    Re: 17th April

Mae all - Below is from yesterday. I hope that folks have been able to enjoy a peaceful day, or have the holiday with family...

    "Happy Easter/Full Moon/Spring holiday to all -

I went to the cemetery and (finally) found my family. Though I have been there several times, it's difficult each time. Now there is (sadly) a new big marker close to the road... so I have a better landmark to look for. I found my grandmother's gravestone nearly covered!! I will ask if it can be lifted... it is sinking down a bit, and so the grass really started to cover it... so glad I was there to clear it off. I had brought pansies, and had plant stakes in the containers, so hopefully they'll last at least through Easter. I then went to my parents... that one is easier to find, and I placed yellow pansies for my mom and purple pansies for my dad. I'm not sure why I was so determined... maybe because this is the first spring in my home-state, so all the relatives feel closer. I also found a bunch of photos from the 20s as I was looking for stuff. My grandmother and grandfather - he was so handsome, he died young and my grandmother never really was the same - he was the love of her life. So many stories and emotions.

Lav, what a nice thing for your kids to start to thaw out that relationship! A great Easter gift. Any plans for tomorrow? I will be taking a little repast to my brother. HIs wife is with their son and family in Coronado, and on Monday my brother will join her. He is big in the Anglican church, so has to be at all these services this week. He's worn out! So I will bring a little celebration for us.

PPQ - hoping you are getting some rest, and your eye is better.

Mick, SO glad that you finally got red cabbage! Congrats on that and on the lawn work. I have to admit I am glad I don't have to even think about that stuff anymore... you have so much energy! Hope Julie is feeling better and that the rabbits won't overeat for Easter.

I am still worn out from my trip, and got smacked with a huge tax bill to pay, so my head is reeling. Right now I'm doing a Scarlett O'Hara... "I'll think about it tomorrow..." (or Monday)

    Wishing all well -

Det, Pauly, Sam and all others, hope you will enjoy this gorgeous moon - happy spring holiday time"

      Happy Easter to all!

Just now realized I didn’t post yet today, haha!
Nice day with sun but definitely chilly. Now we’re getting frost warnings, ugh. Quiet day here & that’s OK. I convection roasted a turkey breast, made a big Italian style potato salad (no mayo) & baked some family cookies with my new wooden moulds.

Mick, glad your day was good. Make sure you pick a day that’s not windy when you go after those gutters, please.
Yes, my daughter said she & her brother got along very well & the grandkids were all happy. My DIL not being there was helpful, honestly. I’m sure you’re anxious to get going on your trip

Cyn, I’m happy you were able to locate your family. I go so often it doesn’t really affect me much anymore but I’m sure it was different for you.
I hope the day with your brother was nice & peaceful.

PQ, hope your weekend was good.

Same to you Pauly, Det & Sam.

      Have a nice night all!

          MAE ALL...

Today is the first day of no snow and temps above freezing. Not going to last long as snow predicted again tonight and off and on tomorrow. I had a quiet weekend no big meal cooking for me either. Went for blood work first thing this morning and just got back from seeing the respiratory specialist. It went better than expected. He does want me to quit smoking but there was no drama. He said if I quit now he sees no reason for me to ever have to go on oxygen. So another prescription for Champix and I will try again.

Mick...jealous of the weather you've been having but it is your turn. Who knew the pigeons would eat all your grass seed! Hope the netting keeps them away. Will be interested to see the results of your micro bore. I bet you can't wait to head off to Scotland. Get some drone practice in I want to see all the pics.

Lav...how nice that your son and daughter got together. Hopefully they can do it more often when the DIL isn't around. I'm sure the cousins were glad to see each other. I had a nice relaxing weekend and then got worried about the respiratory doc visit but that went ok too.

TG..."Happy Easter/Full Moon/Spring holiday" to you too. I'm sure the gravesite looked fab when you were done. I have no relatives buried to visit but have been to close friends gravesites. I was able to have a restful weekend, didn't get together with any family but that's ok. Sorry to hear about the tax bill, seems like it's been one thing after another. Take some time for yourself and rest up.

Shout out to Det, Pauly and Sam. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

Mae all - Quiet day here... needed to find some documents and other stuff, so went downstairs to the (hanging) storage locker. Lifted, moved, put down, put up again, etc. lots of stuff. Finally found some check blanks... (I have no idea where, but my checkbook is AWOL. It will turn up eventually, but in the meantime I can write checks. weird!)
Lav, good to hear about the family. Your dinner sounds delish!

PPQ, glad to hear of the doc visit. Good luck - this time the Chantrix (? Name) will work! 👍

Mick, always busy. Be careful of yourself now, some things can wait... you want to be in good shape for the trip!! It sounds wonderful, I can’t wait for some pics.

Hello to Pauly, Sam, Det and all stopping by. May we be well —

              Re: 17th April

Greetings from a super soggy Pennsylvania. Up to 2” of rain expected tonight & we don’t even need any, ho hum. The temp is dropping near freezing too which isn’t good for the plants.

Mick, I think you’re hogging all the nice weather again dude, haha!
Glad you are out & enjoying yourself. We need to reseed some areas too but keep forgetting to buy grass seed, duh. I hope your netting works out & keeps the birds & other creatures away. Good luck with the irrigation system.

PQ, glad you received good news from the doc. Lucky you got one in a good mood & didn’t yell about the smoking the way they usually do. Wishing you good luck with the Champix.
I always knew in my heart that my son & daughter could/would work things out if the DIL wasn’t involved. She created this mess but won’t lift a finger to correct it, honestly.

Cyn, do you usually carry your checkbook with you? I used to years ago but gave up when we got Debit cards. I hope you find it soon. We had to pay some extra tax after t he accountant prepared our federal & state taxes but it wasn’t too bad. It’s hard to k now what to pay each year when you’re paying estimated taxes all year long, confuses the hell out of me. Hope the week goes well for you

Hello to Pauly, Det & Sam.

              Have a decent night all!

                  Re: 17th April

                  Good evening friends,

Still chilly & partly sunny here but not complaining because surrounding areas had snow today, ugh.
Staying comfy inside & catching upon crafty stuff. Meeting friends for lunch tomorrow when it’s supposed to be sunny & 60 degrees, looking forward to that.

Mick, hope you don’t mind I sent you the last of the rain, was getting tired of it, haha!
Sleep has been not great the past few nights & I know it’s been moon related. The night before last my bedroom was light up like it was daytime due to the brightness of the moon. Can’t sleep thru that, Lol
Hope you get your irrigation system set up OK, using a timer I guess.

PQ, Cyn, hello to both of you!
Pauly, Det & Sam, hello as well.

                  Have a nice night all!

                    MAE ALL...

OMG!! Snowmagedan here today! It started around 9am and then the winds picked up. It was white out conditions at times. It's the really wet heavy stuff. I swear we got a foot of snow in an hour. Cars everywhere, roads closed due to crashes or hills that people couldn't get up (or down). So grateful I'm 2 blocks away in a straight line, no hills. LOL

TG...you are always going through things that are packed up. Won't it be wonderful when you finally get everything sorted and put away. Glad you found some blank cheques, I know they come in handy now and then. I no longer have cheques, can live without them. Hope you can get some down time.

Lav...I was really expecting bad news, especially after the drama that went on after my last breathing test, so was pleasantly surprised. I did expect a lecture as the doc looked like an old ornary guy but he was ok. This might be the right time to quit smoking with the ex boss and program coordinator gone. Other than some busy days the stress is gone and it makes a lot of difference. Enjoy your lunch tomorrow, I'll be hunkering down as it's supposed to snow all night. Gotta love spring in Calgary.

Mick...and the rain is back. That's ok, get it over with so you can head out on Thursday with good weather. How long are you going for again, I forget. Yup, my Easter was a quiet one and that was just fine by me. I have to start booking some time off as I need to get my holidays in before August. The way March flew by and April is flying by it'll be here before I know it.

Sam...hope the cleaning is going ok, I believe the wedding is next month?

Det...hope all is well with you. At least we know Lav sees some of your posts so we know you're still at it.

Pauly...things must be same old, same old. Hope the work is going ok. I'm still glad you moved on.

Although they've put a snowfall warning in effect I'm hoping we don't get clobbered tonight. It's tacos for supper so must get started. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

pauly sam det etc hope you are all doing ok .

A student at an English university, by name of Donald MacDonald from the Isle of Skye, who was living in the hall of residence in his first year there. After he had been there for a month, his mother came to visit, no doubt carrying reinforcements of oatmeal.

"And how do you find the English students, Donald?"
she asked."Mother," he replied, "they're such terrible noisy people! The one on that side keeps banging his head against the wall, and won't stop. The one on the other side screams and screams and screams away into the night!"

"Oh, Donald! How ever do you manage to put up with these awful noisy English neighbours?" "Mother, I do nothing, I just ignore them! I just stay here quietly playing my bagpipes!"

A little old Jewish lady sold pretzels on a street corner for twenty-five cents each. Every day a young lawyer would leave his office building at lunch time, and as he passed her pretzel stand, he would leave her a quarter but never take a pretzel.

This went on for more than five years. The two of them never spoke. One day, as the lawyer passed the old lady’s stand and left his quarter as usual, the pretzel woman spoke to him.

"Sir, I appreciate your business. You are a good customer, but I have to tell you that the pretzel price has gone up to thirty-five cents."

Bill and Marla decided that the only way to pull off a Sunday afternoon quickie with their ten-year-old son in the apartment was to send him out on the balcony and tell him to report on all the neighborhood activities.

The boy began his commentary as his parents put their plan into operation. "There's a car being towed from the parking lot," he said. "An ambulance just drove by." A few moments passed.

"Looks like the Andersons have company," he called out. "Matt's riding a new bike, and the Coopers are having sex."

Mom and Dad shot up in bed. "How do you know that?" the startled father asked.

"Their kid is standing out on the balcony too," his son replied.

A little girl was leading her dog through the park when an old man stopped her, saying, "That's sure a pretty dress you're wearing."

The little girl smiled, "Thank you, Sir. My mama bought it for me.
                      This is my dog Porky."

The old man chuckled, "I'll bet a nickel I can guess why you called him that."

She shook her head, "I'll bet you can't."

He laughed, "You called him Porky because he's so fat."

She shook her head. "No Sir, we call him that because he screws pigs."

                      The Blind Pilots
Passengers on a small plane are waiting for the flight to leave.

They're getting a little impatient, but the airport staff assures them the pilots will be there soon, and the flight can take off.

The entrance opens, two men dressed in Pilots' uniforms walk up the aisle.
Both are wearing dark glasses, one is using a guide dog, and the other is tapping his way along the aisle with a cane.

Nervous laughter spreads through the cabin, but the men enter the cockpit, the door closes, and the engines start up.

The passengers begin glancing nervously around, searching for some sign that this is just a little practical joke. None is forthcoming.

The plane moves faster and faster down the runway, and the people sitting in the window seats realize they're headed straight for the water at the edge of the airport territory.

As it begins to look as though the plane will plow into the water, panicked screams fill the cabin. At that moment, the plane lifts smoothly into the air.

The passengers relax and laugh a little sheepishly, and soon all retreat into their magazines, secure in the knowledge that the plane is in good hands.

In the cockpit, one blind pilot turns to the other and says, "You know, Bob, one of these days, they're gonna scream too late and we're all gonna die."

A new young monk arrives at the monastery. He is assigned to help the other monks in copying the old canons and laws of the church by hand. He notices, however, that all of the monks are copying from copies, not from the original manuscript. So the new monk goes to the head abbot to question this, pointing out that if someone made even a small error in the first copy, it would never be picked up. In fact, that error would be continued in all of the subsequent copies.

The head monk says, "We have been copying from the copies for centuries, but you make a good point, my son." So he goes down into the dark caves underneath the monastery where the original manuscript is held as archives in a locked vault that hasn't been opened for hundreds of years.

Hours go by and nobody sees the old abbot. So, the young monk gets worried and goes downstairs to look for him. He sees him banging his head against the wall and wailing "We forgot the 'R', We forgot the
'R'". His forehead is all bloody and bruised and he is crying uncontrollably.

The young monk asks the old abbot, "What's wrong, father?"

With a choking voice, the old abbot replies, "The word is 'celebrate'."

What a difference a day makes. Had to thaw out the car to get the doors open this morning but the snow has stopped and it was quite mild out. Sun came out and it must have had some heat to it because a lot of melting going on at least on the streets and sidewalks. The parking lot at work is like a lake.

Mick...glad the weather smartened up and you were able to pack up the van. Hope your irrigation works while you're away, although you're probably still going to get rain. In case you're off early, safe travels and have fun.

                          Greetings friends,

Chilly but sunny & dry here. Had a nice lunch with my friends, needed the time to just chat
Back to working on crafty stuff for the event on the 30th.

Mick, I guess you do need to pack quite a bit for a 16 day trip. Either that or you would have to visit the launder mat on vacation, haha! Hope your irrigation system keeps up while you’re away. Can a neighbor possibly keep an eye on it for you while you’re away? I hope you two have a great trip!

PQ, so sorry about all the snow, yuck. Just doesn’t seem right for this time of year.
Sounds like you’re in good position now to make your quit smoking plan. Just like when we quit drinking there’s never a ‘perfect time’, just have to make the commitment. Keep telling yourself you will feel so much better when you quit & there’s NO such thing as having just one

Cyn, hope you’re OK & getting some much deserved rest. Youhave to take care of you

Pauly, Det & Sam, hello & hope you are well.

OK, back to crafty stuff & wishing everyone a nice night!

I posted a long post yesterday on my phone, forgetting to copy it just in case, and sure enough, it disappeared.

Mick, wishing you all well in your trip - looking forward to hearing about my homeland! PPQ, glad to hear about the warmer weather/thaw, hope it keeps going. Lav, hope all is well, glad to hear about your kids getting together. Sam, I hope all is going well with fences and weddings. Greetings to Pauly and Det. Hello to all else.
I am going for a short road trip with my niece to help her get her rental cabin in Colorado ready for the season. An unexpected chance for just the 2 of us to be together... not sure if I’ll be able to post, we’ll see. Home Sunday night.
                            May we be well -
