      moglor - bac on track

      Hi all,

I promised I'd post this thread with this title back in 2012 or something. I was looking at my old post history, and it's weird to see myself 6 years ago living the same eternal hell that I'm in now, getting out of it, then falling right back in. It's been a wild ride, and unfortunately (or possibly fortunately,) I find myself "bac" here. It seems like a lifetime ago, yet nothing has really changed. There are a lot of PMs I've gotten, many I really should have responded to when they came in. I hope to respond to them all eventually. I would like to update this thread with some kind of synopsis of the last 6 years for me, so sit tight! It's going to take me a long time to write up what's happened to me, and I'm not doing real well mentally, so everything is slow going. I see some familiar names still posting, hoping we can reconnect. Love you all.

      -JM

PS: ramping back up at 100mg/day currently.

Re: moglor - bac on track

I wish I had a better tale to tell. The long and short of it is that I'm back due to extreme personal emotional trauma. I thought I'd kicked the booze for good, but I've suffered some unfathomable losses over the last few years, and it's really gotten the better of me. I sunk into a terrible depression, and I ended up drinking again because alcohol is the only thing that dulls the pain and allows me to continue to function at all. I have some trouble with baclofen; Because of my long history with alcoholism, it tends to lower dopamine levels for me, which makes my depression even worse, so paradoxically, the less I drink, the worse my depression gets. It's a difficult line to walk ramping up the dose while keeping the alcohol intake high enough to not fall into permanent darkness. I'm doing the best I can right now, just taking it day to day.

      Love,
      John

      Hi John,

I'm so sorry about your losses, and the pain you're enduring. No judgment on the drinking. I hope you can find a happier place.

@moglor. I’m sorry to hear you’re struggling. That’s interesting about the dopamine levels. I didn’t know that about Bac, but I’m on HDB and had self diagnosed low dopamine levels. I’m taking l-tyrosine and my doc has prescribed Wellbutrin which I’m hoping will help. Have you tried anything to help with the depression?
