    Re: July 17th

    Good evening friends,

Yep it’s still hot & humid, last night’s rain totaled about 1/2” & it didn’t cool off a bit.
Staying home for the most part but will be heading out for lunch tomorrow with old friends. Haven’t seen them for a few months so it’s time.

PQ, honestly my 11 yr old grandson does a better job vacuuming than his grandfather, haha. The old man forget the corners, he only cleans the middle of the rooms so why bother?? Lol
Taking hump day off sounds like a good plan, why not? I did have a few people Saturday ask about Christmas gifts. But I told them I’m not in regular business anymore so I can’t buy wholesale so easily. Besides people used to drive me nuts, showing up at my house on Christmas eve with requests - nope!!! Done with that!

Cyn, I don’t think we are ever going to see things go back to ‘normal’. Our memories will have to be enough I guess. I’m more concerned about the young ones, what conditions will they have to deal with? So sad. I hope you’re taking it as easy as possible

Mick, thinking about all of you dealing with the extreme heat. I imagine Julie’s dad must be somewhat shocked & confused with this mess.
    Stay as cool as possible.

Pauly, Sam & Det - thinking of you!

    Have a decent night!

    MAE ALL...

TG....I like the way you put England to be England, Prairie to be Prairie unfortunately I think the normal days are gone and a new normal will emerge. I'm just glad I'm not raising a young family right now. I hope you're looking after yourself and soon you'll be home to start your new normal.

Mick...I hope you guys are staying safe and out of the heat as much as possible. They were interviewing people on the tube and I know I sure wouldn't want to be riding one of those. I was complaining about 35 but to be honest it went on for about 3 weeks. Hope your heat wave is over soon. I'm putting a g.PNG on your post, no mention of hitting your noggin today.

Lav...good answer on the Xmas requests, save those for special friends. Hint, hint. LOL I've been trying to get our Xmas Craft Sale organized but keep getting interrupted. Want to get the word out as soon as I can, the success of a good craft fair is the marketing. Nice that you're going to get out with friends for lunch tomorrow. Going anywhere special? They announced today that anyone over 18 in Alberta can get their second booster or 4th covid vaccine. I was not planning on getting it but with the new BA-5 out there I've been rethinking things. Either that or wait to see if they come up with one targeted for the new variant.

We started renting out our commercial kitchen in May and the renter we got is something else, lots of little issues. Yesterday the Health Inspector came by to do our routine inspection but said she had been waiting for our renter to submit his forms so she could do both at the same time. He's been avoiding her and she finally gave up and cancelled his permit. So we didn't let anyone in the kitchen this morning and after a lot of whining to the boss (who shouldn't have let them in in the first place) he let them go ahead. The mother had to call in a lot of friends to help as she didn't get started till noon. 4 friends came with 1 or 2 kids each in tow. OMG, the in and out of the kitchen, the yelling and goofing off in the halls drove me crazy. I finally packed up and said I'm going home before I throttle one of them and my supervisor has to discipline me. That won't be happening again.

Thinking of Sam, Det and Pauly. Have a good night all....PPQP

    Re: July 17th

Hello everyone..hope you are doing good. Well the temperature has dropped..40.2 yesterday...today it's down to24..Still hot, but not as bad as yesterday. Didn't sleep at all last night, we shall see what tonight brings.
Yesterday I saw this bunch.the reservoir is pretty low, so no doubt the next thing will be a drought .despite all the warnings I saw this. A load of adults with their kids in the reservoir. There's signs all over the place no swimming. And the news is full of instances of people getting into difficulties.
Cleaned the roof of the van this morning.

Hiya ppqp how are you then?sounds like you have had enough at work !!!take it steady. Xx

Hiya lav...How's you then?hope all is well. I'm shattered...I cant keep my eyes open

    Re: July 17th

    Greetings friends,

It hit 93 humid degrees today, ugh. Sunday will be 96 degrees they say, double ugh!
I did get out to meet my friends for lunch today, we had a greta visit. We always meet up at an Applebees near Longwood Gardens - it’s the half way spot between our homes

PQ, while I was out today, little did I know that YB was working up an embroidery job for me, haha!! The guy who lives directly across the road from us is looking for T shirts for his employees. The town embroidery shop really did a crappy job on his last order - so I hear, haha! I’m happy to do those shirts for him since he’s kind enough to plow out our driveway after a big snowfall & he’s just a good neighbor.
I hope you can get your Xmas craft fair going, people seem to really like them. As far as the boosters go I’ve had 2, YB refused the 2nd but i’m still pestering him about that. At this point there should be enough vaccine to cover everyone, Covid is going to be around for a long time I think.

Mick, sorry you’re sweltering over there. Could you even buy a window air conditioner if you wanted one? You can only go so long without sleeping & not be a danger to yourself. Perhaps a small unit for a bedroom window would be worth the cost to buy & operate when it’s this bad outside.
Yeah, your water levels are looking kinda low, I’m sure that’s unusual. So far our reservoirs are looking good. Your rose looks great & exactly what my new rose was supposed to look like, Lol. I’ve had 2 buds open & they were both a solid color. Very nice

    Cyn, thinking about you!

Pauly, Sam & Det, hello to all of you.

Stay as cool as possible everyone.

    Re: July 17th

    MAE ALL...

Mick...that's quite a drop in temperature. I hope it helps a little. Any chance of a window air conditioner like Lav suggested? I just don't get some people, especially when it puts rescuer's lives in jeopardy. I have notice a lot more "Entitled" attitudes than ever before. You must have cleaned the outside of the roof on the van because yet again another day of no nogg'n damage. LOL A co-worker of mine has a saying it's not in my circle not my responsibility. I've adopted that attitude, here's my circle, nope sorry you're not in it so not even thinking about it.

Lav...glad you had a good time today. Good old YB. LOL That's great that you'll do them and you're right it's more of a neighbour repayment for services rendered. Always good to have that snow removal option available. Yes, I'm leaning towards getting the 2nd booster only because of my own health issues not because it'll combat the BA-5 virus. I'm thinking covid vaccine will become part of the annual flu shots.

Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a good night all....PPQP

    Re: July 17th

    morning all,
checking in to see how everyone is surviving the heat. Sounds pretty awful, Mick. We don't have AC either. Lots of cold baths!

Start a cardio rehab program today. Sure hope Medicare picks up these bills. I think I will call them and make sure before getting into this too far. Today is just disorientation. My son bought me a Fitbit to keep on eye on heart rate but more intriguing is the step counter, very addicting to see how many steps. I don't understand how to really use all the features, kinda like my phone.

PQ, I believe you're right about covid shots being an annual event. Lav, I got to do the, get the 2nd one. I need to do the shingles thang as well. So many shots, so little time.

    be well friends

    Re: July 17th

Hello everyone and how are we today then? Got up this morning and guess what it was raining! a well needed break the temperatures are going to rise again slept well last night and even the rabbits have been out in the rain this morning

Hiya lav and how are you today then? Yes that Rose is one of my favourite without any doubt. As for the air conditioner, if the weather continues the waiters we are going to buy a proper unit. The houses we have have are built to maintain and hold heat not let it out. And that obviously causes an issue fans only recirculate the air that is going round the place as opposed to cooling it. Yes the water levels are pretty low, which I'm sure we'll start a water shortage campaign! As for the boosters, I'm with you. The virus will be here for a long time, well after me and besides the boosters are free anything with a price tag like that that's well within my range! Haha you take care

Hiya Sam how are you doing my friend? Hope all is well with you. Yes you are right fitbits and things like that are very addictive Julie has got one and it has got an ECG on it as well in fact the only thing it doesn't do it hoover up and wash dishes that's still my job. The 10000 steps that it tells you to do do, as a target was actually the brainchild of a Japanese guy who was told to just think of a number there is no actual fitness to step reason why it was that at. More so you take great care my friend

Hiya ppqp and how are you ? Yes you are right the roof of the van was cleaned yesterday, as well as the sides I was going to say no where could I buy my head but let's not tempt fate. As you say nowadays there is a lot more or of I am entitled to this that and the next thing as opposed to having to work and save up for stuff, and the other side of that is crime to pay for it and also the theft of items from people full stop it seems to be a lot more prevalent nowadays. You take care and look after yourself.

A big hello to everyone else..pauly teegee etc

    Re: July 17th

    Hey all,
Today was day 4 of the heatwave - only 4 days to go they say, LOL
I’ll probably be in a puddle of sweat by then, geez! My poor chickens look like they’re in shock. I’m trying to keep up with the cool treats for them. The dog comes in with her tongue hanging out, haha.
So President Biden tested + for Covid today but he says it’s mild so far. They put hm on the antiviral Pavlovid which is good. I will be tuning in tonight to the congressional hearings again - getting very interesting info coming out.

PQ, the Polish say Not my monkey not my circus, haha!!! I think about that saying a lot
I haven’t ordered from any wholesalers for quite a while (pre-pandemic I guess was the last time). I was shocked looking at their inventories last night. I’m going to have a hard time finding the safety green shirts they want, wow. Glad I’m not in regular business anymore, it’s frustrating. Every company I looked at had zero L & XL shirts.

Sam, I’m glad to hear you’re going to cardiac rehab. SO many people skip that step thinking they don’t need to go but it’s important. You want to prevent another MI, am I right? If your doc ordered rehab for you then it should be covered. Here’s a little info: NCD - Cardiac Rehabilitation Programs (2.1)
Good luck!! My daughter works in physical therapy & says anything over 7,000 steps daily doesn’t really help so I’m taking her word for it hahah!!

Mick, glad you got that rain. We’re going to be wishing for some after 8 days of this heat, yuck!
I think we all need to make adjustments if we plan to live thru these horrible heatwaves. We have good insulation in this house so it stays warm in the winter when the heat is on & cooler in the summer when the AC is running. I’m getting all the vaccines & boosters I can get because I hate being sick.

Cyn, hope yuo are doing OK.

Pauly & Det, hello to yuo two.

    Have a good night all!

hiya everyone ,how are we doing? hope all is well.Raining here again today,no complaints from me.rabbits arent too impressed ,but hey ho.I see the judgement on Trump is hitting the news over here. The biggest worry is that they are dsaying he has a chance of running again in 2024..Im sure we have a double over here in Boris..another one with a narcissist and grandiose personality.

hiya Lav ..how are you today then? how are the chickens doing?hopefully you will get the rain soon too.yes you are right in as much as we need to adjust our lives according to the climate, not the other way around .

hiya Sam ,how are things going with you mate?stay safe and look after yourself .stick with the programme mate .

hiya pauly and teegee how are you both doing? stay strong ..

hiya ppqp...how are you then ? o k I hope bridge day is it?go for it hope you win,.

have a safe weekend folks .

Tonight I'm cooking dairy-free haricot pizzas for the family.

Sounds a lot better than beans on toast.

Just had a 'Traditional English Breakfast...

Three quarters of a can of flat Stella, and half a cold kebab.

I don't like being in my hot tub when it rains.. because I might get WET !
