    the 1st Day

yeah that is true for me too. the 4th day on is when my brain starts to say hey i'm feeling good i can probably drink now but then it repeats the same ol stuff and all the ick comes back. best to still keep detoxing the body. hopefully you are getting kudzo and milk thistle to keep the detox going and cravings down. thanks to cvs posts i've got a whole supplement line on my counter. lol just keep posting magnum. one day and moment at a time. the guys always trim up fast. but mostly you feel will keep feeling a renewed self respect and confidence. that is the best feeling of all. the outer effects great too. but wow, the inner part of seeing yourself in a new way. that's cool. so one little step at a time. for today see if you can not pick up that first drink.

      the 1st Day

Well, I've made it to day 5. I'm doing good. I think my body is really detoxing (no real idea cause never done this before). This weekend is going to be the test.

Let me ask this question and maybe I'm trying to justify it. If I got drunk one day a week, would that be bad if I was able to only drink that one day a week? Not sure if I can or if I would do that but just a thought.

        weekend bender

Hi magnum,i live in australia and our whole week is like a weekend. We drink because we're stressed/tired/awake/busy/relaxing/bored/socialising etc etc. no excuse is good enough not to drink.I even had 'friends' tell me to drink stout(dark guiness-like beer which i love but is about 9% alcohol)when i was pregnant because its full of iron!!!!!So the weekend was the BIGGEST temptation for me.Only you can be the one to take control and if peer pressure is just too hard but you really DONT want to drink just get yourself a stubbie holder and then have the same beer or whatever beverage in it all night,All anyone will see is that your holding a drink, they wont know,or care,if its the same one youve had all night, but youll be SOOO proud of yourself the next day(and so will your head). If you need a stubbie holder let me know and ill post you one.We have great 'wet suit' material ones that fit into your pocket or glove box...CORKERS!ps.just for the record i didnt TOUCH A DROP while i was pregnant and i have a BEAUTIFUL and SMART daughter to show for it.Cheers :d

          Re: weekend bender

          Thanks MJ

I don't think it would be peer pressure so much as I think my resolve my be weakening. When I decided to start MWO I want to be a social drinker. I think I probably should have defined "social" prior to starting. I think I'll take one day at a time. Today is Friday and I'm not going to drink today.

            Day 5

Magnum, that's the way to go. I finally decided to do 30 days abs last Sunday, after I had been drinking most of the weekend. I was never drunk, just constantly buzzed, but it wasn't fun and I was stuck indoors, cable out, internet out, everything, so I watched movies and kept drinking. No way out and no where to go, so Sunday night, I decided 30 days abs for me with a strict diet too. Hasn't been easy but it's easieer every day and I made sure that I didn't say I would "try" this time, just that I would do the 30 days with NO SUGAR, meaning NO ALCOHOL...I'm still detoxing from the diet too, but each day is better. I used to fast and cleanse too, so the first 4-5 days are usually the worst...Hang tough but do what's right for you.

              Re: Day 5

just keep posting and breathing. you can make it through friday. you are at day 5 yes? it is easier usually than day 4 and i find each after that gets a bit smoother. so one day at a time. see what comes up and play that out to to the end. the only thing you have to do is not pick up that first drink.

                Re: Day 5

                Hi Mag...
                You're doing a great job!
I'm total abs now as I tried the mod thing for a couple of months and found that I couldn't hold to one or two drinks a few days a week. I think if I get drunk just one day a week, I still have one day that I don't have control of. I want to be in control of my drinking, if I do it again, every day.
We are all different and have different goals but I think one thing we can all agree on is the being in control thing. Have you read the alcohol and the brain info on this thread? It has some enlightening stuff on there. It takes awhile for your body to start to process the sugar correctly and recover from the overabundance of it in your system. SUGAR IS A DRUG! :rolleyes

Hang in and keep posting and reading!

                    Re: Day 5

                    Hi everyone,

Just an update, only drank once last week. It was kind of planned and I knew I was going to drink on Sunday. I was scared for Monday and if I would continue back into my old habits. Well, Monday came and went and I didn't drink a drop. I did think about it.....imagine that right? I did drink too much on Sunday. I think around 12 beers, trying to find the positive.......that's ony 12 for the week and very much down from my usual 42 or so a week. 12 may have been a little much but I'm thinking it's a good start.

I'm taking the supplements and eating a lot protien and seems to be helping. This morning I don't have an urge to drink. Now, if I could keep that feeling all through the week!

I have finally figured out what socially drinking is to me......I'm not going to drink alone and I'm going to limit my drinking to the weekends. If you think about and apparently I hadn't.....Social drinking has to mean with someone else, dah!

But you should be totally proud of yourself.Any improvement is a Great step!Keep up the good work mag,i hope i can too. mj
