Re: 19th Dec
Hello and how are we today then? Just had a quick look at the posts and yes we are all three of us good. Cold and frosty over here this morning, I have checked the weather forecast for the next few days showers rain showers snow should be fun in the van. Just getting stuff sorted out for tomorrow to take away with us, Julie keeps haha trying to remind me it's just up the road
Hiya ppqp how are you today then? Hope you are good. That's good news for the economy over there that at least there are going to be some troops training at batus plus without any bias I thought it was absolutely brilliant and most of those that I served with did too full stop interesting that they have dropped the 6-months gap before you can get a booster down to 5 months I think it's the same the world over they are trying to save the economy but at the same time trying to see see what the minimum levels of protection are for people full stop over here they have just dropped the 10-day isolation down to 7-days just looking at your reply to lav..hope its all positive. Eeeeeeek. Yes Worzel has said there will be no restrictions before Christmas you can bet your bottom dollar there will be Boxing Day or the day after. Take care and look after yourself in the deep freeze with status quo good group by the way haha
Hiya lav you sound like one real on happy lady and rightly so. I certainly wouldn't bloody except that didn't have the time to get the 10-year-old vaccinated when the 13 year old has had two none of my business really but I would suggest children's health comes priority. Have you tested yourself? And there was me thinking that was you talking nice haha seriously though you look after yourself.
Hiya to all of the rest of the gang...hope you areall doing ok x

Re: 19th Dec
Greetings friends,
Cold & windy here, finally haha!!! We just took a ride thru the Herrs factory Christmas lights, very pretty displays & it’s free, LOL
We have been face timing with the sick kid, he seems to be doing OK. Yes, I am still pissed off about this, not fair to the kid or any of us.
Mick, I think it’s still a 10 day isolation here but no matter. He has to miss everything.
We ALWAYS put the kid’s health before anything & everything. Doesn’t every parent or am I just deluded?? We have test kits here & will use them Friday morning so we can let our daughter know it’s safe or not.
PQ, hope the booster went well for you. We have to do everything we can to keep ourselves safe during this mess.
Staying home sounds like a good idea until this Omicron variant wears itself out.
Hello to Cyn, hope your trip is going well.
Pauly, Det, Sam, Pie & everyone hope you are all well.
Have a nice night all!

Re: 19th Dec
Mae all -
Sorry to be out of touch... getting ready, getting all in the car on Monday (plus 2 boxes mailed) took the starch out of me. Then started out early on Monday, was exhausted after the 7 hour drive to Youngstown, got up and did a shorter drive today... in Joliet, IL now (south and west of Chicago). Though tired again, I'm trying to stay up for a few more hours (changed time zone) so that I don't wake up while it's o'dark outside. With these cold temps, I need to wait until the sun is up and the roadways are safe.
PPQ, my gosh, what a cold wave you will be enduring!!! No fun! I'm glad to hear that you were able to pick up supplies and are ready to stay in and hunker down. Good luck with all.
Pauly, thanks for dropping in - sending you good wishes, and an AF holiday as well...
Lav, unbelievable! But this Omicron thing is so very hard to track, and the breakthroughs rare happening to everyone. After reading 2 articles in the Atlantic, I wrote my family... ideally, I would sequester and test everyday before being close to anyone... it seems that Omiceon flourishes so quickly when it decides to "go" that the test can change from morning to night. I don't want to expose my whole family! So we'll see. I had a negative rapid test on Monday, will do another rapid test tomorrow (I should arrive to my family tomorrow night) and try to get a PCR test on the 24th. Then will buy more rapid tests and do them each day until we're sure I'm in the clear. Or I'll just sequester in my brother's loft space,
. Whatever. Who knew my first Christmas with family would be so fraught!! So sorry for your change in plans... does the dinner they brought over mean that you might have been exposed? Aaaaargh! Hope not!
Mick, that fog was awesome, if annoying. Your find makes me think of part of the Xmas carolers song "...if you haven't got a penny, a ha-penny will do, and if you haven't got a ha-penny, then god bless you..."
Sending good wishes to all - hoping the lead-up to Christmas will be healthy and happy...

MAE ALL...
Mick...good luck with your travels tomorrow. Isn't Julie right? Didn't you come back and forth the last time you were out there? You set the precedent. At least you're not looking at the bitter cold that's going to settle over us for the weekend. I think the push is on to get everyone triple vaxed as soon as possible. Same old shit here, the Premiere suggested businesses cancel their Christmas staff parties yet his political party held a 200 person Christmas party in Edmonton the next day. The one scheduled for Calgary today was cancelled. What a shock.
Lav...had to check out Herrs factory Christmas lights, sounded wonderful. Here's what I found...
lav.jpg
I'm glad your grandson is doing ok and you're right it wasn't fair to anyone. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the booster, they had run out. Since I'm not going anywhere or seeing anyone I was ok with that. I can wait.
TG...don't you worry about being out of touch, we know you'll check in when you can. Hope you can sort your time zone/sleeping patterns out, you're absolutely right to be waiting for sunlight to drive. Such a frustrating time for families but you are doing everything right. I'm glad you're able to get the rapid testing and PCR tests, we're having a tough time with supply here. Drive safely.
Popped over to the community centre and even though we're still out one furnace (we have 4) we're doing ok. Have heat going through hallways and adjoining rooms so everything's ok for now. No luck for my booster so picked up a few staples so I didn't have to go out again. It was a mad house everywhere. I'm sure everyone was thinking the same thing, get it done before the temp drop.
Got home around 1pm and have been listening to my oldest son loose it on a phone call. This continued till 5:30pm and to be honest I'm a little concerned. I know he was talking to a friend and I don't eavesdrop but with intermitted ranting and raving it wasn't hard to over hear things. A couple of comments were "I don't want logic, I'm hurting and just want comfort and support". "I'm broken, lost my house and the f*king government wants to lock me in it. If I disagree they'll kill me." I know he hasn't dealt with his finances in regards to his property and 2 years of Covid has had it's toll. I went upstairs about an hour ago just as he was yelling he'd had enough and would talk or not later. I opened his door and said I too have had enough. I try not to react when he gets this way, usually makes things worse, but didn't want the neighbours phoning a complaint into the cops. It's now 6pm and all is quiet upstairs, the call must have ended. I'm hoping the emotional stress he just went through has worn him out and he's sleeping. I'm not sure how to help him but will try to have a talk in the morning. Just going to be supportive and listen. May talk to a crisis councilor after that for advise. All kinds of public announcements about reaching out for things like this.
Thanks for being here so I could share what's going on and not feel so alone.
Hoping everyone is staying healthy and warm. Have a good night all....

Re: 19th Dec
Greetings friends,
We did A Christmas gift drop off on their front porch this afternoon. Texted my grandson & he opened the door & got everything right in, haha. He looks pretty good & I’m grateful for that.
We will be doing our own home tests in the morning so I can let my daughter know if it’s safe to drive out tomorrow. I sure hope so. Still chilly here, supposed to be a damp Christmas, no snow.
Cyn, glad you’re taking the trip as easy as possible. We just want to know you’re safe.
It’s been such a harsh year I really hope you can gather with family & relax a bit once you arrive. Stay safe
Mick, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for some drier weather for your getaway. Thanks for the video
PQ, yep, that’s the Herrs factory. You drive thru all the windy roads on their campus & get to see all the pretty lights without doing any of the work, haha!
I’m sorry your son is having such a difficult time right now. Holidays can make small things look much bigger than they really are. Helping him get in touch with someone he can talk to is a great idea.
Sorry you couldn’t get your booster. We were able to make online appts at Walgreens for ours, made it pretty easy. Maybe something will open up for you next week.
Hello to Pauly & Det, Sam & PIe.
Hope everyone has a nice night!

Re: 19th Dec
MAE ALL...
Cooler today and temps are continuing to drop. It started snowing around noon and hasn't stopped. It's the light fluffy kind and is making everything glisten. Deep freeze sets in tonight and will be here for at least a week.
Lav...I'm glad your grandson was looking good when he picked up the gifts, that's should ease your mind. Hope your rapid tests are negative tomorrow so you all can get together. I definitely prefer the snow to your damp weather, but then again I don't have to go anywhere. Son came down and apologized for the ranting and raving. I think it helped him to get all those feelings out. He and his brother have done a lot of talking today and from what I've heard it's been very positive. The whole house is a lot calmer today. Supposedly new shipments arrived for the vaccine today so I will see when I can get in for my booster.
TG...continuing to send you positive vibes for your trip. Hope everything is going ok.
Wishing Mick, Pi, Sam, Det, QW and Pauly a peaceful evening....
