    Happy Sunday All,

Mick, looks like your resort is built into the side of a cliff? Just gorgeous.

Lav, your pocket pillows are adorable! What are the dimensions? It's hard to gauge the size from a photo.

Got my fill of conspiracy theories while out visiting Dad. It's as if he lives on an entirely different plane of existence, where nothing is as it seems, or can be taken at face value. Anything the least bit out of the ordinary is evidence of some plot. I strive at each visit to praise, or show appreciation for something he's said or done, but I'm not willing to validate any craziness. So frustrating!

    Later, gators.

      Greetings Abbers,

      Small crowd here today, huh?
I see Sam & Byrdie, my southern neighbors are being slammed by a major snow/ice storm. I heard >500,000 people are without power, ugh.
Just cold & cloudy here, no precipitation, thank goodness.

Mick, that's a real sleek looking hotel, how nice
I'm sure you two will enjoy your trip!
Glad the rain has stopped for you, geez.

Pi, those pocket pillows are 16"X16". Thinking about doing some larger ones in the future
Your dad sounds kind of paranoid - dementia driven? It's pretty common & not always fun to deal with unfortunately. There's no need to validate his beliefs. I always told patients 'sorry I don't know what you're talking about' & left it at that. No point in trying to reorient someone & risk getting them angry & acting nasty.
Any progress on your title yet??

Hello to all the missing folks - PQ, SK, Cyn, Pauly & Det! Hope everyone is doing OK.

      Have a nice night everyone.

Yes, it's definitely paranoia with Dad. I think when he had a younger, healthier brain, he was able to keep it in check, but it's always been part of his personality.

I've got a Monday list of things to attend to. Thankfully, it's nowhere near as long as yours, Mick.

PQ, Banff? As in the ski resort?

                MAE ALL...

Mick...sun...2 days in a row...you must be doing something right! Did you get all your chores done today? These 10 days will fly by.

Pauly...hope you had a good day.

Pi...yes, as in the ski resort. I'm not a big skier but can get by. The thrill is staying at the Banff Springs Hotel, I love it all done up for Christmas. As long as all your Dad does is talk about things you're ok. I'd hide his credit card if I were you.

Lav...I saw the report about the storm and power outage too. We have been really spoiled lately, above freezing, no snow and plenty of sunshine. I'm hoping we have a mild winter after last year.

Det...sorry to hear you didn't get the job. Onward and upward.

Sam...hope all is ok with the weather you're having.

TG...I think I read that you were back from you travels over the weekend. Will things slow down with your clients over the holidays?

It was a really long day at work, can hardly wait till the break, which happens to start the same day Mick heads out on Jolidays. Breakfast for supper tonight and an early bedtime. Got way too much physical activity over the weekend. Hope we all have a peaceful evening....:smile:PPQP

                    Late but saying HELLO!
Still cold but dry here so not complaining.

Mick, hope you got modt of your list knocked off today, ha ha!
I take it Amy’s boyfriend is not your favorite person? I hope things are better for them this time around. If it’s meant to be.....
No toys for Christmas this year, they’re all over that stage at this point. I am making pillows for each of them according to their current interests. Going to put gift cards in them so their parents can take them shopping. Easier for me

                    Hi Pauly!

PQ, I was wondering where you were, glad you enjoyed your weekend, sounds nice!
The Farmers Almanac is talking about a lot of snow for us this winter, unfortunately. I hope you don’t get it too, ugh.

                    Hello to Cyn & SK!

Pie, I know psychiatrists usually put elderly, confused or agitated pstients on a low dose antipsychotic with good results. This is not to chrmically restrain them or anything but to settle down the mind chatter that often leaves them out of sorts. Maybe you coukd talk to his doc about getting a Psych eval. It wouldn’t hurt.

Det, the pocket pillows were initially designed to hold books for young kids. Good for story time. Adults can use them to hold books, remotes, iPads, whatever!
Liked your pic but what happened to Santa’s reindeer? LOL
It’s been below freezing at night so I am sleeping better. Maybe you should move east.

                    Have a nice night everyone!

Always wear clean underwear in public, especially when working under your vehicle...

From the Hamilton Spectator Daily News comes this story of a Burlington couple who drove their car to Wal-Mart, only to have their car break down in the parking lot.

The man told his wife to carry on with the shopping while he fixed the car in the lot.

The wife returned later to see a small group of people near the car. On closer inspection, she saw a pair of male legs protruding from under the chassis. Although the man was in shorts, his lack of underpants turned private parts into glaringly public ones. Unable to stand the embarrassment, she dutifully stepped forward, quickly put her hand UP his shorts, and tucked everything back into place. She then took a deep breath and stood up boldly to face the crowd. When she looked across the hood, she found herself staring at her husband, who had been standing idly by.

The mechanic, however, had to have three stitches in his forehead.

A woman takes her 16-year-old daughter to the doctor.

The doctor says "Okay, Mrs. Jones, what's the problem"?

The mother says, "It's my daughter, Debbie. She keeps getting these cravings. She's putting on weight, and is sick most mornings".

The doctor gives Debbie a good examination, then turns to the mother and says, "Well, I don't know how to tell you this, but your daughter is pregnant, about 4 months, would be my guess".

The mother says, "Pregnant?! She can't be. She has never ever been with a man! Have you Debbie"?

Debbie replied saying, "No mother! I've never even kissed a man, I'm still a virgin"!

The doctor walked over to the window and just stood, staring out of it.

After about five minutes pass and finally the mother says, "Is there something wrong out there doctor"?

The doctor replies, "No, not really, it's just that the last time anything like this happened, a star appeared in the east and 3 wise men came over the hill. There's just no way I'm going to miss it this time"!

Early aircraft's throttles had a ball on the end of it, in order to go full throttle the pilot had to push the throttle all the way forward into the wall of the instrument panel. Hence "balls to the wall" for going very fast. And now you know, the rest of the story.

During WWII , U.S. airplanes were armed with belts of bullets which they would shoot during dogfights and on strafing runs. These belts were folded into the wing compartments that fed their machine guns. These belts measure 27 feet and contained hundreds of rounds of bullets. Often times, the pilots would return from their missions having expended all of their bullets on various targets. They would say, ?I gave them the whole nine yards,? meaning they used up all of their ammunition.

In George Washington's days, there were no cameras. One's image was either sculpted or painted. Some paintings of George Washington showed him standing behind a desk with one arm behind his back while others showed both legs and both arms. Prices charged by painters were not based on how many people were to be painted, but by how many limbs were to be painted. Arms and legs are 'limbs,' therefore painting them would cost the buyer more. Hence the expression, 'Okay, but it'll cost you an arm and a leg.' (Artists know hands and arms are more difficult to paint.)

In the late 1700's, many houses consisted of a large room with only one chair. Commonly, a long wide board folded down from the wall, and was used for dining. The 'head of the household' always sat in the chair while everyone else ate sitting on the floor. Occasionally a guest, who was usually a man, would be invited to sit in this chair during a meal. To sit in the chair meant you were important and in charge. They called the one sitting in the chair the 'chair man.' Today in business, we use the expression or title 'Chairman' or 'Chairman of the Board.'

Personal hygiene left much room for improvement. As a result, many women and men had developed acne scars by adulthood. The women would spread bee's wax over their facial skin to smooth out their complexions. When they were speaking to each other, if a woman began to stare at another woman's face she was told, 'mind your own bee's wax.' Should the woman smile, the wax would crack, hence the term 'crack a smile'. In addition, when they sat too close to the fire, the wax would melt. Therefore, the expression 'losing face.'

Ladies wore corsets, which would lace up in the front. A proper and dignified woman, as in 'straight laced' wore a tightly tied lace.

Early politicians required feedback from the public to determine what the people considered important. Since there were no telephones, TV's or radios, the politicians sent their assistants to local taverns, pubs, and bars. They were told to 'go sip some Ale and listen to people's conversations and political concerns. Many assistants were dispatched at different times. 'You go sip here' and 'You go sip there.' The two words 'go sip' were eventually combined when referring to the local opinion and, thus we have the term 'gossip.'

At local taverns, pubs, and bars, people drank from pint and quart-sized containers. A bar maid's job was to keep an eye on the customers and keep the drinks coming. She had to pay close attention and remember who was drinking in 'pints' and who was drinking in 'quarts,' hence the phrase 'minding your 'P's and Q's'.

                            MAE ALL...

Mick...glad to hear you're getting a reprieve from the rain, even if it's not sunny. I'm sure the peskies are glad to be out of their hutch. All the chores done but one, wow, that was quite a list. I hope you had a good meal tonight. Forget about the pre holiday diet and just blame the extra weight on holiday indulging. Trying to picture you skiing on a dry slope, all kinds of things come to mind. LOL Yup, it's a aooh aah ouch day, funny how it takes 2 days to materialize. I know it must be tough but you're right, at the end of the day it's their lives. I wouldn't listen to anyone either, had to do it my way and deal with the consequences.

Det...hope you were able to get a better nights sleep. I love Santa on the bike, how you. Yup, physical activity in the form of skiing which I haven't done in over 10 years!

Lav...I hope we don't get clobbered either, we could do with a year of normal snowfall. So far, so good. I love the pillow and gift card idea for the g/kids. Don't listen to Mick, let their parents take them shopping.

Pi...I'm assuming your Dad is still married. How's the new wife coping with the delusions? Get that title settled yet?

It was a good day at work, finally decided to get into setting up next year's online programs. I get so wrapped up in it the day just flies by. Bridge group is having their Xmas lunch tomorrow so it's a chef supplied meal and card playing for the afternoon. Plan on doing absolutely no work at all. LOL Hope everyone has a good night....:smile:PPQP
