What a day. Got to work and logged a tech call for our security system. Didn't hear from anyone so at 1pm called to find out what was going on. The woman I talked to had me do some tests on the unit and it was decided that there was nothing wrong. She suggested it might be our fire alarms, so I called our fire company and logged a tech call. At 4pm called to find out what was going on and was told that they were swamped with calls today and she would call one of the tech's to find out if they would be able to make it out. When she called back and told me that it wouldn't be until tomorrow I asked her if there was anyway I could turn the alarm off at the panel. She said she would get someone to call me back. When a manager called back he said yes and we went through the panel's menu only to discover there was nothing wrong. So the search was on to find out what the hell it was. Turns out it was low batteries in a carbon monoxide detector that was in the main hallway. With the echo's in the building it took us awhile to figure it out. So I've been listening to a VERY LOUD PIERCING BEEP every 30 seconds for 10 hours. Felt like I was being water boarded! Most of the staff were heading home for a drink and I totally understood how they felt, but a drink wasn't on my radar. I'm home for left over spaghetti and peace and quiet!!!!

oh my, crazy weather is upon the high desert. just on the way home alerts for tornado (one very close in Tahoe) large hail,
very heavy rain and insane wind. My house is still here thankfully.

Oh PQ, I feel sorry for you!
We have been thru the same thing with the alarm system in our house
It was so bad one day we had the fire company here checking to be sure we were OK. I thought my brain would explode, it was awful. I had a new system put in - screw that sh*t!
The original system was only a few years old but obviously flawed. Enjoy the peace & quiet & spaghetti

Mick, no, I really don't have the energy left for a puppy sorry to say. Maybe an adult dog from a rescue some day, maybe....

Mae everybody, Mick I talked to my dad last night and he sounded good was in some pain but everything went ok,he was going crazy not being able to smoke so they put a nicotine patch on him,he said its helping he guesses haha,seems like its been raining there where you are for two weeks straight! ugh! things went downhill fast last night. Wasn't feeling great so thought a hot shower would help but got all soaped up
and the power went out, so no water pressure and soap all over. neato! powered stayed out for a couple hours and I progressively
developed a nasty cold so I'm off today snotting like a snot monster. oh well.

I haven't seen any evidence of rats around the chicken house lately, thank goodness. Now YB tells me that the giant ground hog that has taken up residence there is keeping the rats away. That's good because the ground hog is a lot cuter than a rat!!!

Det...was a little worried when I read the start of your post. Losing power in the middle of your shower sucks but at least we're not reading about a hangover. Good job. I'm having cataract surgery on one eye. The drops I use for my iritis has created a cataract on steroids! Hope the spicy soup helped and you're feeling better today.

Lav...I'd be keeping the giant ground hog around! We don't have rats in Alberta although some get in with feed transports they're eliminated right away. Enjoy the grandkids I'm sure they'll have lots to tell you.

Mick...good news with the eye checkup and the surgery is a go for Oct 24th. The campsite looks ace and I'm glad the plan is still on. Your old CFB Suffield stomping grounds is in the news They detonated an unexploded artillery shell which resulted in a huge grass fire which killed around 130 cattle and forced the evacuation of area ranchers. This is going to be devastating because the land was used to feed wintering communal cattle. With September being the busiest time of year for me I was ticked when the boss asked me to submit a volunteer recognition nomination. I took a look at it yesterday and decided nope, if he wants this done he can do it himself. Instant stress relief and I don't give a rat's ass what he thinks about it. LOL Glad it's Friday and tomorrow will bring another trip to the lab with my MIL. At least that will bring my obligations to an end for another 3 months unless I find a family Dr. for her.
