    Re: Army June 22

    Hey Elsie ! Happy Thursday.
    Been awake since cock-crow.
Started a post then lost it.
Doesn't bode well for the rest of the day.

My youngest sister is home for a quick in/out to see my mother.
She's bringing her "arse'" of a husband that I cannot stand.
I don't hate him - I don't hate anyone but he is so very very irritating I want to slap him. He's Scottish and even his accent drives me MAD.
That actor DAvid Tennant is the spit of him & the accent the same. Can't watch him in anything without wanting to throw something at the telly..

To my mind he is a control merchant. Knows EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING.
He has to know everything she's doing. Now he's had early retirement I'd say he has her driven demented.

My other sister's husband was working in Scotland & had a heart episode and was in hospital outside the city they live in.
My sister flew over & had to travel to the hospital alone each day by train from a hotel & he never once offered a lift anywhere - nor did either of them bother to visit him while he was there.

This is completely alien to us as we would never leave anyone alone in a hotel room for a week in the SAME city.

I haven't seen him since hearing this story - so should be fun.
I'll be as polite as possible but I'm too long in the tooth for playing pretend.

One of the freedoms of the sobriety & age mix is you don't give a shit about those who annoy you & will say what you think.
And no-one can say "ah it's the drink talking" :thumbs-up:

Quiet on the boards alright. Busy day here. Travelled west, painted doors and windows and had a plumber call so productive day. No sight of the bed, I may as well cancel and buy local. Thought Harvey Norman were ok but customer service for this was non existent. Live and learn. Night all.

As usual it was never as bad as we anticipate. He seemed normal to me but my sister lost her temper with him a few times.
And then proceeded to complain about him when he wasn't there. Unheard of.
I shut my gob , listened but said nothing

    Nighty night

Thats a bit odd behaviour all right, but people are weird. Maybe our upbringings are very different, being a nation of Mrs Doyles here.

Im passing out with this heat, its like a permanent hot flush. Im wandering around trying to find dark spots in the house. What was i thinking with my notions of more light.

3 teens here @lifechange. 18, 16 and 13. Sent then to school at 5 so they complain they are all ancient now. What age are yours?
Im Dublin too. Just beside where Molly was, but a bit of a hike from Rustop and Satz.

    Hows Alfie doing @JackieClaire?

    Re: Army June 22

    Morning Army!!

was in bed last night at 8:30! and slept till 6.. much needed rest but i have quite a headache.. hopefully the coffee will help with that!
had a crazy separation anxiety dream regarding my youngest.. it was actually kind of a cool dream in hindsight.. but definitely an issue i'm dealing with in real life. also ate too much ice cream last night! and had to think of Molly with the box of chocolates! something to that, i think..
how's your body feeling, Molly, after all the digging and lifting? are you going to have veggies and flowers?

Mary, my girls are 20 and 17.. the eldest complaining a bit that she's so old finishing school!! their school starts them at 7 and she took a year off.. so she is older than most.. but in the span of a lifetime? that's nothing.. we're also getting ready for a heat wave and i'm not quite sure how to handle it! my flat has sun the whole day (except for the kitchen).. i did buy a huge fan last year.. but 35 in the city just isn't fun! can't remember if you all have summer plans?

Satz, i know it isn't really funny with your BIL, but i had to laugh at your description, especially after you posted the picture.. that's definitely not a nice look.. glad to hear it was better than anticipated.. as you said, it's mostly the case!

i skipped out on a bbq being held in our back courtyard last night.. it was a gathering of people living in our house, to eat/socialize, etc., planned by my neighbor across the hall.. i felt a bit bad not going (said i had to work) but the thought of hanging around with all of them was too much.. nice people and i've known some of them for 20 years, but i'm definitely not a social butterfly and am not really good at super small talk. sooo.. i snuck a look out my kitchen window at one point and was very glad i'd declined.. looked like a nightmare.
it was recommended by several people here to avoid possibly stressful situations for the first months.. and i'm taking up on that advice!!!

JC, i'm also wondering about little Alfie..

Rusty, definitely a productive day, painting doors and windows! i've got a kitchen cabinet i've been meaning to paint for the past 6 months! paint is sitting right next to it..

wishing you all a lovely Friday.. xxx
