    morning all
jeez louise it wet out. it has been raining all night and pretty hard at times. 2 days ago some areas, fortunately not here, got 8" of rain in a few hours. needless to say, flooding, Mick, my nice clean bridge!!

Lav, went to close up chickens last night and a damn blacksnake was curled up in there. had a heck of a time getting him out of there.

PQ, I go back and forth with early retirement but reckon as long as I have work, I'm holding out. How is the Canadian retirement work?

SK, how you doing? I can't go down the rabbit hole of drump. he's a constitutional calamity.

reckon it is a good day to get some paper work done. Rain all day today as well......
    be well friends

      MAE ALL...

Morning Mick...magpie chatter made me think of my son. Every year a bird family comes back to nest below his bedroom window. Those little chickadee's like to greet the morning sun. What a noise! Glad the peskies are safe. You should ask your farmer neighbour to invest in a donkey. They're great a keeping any predators away from horses, cattle and perhaps your bunnies. The movable raised bed is an interesting idea but there is literally no room in the garden area. The raised plots were positioned in such a way as to allow for walkers and wheelchairs.

Sam...our Canadian Pension Plan goes into effect at the age of 65. However you can apply for early partial payments while still working, which I have done. After 65 you don't have to pay into it but the income you receive is taxable. Like they say the only 2 definite's are death and taxes. Hope you didn't get rained out wherever you were playing your tunes yesterday.

Lav...did the grandson's get picked up yet? Time to replenish the fridge. Even though I complain a lot I really do like my job and have made many friendships with the clients. I plan on sticking around as long as possible. It's nice being able to basically do whatever I want.

      Pauly...thinking of you.

2 more rows to plant in the charity Food Bank plot so will be heading out soon. Hope we all have a Super Sober Sunday....:smile:PPQP

        Greetings Abbers,

That's very damp greetings - ugh. Still raining off & on, listened to thunder rumbling somewhere nearby all night long. Toadstools still popping up everywhere too, ha ha!
Grandson were picked up just before lunch time, it was fun, it was noisy, it was busy, LOL

Mick, keep your eye on the fox, hate those suckers. I don't know about rabbits but they sure do like chickens
Keep taking care of that back fella.

Sam, it rained HARD here last night. I have no idea how much but it must have been quite a bit.
Glad the first snake has arrived at your place, the second should be there shortly. They freak me out even though I know they prefer mice to humans.

PQ, I'm glad you have the kind of job that you can manage & not one that manages you - if you know what I mean. If that's the case then hanging in longer is a good thing.

        Wishing everyone a nice night!

            Morning all,
thanks for the brew, Mick, glad you're feeling more betterish. So you're taking off Wednesday? to whence and where?

I think the sun is going make a welcomed appearance today. I got a bit of clean up to do once the waters recede. Unfortunately, there were a few fatalities here in our area. I feel for the families......

so I going to try something on my fiddle, moving to another finger position, I bought a mute for my wife's sanity. Reckon I'll be more annoying than usual. She is trying to learn a bit of banjo so I'm helping her with that. Thus, annoyance can be mutual!!

hope all is well with everyone. Det, thinking of you

Mick...I'm glad your back is feeling better but obviously you haven't learned to slow down yet. You take it easy. I'm sure Panda appreciates the ramp, sorry there's health issues again. Hope you get it sorted.

Sam...sorry to hear about the fatalities it's been a rough stretch for a lot of people. The mute sounds like a good plan. Mutual annoyance. LOL

                Good evening Abbers & all

We had a real nice, sunny, rain-free day & it was cool too. Finally!
I spent the morning shoveling the litter out of the chicken house (good stuff for the compost pile). It's all nice & clean now so I will be moving the youngsters over to the big girl section little by little this week. As usual I hope the 6 older hens aren't too nasty with the new arrivals. Yes, hen pecking is a real thing.

Mick, I really hope your back holds up for you. Remember to be nice to it, OK?
My son picked up the boys on Sunday. It may be some time before the DIL makes another appearance - her choice.
I haven't seen a single fox since I started keeping the chickens locked up in their new yard. I hope the fox population dwindles to zero.

Sam, sorry to hear of the fatalities in your area, that's sad. I heard of a few up this way too.
I think you need a drum set added to your fiddle & banjo music - sounds nice Good luck!

PQ, are you caught up with your planting now? Today was such a nice day to work outside. I hope we get a few more days like this.

I think this thread will be growing a little. The Monthly thread seems to have outlived it's usefulness so SKendall & Treegirl (FKA as Cyntree) will be posting here as well I believe.

                Have a nice night everyone!

Hello all - I have been with the Monthly thread for years and years, but I have popped over here on occasion, so I do "know" some of you.

I work odd hours, and just finished up for today, so my brain is a little fried... I will just say hello and goodnight for now.

Wishing all well for a happy Tuesday---

                    morning all,
nice cool sunny morning here in ol Virginny, So far, no more attacks from the varmint that had been feasting on my chickens, found the fault in my electric fence and have it smoking, but as a precaution been shutting them up at night. Once it gets hot again, can't do that though. My sister is sending back some furniture she took from our parents house. BUT we are in the process of needing a little work done in there so I guess we're storing it in my old office building. Another form of tetras.

Lav, funny you should mention drum, my son is pretty good drummer, so there you are, what is really needed is a washboard. I did get a nose whistle for Xmas but I had such a bad cold I never got around to trying it.

Mick, you traveling yet, where you be heading this time?

good to see you treegirl, what kind of work do you do and from whence do you hail? Years ago I used to work a graveyard shift, bout killed me. I never got any sleep.

PQ, what is your growing season like? How is it doing a community garden? Are there lots of participants? Sorry if I've asked these questions before, I can't remember didilly these days. We planted right before all that rain, thankfully it didn't really wash away. I think my favorite is sweet taters. I like the way the grow and I enjoy digging them.

Pauly, where you hiding, come on out. Any news from Det?

Pi, how are things down in PI-land? your summer starting to cruise along? Any new doggies?

well off to it friends, be well!

Tuesday with Thunderstorm, but will be 90 by the afternoon. The storms brought cooler weather this a.m., nice.

                          MAE ALL...

Lav...Hope the Hen pecking isn't too severe. Do you move the youngsters over a few at a time? Yup, got all the planting done so now it's just watering and weeding. Sorry to hear the monthly thread is petering out, hasn't it been going for awhile. Good news for us though, more peeps.

Treegirl...welcome aboard, yup I've seen you pop in from time to time. It'll be nice getting to know you.

Sam...is the electric fence specifically for the snakes? Another form of tetras. that made me laugh. We have a very short growing season (95 - 120 days) so you have to watch what you plant. We have 36 garden plots (3' X 8') and rent them out for $34 a growing season. The plot is yours and you can plant what you want with a few exceptions, no invasive plants. We also have about 30 Garden Angels/Friends of the Garden who don't have a plot but volunteer with various jobs including babysitting plots for those gardeners who take vacation. It's really become a social gathering place and well worth the initial work.

Mick...glad you got all the chores done with no mention of straining the back. Are you off early doors tomorrow? Hope the weather is the opposite of the inaugural camping trip.

SK...good to see you might be posting more regularly here. It'll give me/us a chance to get to know you.

For some reason it was a frustrating day. Didn't help that the account showed up after 4 days off and started arguing about procedures. Really, sometimes I think she just makes things up as she goes along. Actually that's been verified by the childcare director. LOL It was like she just wanted to pick a fight and I was going to defend myself which brought the General Manager out of his office. Was going to tell him what I thought of his 2 cents but thought better of it. I did decide to take off an hour early and just get a head start on me time.

Hope we all have a peaceful evening....:smile:PPQP

                            Good evening Abbers!

The increased humidity today meant a pre-dinner downpour, but it was quick. Everything is as green as can be including some things that aren't supposed to be green - like the deck, ha ha!!! Looks like this damp pattern is here to stay too.

Mick, wishing you happy travels & a happy back too I sure hope you have decent weather!

Sam, my daughter played clarinet in the high school bad, my son the trumpet but I have never heard of a nose whistle. I want to see a YouTube video, LOL
My little beagle type dog has been outside all afternoon picking up a scent of something & it's driving her nuts. I have a feeling a fox made an appearance when we weren't looking. I'm keeping the chickens in their run because I can't deal with that sh*t again this year after losing three hens last year.

SK, thunder storms are supposed to clear the air & make things cooler. Doesn't seem to work that way anymore, ha ha!

Cyn, glad you dropped in last night!
