I posted earlier today, but the site wouldn’t accept it. I’ll try again…

Just took a marvelous bike ride! The weather is as nice here today as it is by you, Mick.
Sounds like it’s time for a supervised living situation for Julie’s dad, and glad that her mind is turned that way now; and a nice place has been found. How long is the waiting list though?

I am enjoying the scented blossoms too, TG. The lilacs are out here!
I started taking vitamin B12 & folate now, as well as thiamine. It seems to be helping with my energy. I also bought Udo’s 3-6-9 oil, in case I have a fatty acid imbalance or deficiency.

I very much enjoyed my visit with Young Daughter, and Boyd was in cat heaven with his girl back in his life!

Let me stop and see if this will post. Testing 1-2-3…

Bodacious scallops and homemade potato salad sounds divine, Pie. I saw some of Secession when I had HBO, and it’s a good series.

I got to see the movie, “A Man Called Otto” starring Tom Hanks recently, and it was excellent! Better than the book!

My grandson Andy is crawling flawlessly now at 6 months old, and he is so happy to be mobile! He learned how to sit & crawl at pretty much the same time. Such a giant boy he is too: bigger than Huxley, who is 10 months old. I get to travel to see him in a couple weeks.

What did your son make you for dinner, PQ? Hope your Internet will be solid with a new router.

Lav, that’s good advice. I think Beckett does need very regular meal and bedtimes to help keep him balanced. Well, maybe he did survive all the insults surrounding his birth neurologically intact. Maybe it’s his other health woes that bother him, like the endless eczema, or all the sinusitis and endless colds. Those should be getting better now that his tonsils & adenoids are out. Or, maybe he’s just a quirky kid.

        Re: 21st May

Yesterday I traveled to my mother’s new apartment in her new city in order to see my cousin’s 10-year-old son’s swim meet. He has joined the sport that my daughters were so involved in! This enabled me to visit with Young Aunt & Uncle (the grandparents of the swimmer), Cousin and her HB & kids, and my nephew who just graduated from med school and his lovely Austrian girlfriend -before they move away for his residency.
I caught wind of this gathering thanks to helping my mother move. Otherwise she never would have let me know they were all coming to our state and getting together! Not even the swim connection would have prompted her to include me! She just all distressed that Little Sister & her family couldn’t be there, since they’re traveling for their children’s sports. Like, so what? I’m glad they’re traveling: they’re up by D1’s house, so they got to meet my newest grandson Cooper, and Beckett got to have his first sleepover, with my little sister’s 5 y/o son!

On Friday evening I got to be a sub again for my neighbor’s church group’s monthly card game, so I got to play Hand & Foot for 3-4 hours! You’re right, PQ; it is a form of Canasta.

        Happy Sunday to all!

          Re: 21st May

          Good evening friends,

It was a nice day here but we mostly missed it preparing for the carpet cleaners coming Tuesday morning. I am sick to death tired of moving furniture, packing boxes, etc. Lol
The wall to wall carpeting in the basement family room has never been cleaned so I figured it was time haha. It will be nice when it’s all done.

Pie, you are doing great in your quit, good for you! You must be feeling somewhat better & improved now.
I was put on HRT early, around 44 I think because my hormones had disappeared & the symptoms were awful. 20 some years later they told me I had to get off due to the increased risk of cancer. So for the last 4 or 5 years I’ve just been suffering with the hot flashes. They have been worse since having covid in February. I just wish it would all stop!!!

Mick, looks like you had another successful day
My dog doesn’t generally mess with any of my garden beds but the cats sure do, ugh. I’m trying to teach them to stay the heck out of my gardens, wish me luck haha! I’ve never had any Brahma hens. I don’t think I have enough energy left to deal with those big birds.

Slo, you’ve had a busy few days & are out enjoying your bike riding again, nice.
I did a ton of reading when my son was very young & the one thing all the books agreed on was the importance of consistency for these kids. He’s still fairly methodical in his day to day living, organized & never spastic haha! I paid for several years to have him work with a clinical psychologist to get his thinking organized, made school so much easier for him after that. All kids are different, you just need to figure out what it is they need. Glad you managed to get some extended family time too

Hello to PQ & Cyn, hope you are both doing well.

          Have a nice night all.

            Mae all -

Sorry to miss yesterday, but I did go back and get a quick "catch-up"...

Mick, so glad to hear that Julie's research has turned up a good place for her dad - excellent! And maybe going home for a while now will just give him and you all some time to get his move all settled. Your scenery is so stunning, and I loved the quiet morning that you described. Hopefully things will call down a bit for you soon - although you'll just spend more time in the garden, it sounds like!

Pie - kudos to you! Great to hear your happiness, and I'm loving those menu items. Your energy will return, no worries... and congrats on the successful placement of the pup - sounds great.

Lav, poor thing - I hope that tomorrow (today?) goes well with all the carpet stuff, and you can get things put back now once and for all! YES Covid definitely has given me huge sweats... it's the gift that just keeps giving, darn it.

PPQ - hoping you are well, and fending off the xmas people for the moment!

SLO - wow, what a lot of family you handle... I am exhausted just reading your post... so glad that the cat had happiness with your daughter. Take care on all those drives!

I just pressed "send" on today's assignment - this week and next are the course for being a doula to help families and their animal companions at the end of life. Pretty heart-wrenching stuff, talking about when and whether to help clients with the decision to euthanize, etc. All pretty close to home for me, but the thought of being able to help people and their pets is such a wonderful thing - I hope I'll be successful and able to bring some gentleness into those times for folks. We'll see. Right now my brain is shutting down, so... nite nite!

                MAE ALL....

Just checking in while I have internet. We are still struggling with making it stable. If we can't fix it we'll buy a new router on payday. Everyone sounds like they're doing good, keep it up. It's been extremely hot here around 30C but the smoke did clear out yesterday. Supposed to start getting some rain so that will help with the fires. Son came home for the weekend but has now gone back up north.

Sorry for not posting to you all individually but wanted to check in and let you all is good with me. Have a great day all...:smile:PPQP

                      Good evening friends,

Carpet cleaners are tomorrow morning (Tuesday) bright & early. Today was the hour trip to the eye specialist & the hour trip back. All is stable with the corneal scar so that’s good.
I think we are finally getting a little bit of the wildfire smoke down this way. I’m sitting outside & definitely smelling it right now.

Cyn, sounds like you are really getting the hang of online education. It’s pretty intense work but you’re getting it done, good for you.
I’ve lost track of the # of hot flashes I get daily but it’s the ones waking me up at night that are really annoying me. Tiresome.com

Mick, I’m afraid to let chickens loose on my property. The last time I did 7 chickens ended being killed by foxes. I’d need a chicken big enough & bad enough to fight off a fox, haha!
Yes, I have lots of plants in the ground & seeds starting to break through so watering daily is a must unless we have rain. Haven’t had any lately which is weird for us. I hope yo can stya cool in your heatwave!

PQ, please don’t send me your heatwave haha!
Hope you can get your internet figured out soon. It’s a pain when it’s not working the way it should.

Pie, I’m so happy you are moving forwrad with your quit. You will never regret it, I promise

Mick, I like th enY car chase pics. It’s pretty much what I was thinking when I heard the news Lol

Hello to Slo, I hope you’re having a good day.

Mick, I got up at 6 am too to get ready for the carpet cleaner coming at 8 but he showed up at 7:30, haha.
The job is done, will finish replacing furniture tomorrow when it’s completely dried. Of course my allergies are reacting to the chemicals he used, ugh.
I hope your day improved somewhat.

MAE ALL...it poured rain last night complete with hail, thunder & lightening. Haven't had one of those for a long time. It stopped sometime during the night but moved north & west where all the fires are. I'm sure it made a difference.

Mick...had to look up Porkies. I sure learn a lot reading your posts. LOL No rain today, hot and sunny but supposed to return by Thursday. Did your weather turn into a heatwave. I can just picture you sitting there watching the world go by and the sound of silence. Hope you had a good day.

Lav...must feel good to have the carpets finished. Is that it for the packing and shuffling now. I promise I won't send the heatwave your way but I can't speak for the rest of Canada.

TG...started an online course for First Aid and CPR, thought of you. The First Aid is online and the CPR will be in person. I have worked at the community centre for 11 years and never had to do it before. New boss, new rules I guess.

Yesterday was a stat holiday, Victoria Day, so today was my Monday and it was a DF day! My antivirus software decided the computer game I play was a threat and disabled it. Figure it's the universe telling me to get a life. LOL I'm not even going to troubleshoot it.

Shout out to Pi and Slo, hope your day was good.

We have just beautiful weather here today! I just enjoyed a bike ride, and could smell the fragrances of lilacs and dogwood.

Yesterday was a long day with Huxley. He was so sick with an endlessly runny nose and a thick cough. I hope I don’t get it!
His daddy had knee surgery today for a torn ACL and a torn meniscus.
That’s what I should have done back in ‘84-85 when I injured my knee! Now, instead, I have a knee replacement.
I saw a pain specialist doctor today for my chronic pain in the knee replacement knee, and am looking into having a genicular nerve block, and if that is effective, then genicular nerve radio frequency ablation surgery to some nerves near my knee, to block some of the pain signals.

Good job getting the carpets re-laid and cleaned, Lav! It is a hassle to have to take the furniture all out and then put it all back -I know. You had to leave it all out for a long time though, since there was more involved than just shampooing.
Thankfully your corneal scar is stable. Wish it would just disappear! -but when my mother developed one last year, I learned that they don’t.

PQ, what is a DF day? You mentioned that before. I guess if the antivirus software doesn’t want you to play computer games at work, then you don’t! Haha.

I looked up “telling porkies” too! It meant what I thought it would mean, by the context. Sorry you couldn’t sleep, Mick. I FINALLY slept 7 1/2 hours last night, and felt much better today.
I especially enjoyed “chess nuts boasting in an open foyer” and also losing 3 days to the whiskey diet.

I got my weekly dusting and vacuuming & some mopping done today! I bet you are enjoying your totally clean home today, Pie; after the cleaners came for the monthly cleaning.
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.
