    Re: 4th June

    Mae all -

Happy Friday evening to all -

Pi - sending solace vibes to you, and hugs -

Lav, it will be great to hear how your Amaranth experiment goes. That's one of the most ancient grains, isn't it? Here's hoping that you are continuing to see progress on the smoke front.

PQ - congrats on everything - of course you are exhausted! Wow, it sounds like you've been "pedal to the medal" - I hope you can catch some rest in between things at the Craft Show - sending you good energy.

Mick - good news about Julie's dad doing okay in the new situation... I'm sure things will go up and down by a bit. It was great to hear that Julie had a good sleep - hopefully now she will be able to worry less... and sorry about the 5:00 wakeup for you! I woke up and thought I had overslept for a 9 AM appointment; ran around the house getting stuff together and saying some not-very-nice things to myself about myself... then looked at the clock and it was in actuality 3:30 AM... sheesh. (Oh, and about that picture... I'll be right over! And horses that visit too!)

NS - wishing you safe travels, enjoy!

Wags - sounds like you need a very deserved rest... hope you can get some 'me' time...

We are having smoke on and off.... I had to get up in the night to close a window that I had left open for the cooler air... sometime in the night the smoke arrived, so the window got closed quickly.

Sam, Det, Pauly, and anyone else dropping by - hello!
    Wishing all well -
    TG

    Re: 4th June

    MAE everyone,

Seems like folks are doing well for the most part - a great way to end the first full week of June! Today was my last hard day of work for awhile and I'm pretty tuckered but happy. I have most of the weekend off and plan to spend it relaxing, hopefully a bike ride, maybe setting up part of my new office space, and working in our veggie garden. Tomorrow I'll go see my dad for a bit too.

Safe travels NS and hopefully safe air coming to Lav and others under the smokey skies.

    Catch you all tomorrow!

    Re: 4th June

Here’s my haul from nearby community garden.IMG_9232.jpg. The herbs, chives, basil, thyme got turned into pesto. Used some tomatoes in a lentil salad, green tomatoes will get sliced, breaded, and fried, roasted the peppers and eggplant (not pictured), cabbage and carrots are destined for a slaw. A week?s worth of great food and fun in the kitchen.

Mick, saw many marigolds among the veggie plants, and knew why they were planted!

Lav, so glad to hear smoke is clearing. Heard lots of news coverage including flight delays from NY to DC!

PQ, best wishes for a successful garage sale!

NS, it was humbling to return to MWO in such a sorry state, but don?t think I?d have gotten a foothold back to AFness, without my friends here.

Shoutouts to Slo, TG, Steady, Wags, and everyone stopping by.

    Re: 4th June

Hello everyone and how are we today then? Hope everyone is doing okay. And absolutely gorgeous day here today 27 degrees northunderstorms yet despite the fact it was supposed to be cloudy and stormy at the moment it is blue skies 27 degrees and not a drop of rain. Spent more stop this morning polishing out some scoff marks on my car that some kind person had obviously done in a car park full stop fortunately they had not dented the bodywork and the scratches were only surface so I've managed to get 99% of them out. All the horses escaped from the field behind our house yesterday. A crazy story but one field had got one horse in it the other had got 11 in it. The one on its own managed to break out of the field, and go down a foot path past the metal gate into the other field pushed it open and the whole lot escaped, straight down the road past our house it was like the okay corral! I saw them, ran out randown the road comma and there must have thought who is this not guess turned around and ran back up the road! By this time Julia had phoned the riding school, and they then came up. It looked good, but could have been a heck of a lot worse if they had gone all the way down to the main road.

Hiya lav how are you doing today? Hope all is well over there glad the air quality has improved for you. Yes, it will take time for Julie's dad to adjust, at least we know he is looked after properly. Looks like I might be begging thunderstorms from you!

Hiya ns enjoy your holidays wherever you go. What kind of van have you got?

Hiya pie how are you today then? Hope all as well full stop that was quite some whole you got yesterday! Well done. Yes the managed are definitely sacrificial plants. Have a great weekend

Hiya slo how are you today then? Hope the weekend is being kind to you. Stay positive, go out and enjoy yourself but to be careful with that sore knee! No jumping around or bopping!

Hiya wags. How are you doing? Sounds like you have got the weekend routine mapped out for yourself hope you enjoy it better still why not set your office up in the veggie garden. Hope things are alright with your dad

Hiya ppqp, how are you doing today?has the smoke all gone? Any plans for the weekend? Skydiving triathlon or the such like? Take care have a great weekend no matter what you are doing

Hiya tg how are you doing today? Hope all as well are you on your travels or planning the next one? I was up early again this morning, but actually I don't mind it at all. I love seeing the day coming in before everyone ruins it. No noise save the birds that are no planes coming over at that time and morning and then the human cacophony starts! Take care have a great weekend

Apologies to anyone I have missed, but I have done this on my phone and the post runs over two pages, so if I turn back then I lose my post take care have a good weekend

    Re: 4th June

MAE ALL…got to work around 7am, got all the signage and balloons set out, vendors arrived around 8am to set up and at 9am we had people waiting to come and shop. YAY! A little nervous when the weekend staff didn’t show up at 8 but she arrived just before 9 with apologies, bus delays. She had texted the boss and he replied don’t worry PQ is on site. Was going to go back to help with the memorial but have decided nope, the boss is on site. LOL

Slo…you made me laugh when you said you were spending your Friday night watering the lawn. Banff, a town west of us, has ordered a no watering ban and there’s talk we may be next. When you posted that you water your own lawn at your condominium, I walked out the next morning, looked at all the grass around us, and thought, I’ve never seen the grass being watered. Decided I need to investigate that, have a neighbour who knows everyone and everything. LOL

TG…glad to see your post. Thanks for the congrats it does feel like a lot has been going on lately. I am taking the rest of the weekend off, not taking any work calls. Hope you are getting some YOU time.

Wags…I plan to spend the rest of the weekend relaxing as well. I haven’t biked in years but working in the community garden will be enough physical activity for me. Is your Dad close to you? We were able to get my Dad into a Veterans care facility with escalating support as needed. It was just down the hill from where I live and work. Spent every Saturday morning there for 2 years before he passed.

Pi…we barely have anything coming up in our community garden. Good haul! I’m so impressed with your menu; I wish I had more smarts when it came to cooking. I’m one of those who measures the water when making Kraft Dinner! Seems like the garage sale was off to a good start. The real work will be the community cleanup next weekend. I’m slowly losing volunteers so have to get creative recruiting some more now.

Mick…is it great when the weatherman’s prediction is wrong in your favour! Gotta love those car parks, glad you were able to polish out most of the marks and that it hadn’t dented the bodywork. When I bought my very first new vehicle, after my divorce, I treated it with kid gloves. Then dealing with my ex-MIL in the hospital ended up getting the drivers side door scraped. It was a freeing moment, parked anywhere I wanted in car parks after that. LOL Good job on redirecting the horses before it got worse. You managed to stave off a lot of work. We’ve been clear of smoke for awhile but there was a bit in the air this morning. One of the northern fires has flared up again with mandatory evacuation. It’s nothing compared to what’s happening in the east.

Time to go refill the propane tank as I plan on BBQ’ing tonight. Have a great Saturday all…PPQP

    Re: 4th June

    Greetings friends,

Grateful to be sitting outside with the hummingbirds again now that the air has cleared. Sunny with a high of 81 today, not bad. Last evening a thunderstorm showed up, one clap of thunder & lightning & it rained all of 2 minutes, geez. Meanwhile the grass gets browner & crunchier.

PQ, sounds like Doug is depending on you an awful lot….maybe even above your pay grade? Time to talk about money with him again I think.
Glad to hear the rest of the weekend is all yours

Mick, having a horse farm right across the road from me I hear you about when those horses get excited. Found 2 in my backyard last year, no big deal haha. I do worry about get them getting hit by cars & trucks though. There’s also been deer hanging out in the very back of my yard lately too.
Sorry about the parking lot dings. People are so ignorant, never leave a note anymore like we did in the old days.

Pie, love all the veggies from your community garden, awesome! I’d chop up a bunch & make a veggie pot pie, yum

Wags, wishing you a very relaxing weekend doing as much or as little as you like. You deserve that much!

Cyn, getting up in the middle of the night thinking I was late for work - oh yeah, I remember those days haha! Or even worse, when you have a rotating schedule & show up on your day off, LOL
I hope you can do some relaxing this weekend & let your brain get some rest.

Slo, your knee & my feet - use whatever you have to use for relief! I’m just not ready to sit down & give up yet & it hurts with every step you take. Knocking on wood, I’ve been feeling pretty good lately, little pain.

I’ve got some work going on im my shop so I should get back to it for a while. Hello to anyone I’ve missed & hope we all have a decent night.

    Re: 4th June

Pie - that's quite a bounty from the community garden! We aren't quite that far in our growing season, but we have a plot in our community garden as well and we're growing many of the same things in your pic. Enjoy!

Mick - OMG it took me three reads of your post to figure out that you were probably doing talk-to-text to create your post. In my defense, my eyes jumped to the second half of your first paragraph where you were telling us about the horses, and I kept thinking to myself, "WTF is a 'road comma'? Hmmm must be a Scottish thing..." It was only when I went back and read from the beginning and came across "full stop" a couple of times that I finally clued in. Sheesh my brain must be very tired  That story was hysterical to picture mentally - thanks for sharing! Hope all is well with you.

Lav - glad you have some clearer air and hummingbirds again!

PQ - glad you're enjoying your community garden as well, and hopefully you'll start to see more things growing soon. My dad's place is a 15-20 min drive away. I wish he were closer, but this isn't bad. The best part is driving there we have an amazing view of the Cascade Mountains. I love pretty much any mountains, so this is a big positive for me.

Hellos and waves to Slo, Steady and everyone else stopping by here over the weekend. Hope you have good days & nights.

    Mae all -

Long day, but a nice gentle rain going on this moment... what a treat! (Lav, I'm convincing it to go to you!) Pie - didn't see the pics yet, but your description of what you'll make is amazing! Great job with the horses, Mick, what a wild situation... PPQ, so glad you lived through the day - good call on the Boss taking the end point - I agree with Lav, time for a raise. (Hey, I didn't realize you are so close to Banff! I spent a summer there studying music... bliss). Wags, love your description of figuring out Mick's way of posting... lol! . SLO - you doing okay? Busy as usual, I'm sure. Hellos to anyone I missed, apologies.

Short post - I am learning that my cognition is stressed when I do too much screen time, and also I am trying to slow down and concentrate on 1 thing at a time. I am reading a (real, hand-held) book about Covid Long-Haul Cognition challenges -- it is comforting tho a little scary. So I'm trying my best to be good and heal.

But... I have to check in with my pals!
    Wishing all well -
    TG
