    Re: August 30!!

    Checking back in -
No tornado yet, thank goodness! Few more hours to wait out the alert.

Sam, I’m sorry, kids have very special feelings & memories of parents drinking. I know this first hand from my husband & his brothers & sister. Their Dad was a pretty bad drinker & all the kids ended up with some issue or the other. His sister went to Al Anon meetings as a young teen which helped her process things. The 3 boys (including my husband) handled things their own way, not all good. I did push my husband in to see a psychiatrist to help get his thinking rearranged a bit & it was helpful. Maybe your son would benefit from talking things out with someone.

PQ, I messaged SK after trying to call her but she hasn’t gotten back to me. Don’t know what’s going on but I feel bad because she’s all alone, no family support.
Glad your day was less hectic

Hope we all can sleep tonight!!

    Re: August 30!!

Mae everybody, I wondered about SK cuz of her off FB posts, I hope she's ok! Lav, I'm ok just overwhelmed is the word I think, I'm covided out yet dunno when the end is in sight, I do much better when I can see light at the end of the tunnel, this shits scary, seen The Rock and his family all have it, he looks pale and awful compared to his usual spark, Sam, not sure what happened but sometimes it's just on them to forgive and forget, you've proved you're not the same person who was drinking and saying/doing crazy things anymore, I grew up with a drinking mom and she was horrid sometimes but I figure she did the best she could, on my drinking I have a hard time forgiving myself for what I put the kids through, I hope things get settled between you two Det, probably busy and that's good, Mick, looks nice haha, PQ, I would probably be bugging you in your office if we worked together to"hey girl whatcha doin?" haha, called the Indian clinic yesterday to try and get an eye exam and they're only taking emergency appointments so I'll probably just go back to Walmart even though that guy seemed rushed and was rude, I can't see, I went to the DMV and had to do that little eye test and it was so blurry yikes! Wishes for a great BF Fryday for us all!
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

MAE ALL....well that's it for the 1st week of school and all in all things went really well.

Pauly...The Rock and his family are now covid free and they're all doing good. And I would love to have you dropping in. I do get a lot of the staff stopping in to chat. Sometimes I just sorry but I'm swamped today. Do you have to wear glasses for your driving license? I'm supposed to but my eye doctor says you're just borderline so I tend not to wear them. Don't think my insurance would be good if anything happened so I don't drive much.

Mick...the front yard and drive look great. If you were living here you could expect to see it covered in snow Monday morning. Yup, mixed precipitation in the forecast with a low cold front coming through Saturday night. Long weekend here for us and I'm definitely going to chill.

Shout out to the rest of the gang....PPQP

    Re: August 30!!

    Good evening Abbers,

After a night of storms (no tornado) we had sunshine & blue skies most of the day! The humidity is dropping too so it won’t feel so nasty over the weekend
Holiday weekend, usually have family over but not this year, oh well. Maybe with a little luck next year will be better for all of us.

Pauly, yep our vision changes as we age too. My glasses are on now more than they’re off - can’t read without them, oh well. I have always had to wear them for driving, since I was 16.
Do you have any other places you could go besides Walmart for an eye exam? Do you have Pearle Vision & other stand alone places like that? They’re usually pretty good!

Mick, great pics! The driveway job was a success, looks great! Your sunflower has come to the end of it’s road I’m afraid, haha!
I’m also in the mood for clearing out some unused stuff around here. Thanks for the idea

PQ, snow on Monday? Oh boy!!!
Glad the kids got thru the first week of school OK. My grandkids all had virtual school this week & the reports are they did OK.
I’ll be happy to take some cooler weather off your hands but you can Keep the snow, haha!

Haven’t heard anything else from SK, hope all is well with her.

Middle age is having a choice of two temptations and choosing the one that will get you home earlier.

You know you're into middle age when you realize that caution is the only thing you care to exercise.

Don't worry about avoiding temptation. As you grow older, it will avoid you.

The aging process could be slowed down if it had to work its way through Congress.

You're getting old when you wake up with that morning-after feeling, and you didn't do anything the night before.

It's hard to be nostalgic when you can't remember anything.

You know you're getting old when you stop buying green bananas.

An old, tired-looking dog wandered into the yard. I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home.

He followed me into the house, down the hall, and fell asleep in a corner. An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.

The next day he was back, resumed his position in the hall, and slept for an hour. This continued for several weeks.

Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: "Every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap."

The next day he arrived with a different note pinned to his collar:
"He lives in a home with ten children -- he's trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow"?

A mangy looking guy who goes into a bar and orders a drink. The bartender says, "No way. I don't think you can pay for it.

" The guy says, "You're right. I don't have any money, but if I show you something you haven't seen before, will you give me a drink?

" The bartender says, "Only if what you show me ain't risque."

"Deal!" says the guy and reaches into his coat pocket and pulls out a hamster. He puts the hamster on the bar and it runs to the end of the bar, down the bar, across the room, up the piano, jumps on the keyboard and starts playing Gershwin songs. And the hamster is really good.

The bartender says, "You're right. I've never seen anything like that before. That hamster is truly good on the piano." The guy downs the drink and asks the bartender for another.

"Money or another miracle else no drink," says the bartender.

The guy reaches into his coat again and pulls out a frog. He puts the frog on the bar, and the frog starts to sing. He has a marvelous voice and great pitch. A fine singer.

A stranger from the other end of the bar runs over to the guy and offers him $300 for the frog.

The guy says, "It's a deal." He takes the three hundred and gives the stranger the frog and the stranger runs out of the bar.

The bartender says to the guy, "Are you some kind of nut? You sold a singing frog for $300? It must have been worth millions. You must be crazy."

"Not so", says the guy, "the hamster is also a ventriloquist." .

After hearing a couple’s complaints that their intimate life wasn’t what it used to be, the sex counselor suggested that they vary their positions.

“For example,” he suggested, “you might try the wheel barrel. Lift her legs from behind and off you go.”

The eager husband was all for trying this new idea as soon as they got home.

“Well, okay,” the hesitant wife agreed, “but on two conditions - First, if it hurts, you will stop right away. And second,” she continued, “you have to promise we won’t go past my mother’s house.”

    Re: August 30!!

    Greetings everyone

Very nice day here for a change. If we could just hold on to this weather until it’s actually Fall that would be great, haha!
Labor day weekend was always a big deal day with cookouts, families & friends ~ not this year though. I do hope we can return to some traditions next year.

G, good to see you here, stick around!!

Pauly, if you can get away with drugstore reads, that’s cool & no big deal if you lose them, haha! Is your distance vision OK?
I do not envy your 110 degree weather forecast, no way!!! Stay cool!

Mick, I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t find me dead or alive at a rave, LOL. You just can’t fix stupid, right??
Hope you find your little car soon. What’s the little old lady driving now? Haha!

Nothing going on here, thinking about a walk down the rode to say Hi to the horsey neighbors since it’s cool enough.
Hello to PQ, pie, Sam, Det & Cyn!

    Have a nice night all!
