posts asking for help. Newbies next and cattlemen's cafe are good ones to check out!

      Re: Mwo welcome wagon!

I posted on the "medication" forum. Sorry I haven't checked in here lately. But I am on another forum and posted the following on that one...........

      05-04-2019, 01:57 AM
Last night I drank so much with my friend. Finished at 6am on red wine.
Today I feel so awful. This is crazy. We are away for 6 weeks from 12th May.

I HAVE GIVEN MY LAST 5 BOTTLES OF WINE TO MY FRIEND TODAY.

      I QUIT!

I have valium if I need it.
      Please wish me luck.

      Re: Mwo welcome wagon!

I know it is early days, but I am sick of this merry go round. I think I am coping better with the pain of withdrawal, rather than the constant effort of trying to control my drinking.
Will try to check in more often.
PS. I have reduced to 75 mgs of baclofen which definitely helps my anxiety as if I take any more I cough so much that I am so incontinent and we are away on Sunday to the UK for 6 weeks to visit family and I cannot bear the worry of this or the blackouts and my erratic behaviour.
Have also cut down over the last month from 100 mgs of prozac per day to 50 mgs, as I believe that when I went on this after 6 1/2 years of sobriety, this caused the immense cravings which caused me to drink again. This was 8 years ago.
There is a lot of interesting reading on SSR's and alcohol.

Thanks pauly, I actually ate chocolate ice cream yesterday when I felt the cravings, not good but it sent me straight to sleep for an hour at 4.30 pm.

      Hi Elizabeth,
I’m glad you have decided to go for it and completely cut out the booze again! And chocolate ice cream is a great substitute. It can really help in these early days.
