The Dirty Life: A Memoir of Farming, Food, and Love

I'm reading a good memoir right now -The Dirty Life: A Memoir of Farming, Food, and Love by Kristen Kimball. She was a Harvard educated writer living in New York City when she got a freelance job to interview young, first generation farmers. She fell in love with one of those farmers, chucked her old life, and together they started up a 500 acre organic farm in upstate NY. And they farm with draft horses!! They grow food, raise meat, keep bees, and tap sugar maples. They feed over 100 families. It's a CSA on steroids. It is a very compelling story. She manages to show all sides of the equation - the romance of living on a beautiful piece of productive land, yet she never makes it sound easy. She makes it sound worthwhile.

It encourages me that we have young people who still want to farm, and are doing it sustainably.
Everything is going to be amazing
