Lav...did the storm hit last night? Sounds like parts of the US is getting hammered. Not to rub it in but we're sitting at 23F today, I actually put the block heater cord away.

Oddly nice day here, it went up to 50F for a few minutes then started it’s way right back down to freezing, so weird.
So last night’s ice storm turned out to be about a half hour of rain, nothing more. I see the midwest & even the southern east coast got hit with big storms & even a few tornados. We lucked out. The next event is supposed to be Thursday, 3-6” of snow, possibly ending as rain, we’ll see.

Mick, you guys will have your hands full looking after Pop & all his needs. I’ll be thinking of you, take care

PQ, glad to hear you got a bit of a weather break today as well. This winter is starting to feel a bit long, right?
Working from home rocks provided you can keep your attention on work. I have had a few issues with that over the years but hey, I’m just human, haha!!

PPQ, hmmmm. I live alone, but things seems to get up in the night and wander around! The funny postscript is that I loaded up,the car, got all the boxes I. (All but 2 completely labeled and ready to be scanned)... and the inner door to the counter was locked. Hmmm I thought, too early? No. Still Sunday? No. The Who,e,staff out sick? Some sort of a joke? I was getting pretty perturbed when some part of my brain remembered that it is President's Day. Hmph. Well, at least I like this President. For a self-employed person, there always seem to be no end to other people's holidays... ��

Be well all, crazy weather here... last evening I stepped outside to deal with the bird feeders and went down on the front steps... jammed a rib into the step, and came down hard on my elbow... but seem to be okay today. I had salted the steps, but a fine mist was coming down and froze over all my prep. Today was a huge melt day, then going down to 15F tonight... I have an early morning drive for an oil change, driving on country roads , so will be extra-careful. Lesson learned! Now I scout it out before letting the dog out... with his mobility issues, no sense adding a fall to the list! Be well all...

hiya all how are we then today? hope all is well .things are ok (fingers crossed )with Julies dad today..it has been a lovely day outside today .Went to get some wood today from a timber yard ..I didnt know that there was a timber shortage ..and yet when Ilook at it I can understand that .Alot of the lumber yards have been shut ..I also think that the brexit issue is starting to bite despite the fact covid is getting the rap for it ..They are keeping the wood for big contracts etc ..so next to the wood yard was a warehouse .and lo and behold ...wooden pallets ..so I scrounged a pallet 6ft x4ft ..put in the car ...and split it down ..wood ready for making a big door for hutch.

hiya teegee ...you take care ..as for things moving around ...we had and still get that every now and again ..I was the worlds biggest sceptic,but things happened that defy any logic or indeed peoples interference...Im fine ,though if I am honest the last couple of weeks have knocked the crap out of me...but again ..not once did the thought of booze come into the equation.....

In the 16th and 17th centuries, everything had to be transported by ship and it was also before the invention of commercial fertilizers, so large shipments of manure were quite common.

The manure was shipped dried, because in dry form it weighed a lot less than when wet. After that, the bundles of manure were always stamped with the instruction - 'Stow high in transit' on them, so that the sailors knew to stow it high enough above the lower decks so that any water that came into the hold would not touch this volatile cargo and start the production of methane.

Thus evolved the term -'S.H.I.T' -(Stow High In Transit) which has come down through the centuries and is still in use to this very day.

A Letter Home from Scout Camp...
Dear Mum & Dad,

Our Scoutmaster told us to write to our parents in case you saw the flood on TV and are worried. We are okay. Only one of our tents and 2 sleeping bags got washed away. Luckily, none of us got drowned because we were all up on the mountain looking for Adam when it happened.

Oh yes, please call Adam's mother and tell her he is okay. He can't write because of the cast. I got to ride in one of the search and rescue jeeps. It was neat. We never would have found Adam in the dark if it hadn't been for the lightning.

Scoutmaster Ted got mad at Adam for going on a hike alone without telling anyone. Adam said he did tell him, but it was during the fire so he probably didn't hear him. Did you know that if you put petrol on a fire, the petrol will blow up?

The wet wood didn't burn, but one of the tents did and also some of our clothes. Matthew is going to look weird until his hair grows back.

We will be home on Saturday if Scoutmaster Ted gets the bus fixed. It wasn't his fault about the crash. The brakes worked okay when we left. Scoutmaster Ted said that with a bus that old, you have to expect something to break down; that's probably why he can't get insurance.

We think it's a neat bus. He doesn't care if we get it dirty, and if it's hot, sometimes he lets us ride on the roof. It gets pretty hot with 45 people in a bus made for 24. He let us take turns riding in the trailer until the policeman stopped and talked to us.

Scoutmaster Ted is a neat guy.. Don't worry, he is a good driver. In fact, he is teaching Jessie how to drive on the mountain roads where there aren't any cops. All we ever see up there are logging trucks.

This morning all of the guys were diving off the rocks and swimming out to the rapids. Scoutmaster Ted wouldn't let me because I can't swim, and Adam was afraid he would sink because of his cast (it's concrete because we didn't have any plaster), so he let us take the canoe out. It was great. You can still see some of the trees under the water from the flood.

Scoutmaster Ted isn't crabby like some scoutmasters. He didn't even get mad about the life jackets. He has to spend a lot of time working on the bus so we are trying not to cause him any trouble.

Guess what? We have all passed our first aid merit badges. When Andrew dived into the lake and cut his arm, we got to see how a tourniquet works.

Steven and I threw up, but Scoutmaster Ted said it probably was just food poisoning from the left-over chicken. He said they got sick that way with food they ate in prison. I'm so glad he got out and became our scoutmaster. He said he sure figured out how to get things done better while he was doing his time.. By the way, what is a pedal-file?

I have to go now. We are going to town to post our letters & buy some more beer and ammo. Don't worry about anything. We are fine and tonight it's my turn to sleep in the Scoutmaster's tent.

Lav...managed to keep my attention on work and finished the required documentation. Hadn't realized how much it had been on my mind until I emailed it. Really felt like a load off. LOL We got a bit of snow overnight but no more extreme cold. I actually unhooked the extension cord cause I'm not plugging the block heater in again.

TG...glad you didn't loose the post all together. LOL So you have little gremlins eh? My work place has those. LOL You made me laugh trying to mail off your parcels on Monday. "there always seem to be no end to other people's holidays"...Right! It's like kids in school these days, they have more time off than I ever did! That fall/slip is very scary, so glad you're ok. Hope your drive for the oil change was uneventful.

Mick..fingers crossed here too. I think it's hilarious you found your good ole pallets! That's more your style. Getting used to this working from home. Boss is thinking come March we might do a rotational in office stint. Told him until we open the building I'm good where I am. LOL

25 degrees, a bit chilly waiting for another snow storm to arrive sometime overnight. We’ve had snow on the ground for 17 days the news just said. No wonder I’m getting sick of looking at it haha.
Made a pot of mushroom soup today, my fav! The father of modern right wing radio Rush Limbaugh died today. I actually laughed when i heard the news. The world will be a better place without the racist, misogynist mouthpiece.

Cyn, my teeth were clenching reading your post. So sorry about the fall, ouch. It happens so quickly even when you’re being so careful. 6-10” on the way overnight, watch out!!!!
I walked out to the road to my mailbox looking for mail too, haha! I never had all these minor holidays off either.

Mick, glad the old guy is OK. I just heard Prince Philip is in the hospital now at the age of 99, geez.
There seems to be a shortage of a lot of things after this year long pandemic. I can’t even get my plant based calcium supplement from the online supplier I’ve been using for years.

With the way the vaccinations are being delayed I wouldn’t be interested in going back to the office either. My daughter was signed up to volunteer at a large vaccination place tomorrow & she’s received word they’re cancelling because they didn’t get the vaccines. Pretty sad I think.

Well, the "oil change" seemed to go on a long time... this is an excellent garage, so I figured he would have some news for me... sure enough, this fancy Audi that was my departed beloved's is a tricky machine, with lots of stuff that could go wrong relatively soon... if I neede a tow, it would have to be a flatbed, not a tow. The pistons will wreck havoc if I drive the car at high altitude. (Think Tahoe). I a,ready had a sense about the car... (I mean, who has to put oil every week into their car? Well, turns out these Quattros from 2011 had a defect...). I was uneasy about trying to go cross-country in this vehicle, so at least I know definitely where I stand... thankmgoodness I took it to a great mechanic and didn't just go to the corner for an oil,change... I would never have known all this. So (after $$$$ new tires) I'll get in touch with some trusted car folk and hopefully find another wagon... I don't know, seems like too much change, but I guess better this than sitting on a roadside in Wyoming waiting for a flatbed truck to come rescue me...

Good evening friends,

Glad to be inside, safe from icy driveways & such, ugh. We had the predicted 6 or 7” of snow, my neighbor plowed when it stopped & now my driveway is pretty slick looking. I’m staying off, the chickens will see me tomorrow (they did get food & water today).

Cyn, I check online for vaccine appts a few times/day but still no luck. Hurry up & wait it is!!
Sorry your car repairs are so involved & expensive. I swear by my Chevy’s, they’ve never let me down. I’m still driving my Equinox I bought almost 4 years ago, plenty of cargo space too.
Watch your step outside, it’s kinda scary.

Lav, I loved my Volkswagen Jetta wagon... that's what I drove cross-country now, twice. But it went to pasture for some well-earned rest with some friends of mine, and I ended up with the fancy-smancy Audi wagon, a car I wouldn't have purchased, ever. So it's okay to move it along, I have no emotions tied to it, though it was hubs' pride and joy... but he certainly wasn't a mechanic! I'll be right over for those sourdough muffins...

I had a good day of getting some legal work off, and getting tax things ready to look at... As far as the car goes, I just am tired of change, and having to figure out new things... I have a lead on a reputable small dealer close by... I'll see what he's got... I'll get through it all... I just will have to stick to a lo-rise car for now because of the dog's mobility. It's all okay...
