I want to ask ........if you were on your death bed who would you call on for comfort ? Darwin !?! He can't help you. What a lonely and dreadful obis you'll live threw .......with no hope......I believe that I will be welcomed on the other side by relatives and my higher being... live for ever. A better outcome than just rotten into the ground, and that's it.

If you are on your death bed there will be no comfort whatsoever from anybody. You are implying that a part of you, usually called a soul lives on after your body rots away. Do you have any evidence that there is a soul. Once again, your "higher being" could post on my thread and answer all our questions, that is, if your higher being exist.

The trouble I see with these kinds of discussions are that no matter how convincing each side can be, no one will have changed their minds, it is a futile attempt either way, just like politics. I read with interest the thread that got locked out about being an atheist and it got sort of crazy but it really seemed that if anyone disagrees with a religious ideology all hell breaks loose. I really don't care one way or the other. Apathy kills but who cares kinda thing. Basically just here to stay sober and just bumped into this topic and I'll be bumping out.

Nobody has the right to be upset and I'm not going to leave anybody out of a conversation. Individual freedom mine and yours, everybody's is to important . What attracted me was the forum, What You Believe, and here I am. I believe religion is a threat to all our freedom. Look what Jim Jones and Osama Bin Laden did. This does not scare all of you. Why can't this god speak to all 7 billion of us just once .

Hi, actually, your soul is the part of you that is made up of emotions and stuff. It's your spirit that is eternal.

The bible talks of Body, Soul and Spirit.
Body, physical
Soul - Personality traits
Spirit - our essence.

And actually, a Christian on his death bed, would or should not be afraid. I would be at complete peace of the promises of Jesus Christ.
