      Unfortunately it was closed.

So I had to go to the Bus Replacement Museum instead.

Always wear clean underwear in public, especially when working under your vehicle...

From the Hamilton Spectator Daily News comes this story of a Burlington couple who drove their car to Wal-Mart, only to have their car break down in the parking lot.

The man told his wife to carry on with the shopping while he fixed the car in the lot.

The wife returned later to see a small group of people near the car. On closer inspection, she saw a pair of male legs protruding from under the chassis. Although the man was in shorts, his lack of underpants turned private parts into glaringly public ones. Unable to stand the embarrassment, she dutifully stepped forward, quickly put her hand UP his shorts, and tucked everything back into place. She then took a deep breath and stood up boldly to face the crowd. When she looked across the hood, she found herself staring at her husband, who had been standing idly by.

The mechanic, however, had to have three stitches in his forehead.

A woman takes her 16-year-old daughter to the doctor.

The doctor says "Okay, Mrs. Jones, what's the problem"?

The mother says, "It's my daughter, Debbie. She keeps getting these cravings. She's putting on weight, and is sick most mornings".

The doctor gives Debbie a good examination, then turns to the mother and says, "Well, I don't know how to tell you this, but your daughter is pregnant, about 4 months, would be my guess".

The mother says, "Pregnant?! She can't be. She has never ever been with a man! Have you Debbie"?

Debbie replied saying, "No mother! I've never even kissed a man, I'm still a virgin"!

The doctor walked over to the window and just stood, staring out of it.

After about five minutes pass and finally the mother says, "Is there something wrong out there doctor"?

The doctor replies, "No, not really, it's just that the last time anything like this happened, a star appeared in the east and 3 wise men came over the hill. There's just no way I'm going to miss it this time"!

Early aircraft's throttles had a ball on the end of it, in order to go full throttle the pilot had to push the throttle all the way forward into the wall of the instrument panel. Hence "balls to the wall" for going very fast. And now you know, the rest of the story.

During WWII , U.S. airplanes were armed with belts of bullets which they would shoot during dogfights and on strafing runs. These belts were folded into the wing compartments that fed their machine guns. These belts measure 27 feet and contained hundreds of rounds of bullets. Often times, the pilots would return from their missions having expended all of their bullets on various targets. They would say, ?I gave them the whole nine yards,? meaning they used up all of their ammunition.

In George Washington's days, there were no cameras. One's image was either sculpted or painted. Some paintings of George Washington showed him standing behind a desk with one arm behind his back while others showed both legs and both arms. Prices charged by painters were not based on how many people were to be painted, but by how many limbs were to be painted. Arms and legs are 'limbs,' therefore painting them would cost the buyer more. Hence the expression, 'Okay, but it'll cost you an arm and a leg.' (Artists know hands and arms are more difficult to paint.)

In the late 1700's, many houses consisted of a large room with only one chair. Commonly, a long wide board folded down from the wall, and was used for dining. The 'head of the household' always sat in the chair while everyone else ate sitting on the floor. Occasionally a guest, who was usually a man, would be invited to sit in this chair during a meal. To sit in the chair meant you were important and in charge. They called the one sitting in the chair the 'chair man.' Today in business, we use the expression or title 'Chairman' or 'Chairman of the Board.'

Personal hygiene left much room for improvement. As a result, many women and men had developed acne scars by adulthood. The women would spread bee's wax over their facial skin to smooth out their complexions. When they were speaking to each other, if a woman began to stare at another woman's face she was told, 'mind your own bee's wax.' Should the woman smile, the wax would crack, hence the term 'crack a smile'. In addition, when they sat too close to the fire, the wax would melt. Therefore, the expression 'losing face.'

Ladies wore corsets, which would lace up in the front. A proper and dignified woman, as in 'straight laced' wore a tightly tied lace.

Early politicians required feedback from the public to determine what the people considered important. Since there were no telephones, TV's or radios, the politicians sent their assistants to local taverns, pubs, and bars. They were told to 'go sip some Ale and listen to people's conversations and political concerns. Many assistants were dispatched at different times. 'You go sip here' and 'You go sip there.' The two words 'go sip' were eventually combined when referring to the local opinion and, thus we have the term 'gossip.'

At local taverns, pubs, and bars, people drank from pint and quart-sized containers. A bar maid's job was to keep an eye on the customers and keep the drinks coming. She had to pay close attention and remember who was drinking in 'pints' and who was drinking in 'quarts,' hence the phrase 'minding your 'P's and Q's'.

      MAE ALL...

Mick...glad to hear you're getting a reprieve from the rain, even if it's not sunny. I'm sure the peskies are glad to be out of their hutch. All the chores done but one, wow, that was quite a list. I hope you had a good meal tonight. Forget about the pre holiday diet and just blame the extra weight on holiday indulging. Trying to picture you skiing on a dry slope, all kinds of things come to mind. LOL Yup, it's a aooh aah ouch day, funny how it takes 2 days to materialize. I know it must be tough but you're right, at the end of the day it's their lives. I wouldn't listen to anyone either, had to do it my way and deal with the consequences.

Det...hope you were able to get a better nights sleep. I love Santa on the bike, how you. Yup, physical activity in the form of skiing which I haven't done in over 10 years!

Lav...I hope we don't get clobbered either, we could do with a year of normal snowfall. So far, so good. I love the pillow and gift card idea for the g/kids. Don't listen to Mick, let their parents take them shopping.

Pi...I'm assuming your Dad is still married. How's the new wife coping with the delusions? Get that title settled yet?

It was a good day at work, finally decided to get into setting up next year's online programs. I get so wrapped up in it the day just flies by. Bridge group is having their Xmas lunch tomorrow so it's a chef supplied meal and card playing for the afternoon. Plan on doing absolutely no work at all. LOL Hope everyone has a good night....PPQP

      Heya hiya ABerooos!

Mick, a celebratory memorial sounds positive... nice.

dishes sean connery! LOL i said that outloud like 9 times. the oddest things crack me up.

SK! you over achiever you! so glad you are communicating and resting up dear one.

Lav, looks like you're going to have to find a way to make your peace with the snow....join
Pie for some ski fun? or maybe join me for a low-tempo snow shoeing and photos. speaking of
snow one of the kiddos and her boyfriend did some sledding today at Mr Charleston. Yep, we have
a bit of snow only 45m from Vegas. (I'll be your tourguide as needed). I work for peanuts. Literally

Lav another one for you: I'm officially a store-keeper on etsy! yes, I have 2 animal photos up for digital download
and working on setting up with printly to offer printed goods from pillowcases to who knows what...
I'm pulling the trigger on ecommerce here so learning scads about it from youtube tutorials primarily.
I'll see if I can figure out how to get some free online coupons or something for yoos guys. It would help me spread
the word as I strive for global domination LOL.

Pauly, Sam, what's the good word?

was at home studying online all day but did manage a few sets on the weight bench which is good and yes
      better sleep last night, yay.

      that's the news for now

      Re: 9/12/

      Late day greetings again friends!

Long & busy days but that's OK. I am actually getting stuff done.
Still cold but dry around here. Apparently we are in for big rain on Saturday, the day of the memorial service for our friend.

Mick, I see you are still busy as well. Sure makes the day go by fast, right?

SK, we miss you too & hope you recover as quickly as possible.

PQ, I will not take my grandkids shopping - that would be a suicide mission, ha ha! Their parents will have that pleasure!
Let's keep our fingers crossed for this winter, may it be mild!!!!

Det, congrats on the Etsy store!
Be sure to let us know how to find you there, we can be your first customers. I guess you have Paypal set up too, it's easy to use.
I had an Etsy store years ago, listed one thing & got no bites. I still sell on ebay , mostly embroidered firefighter & EMT shirts, stuff like that. Sometimes it's busy, sometimes not so much. Get your pictures out locally too at craft fairs & such. Wishing you the best of luck!!!!

Hello to Cyn & Pie & Pauly.

      Have a nice night everyone.

not much aberoo activity just yet....all warming around the campfire with hot beverages in hand getting ready to sled down
the snowy hills? oh well, a good thought!

Lav, thanks so much. I just want to test out the shopping cart system and download and of course get some ratings/exposure to make
sure the etsy.com thing is doable for me. i tried to do a 'free' coupon code but it won't allow it for some reason. I can get 90% off though:
      LondonLeeLewis on Etsy
that's the link to the 2 I have up ATM. hope to have more up shortly along with print options as well. Lemme know if anyone has trouble
with any of it or advice for printing services in the meantime.
muchas gracias to all who dare

job hunt trudges onwards and it's certainly a slow time of year for such things. oh well.

it is however a great time of year for soups/stews/curries and such. I'm thinking a curry is in order.

      MAE All,

Puttering around doing small projects; nothing time sensitive on the list today. Mick, glad to hear that you're pleased with how your worktops turned out. Good for another 5 years, I hope. Your train pics reminded me that last week I joined the crowds lining the railroad tracks to watch the Bush 41 funeral train go by. It's not that I was such a huge fan of his politics, but he was a very decent human being, and held an office that I respect, despite its current occupant. Just felt the need to show up, and so I did.

PQ, ironically the new wife is now conspirator numero uno, in Dad's view. I'm happy to have been demoted, but hate that she's now a target. No resolution on the title problem, and we'll pass the contract deadline today. Barring some 11th hour reprieve, this goose is cooked.

I've got a couple of four-legged pairs coming to me for care starting tomorrow. These are some of my very favorites, so looking forward to it. Also, (I'm on the edge of my chair waiting to hear), I might get hands-on time with some of the Macau greyhounds coming this way from Hong Kong!

      MAE ALL...

Det...you've got to put the pic of bunbun in the pumpkin up! I agree with Mick, you should watermark them. Sorry but the ecommerce is new to me. Yes, I'm sure this is a slow time of year for hiring, unless it's seasonal for the holidays. Yes, it's soup season, the insta pot is calling me.

Lav...my fingers are crossed for both of us. We're still having above normal temps and no snow. Next week is supposed to gorgeous. Makes getting that last minute Xmas shopping must easier. Hope the rain holds off for Saturday.

Mick...and well chuffed you should be. Great job. What a great pic of the posers, I'm so glad they bonded. Think I'll pass on the brussel sprout chips. I'm thinking both those trains can be upgraded with chips and sound. You'll have to do up the CP train for Christmas. CP runs a Holiday Train across Canada which stops in various cities and towns with lots of entertainment. They collect donations to the individual food banks.
      holiday-train-1.jpg

Pi...good for you for showing up for the funeral train. He was a decent man, boy have things changed in that office. Too bad the wife has become a target, it's got to be hard on her. I'm sure it's nothing new to her as she has been around for some time now. Sorry to hear the title didn't get sorted, or did it? Was wondering if you had some visiting 4 feet'rs. You sound excited about possibly having time with the greyhounds. Hope that works out.

Boss texted me at 7am to pick up some items for the chef as he wasn't going to be in till at least noon. I wasn't impressed. When I got to work Co-worker was flitting around staging a seating for our Sr Fitness Pot Luck Xmas lunch. As a rule we just put out 5 tables and they're on their own. When she wanted items that were supposed to be set up for my (paying) Bridge lunch I put my foot down and told her to knock it off. FFS! Had a great lunch and a lot of fun playing cards this afternoon. I am royal stuffed and feel quite drained. Going to be an early bedtime for me. Sleep well peeps....PPQP
