It is SO HARD to get a doctor that prescribes Naltrexon in Philly!

I have tried to get an appointment that accepts Blue Cross in the Philly area for months. One rehab place told me I would have to detox for 24 hours before starting the meds and I was likely to DIE from withdrawl so they wouldn't take me. Any tips??? I am so frustrated.

    Hello and welcome!

Are you interested in using the Sinclair Method? If so, you don’t need to detox first. You can order Nal online from all day chemist pharmacy. Buy Prescription Medicines From Online Pharmacy Store | AllDayChemist

There is a Philly doctor listed on the cthreefoundation.org website who would no doubt prescribe. Here is the info:

    MICHAEL ASCHER, MD
    Independent Practice
Phone: 646-812-1421 Web: Psychiatrist in Philadelphia - Michael Ascher, M.D. Email: doctor@aschermd.com255 South 17th Street, Suite 605, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19103

    Good luck!

          Hi guys,
Dr Ascher in Philly is not taking new patients. Any other recommendations? Has anyone done telemedicine option? Like sinclairmethod.org? The initial appointment is $175 then $125 for followup appts.
          Thanks everyone!

Did you happen to ask his office for a referral to someone else?

I’ve never used the telemedicine option but it seems to be getting more common. My insurance company now offers it for certain things.

His office voicemail said not to expect a response unless you are a current patient.

                mwrad-
MDproactive is a great telemedicine option if offered in your state...

Also head over to the C3 foundation forum its dedicated to TSM/Naltrexone path.. the moderators over there can help you find a doc. They have their own telemed docs as well.

Try Clean Slate Medication-Assisted Treatment Drug & Alcohol Addiction | CleanSlate They have locations in PA. My husband had a tough time getting a doc to prescribe naltrexone until he found them. He was not a fan of the place though. They seem more geared towards opioid addiction. They were very strict having to go for random drug test even though opioids were never his problem. They also don't believe in TSM and wanted to give him the naltrexone shots until he said his insurance only covered the pills. But the important thing is he got the naltrexone prescription!! He followed along with their rules for a while and eventually found a new primary care doctor that agreed to continue to prescribe it.

It would be interesting to get an update, Mrs Owl......
