Re: One Step at a Time - September 2019

Happy hump day! Anyone else confused with the day of the week, on account of the holiday Monday? Jeez. Rusty, have a great trip. Yes I did know you live in Wisconsin, I just got so excited about the cheese! bird, what a great idea with the walking stick. I guess you still have things in boxes? Did the furniture come yet? Nora, glad you got to see the baby again. I know you just can't get enough of her. How does your mom react to her. I can just picture her all smiles. My dad would just light up when he saw Logan, well up until the end anyway.
I'm sorry about that feeling Nora. I think it's probably a good reminder to not pick up again. One of my coworkers was in a foul mood today. My office manager said that the coworkers husband "fell off the wagon" again. He gets very mean when he drinks. Coworker has mentioned his sobriety to me, but not this latest incident. I feel bad for her. I've decided I will listen to A if she wants to talk, will not participate in any way to the gossip about it. (Which is minimal, but still). Just can't get away from this drinking demon. He fell down the stairs in June and fractured ribs and had a concussion, sigh. . .
That's pretty much all that's new here. Talked to mom today and she has been very down the last 3 or 4 days. I'm sure she is lonely and depressed. I just don't know how else to help her. Like she always says, one day at a time.
Wishing you all a great AF night!

Pauly - I hope that you are feeling better. I think I saw that you were sick. Hope the baby is ok. How is Lou enjoying Kindergarten?

Cross post Nora. She said the mammo should be read by tomorrow. If anything needed to be discussed or repeated they would call me, so I am assuming within the next few days. Every year I go it's different procedure. I really just want to be done with that hospital.

Pauly, feel better!

Liz - that is hard about your coworker's husband. Good for you for avoiding gossip. I am sorry about your Mom. Would she be interested in any craft classes/book clubs or something like that? Just something different to get her out. Or a senior exercise group. It is natural to be depressed but still so sad.

Did I tell you that I got mom a 'twiddle cat'? I don't know if this link will work Twiddle Cat .
Anyway - so far so good. She has been restless & picking at her skin & clothes. Picking fuzz off blankets, etc. So, now she has this to play with - different sensory things on it. It is pretty cool.

Pauly - is work any better? I know what you mean about the women - we've had issues at my job over the years. I've had to referee quite a few spats. Then ends up being accused of playing favorites. LOL
I just go thru with a smile on my face and a hello to the people I see. And let them talk behind my back. Ha, ha. Seriously though - I am sorry that you're having to deal with all that drama. It's so negative and it makes it hard to work!

Hi all,
Nora, that twiddle cat is funny looking. My dd1 would love it. Maybe I will get it for her xmas. Sweet you are singing to S.....Lizann, sorry your Mom is down. It takes so long to feel better. Too bad about the guy falling off the wagon...no the darn furniture hasn't come yet. Had I known it takes so long I would have ordered from amazon...found my wood burner finally..going to band practice I guess. Went swimming, still hot here, in the 90s..I am ready for winter....

Re: One Step at a Time - September 2019

Hi all - almost time to start winding down for bed. We try to keep a little bit of a schedule with Mom and have her in bed by 9:00 and usually earlier.
I'm ready for Friday.

Bird - Mom really does like the twiddle cat. One of the snaps pulled off so I'm exchanging it for another one. I did read that in a couple of the reviews so hopefully this one will be better.
Nice that you could go swimming. We're supposed to have hot weather for a few days. So, I'm ready for the pool this weekend.

Liz - what happened with your boss and the kids? I forget. How are you doing? How was work and your co-worker?

Rusty - do you ever go on the cheese factory tours? My SIL & her husband are up in Oregon and with to the Tillamook cheese factory. She sent me some photos.

We take Molly in to the eye specialist tomorrow. I'm hoping they can save her other eye. I hope that everyone has a wonderful morning/afternoon/evening.

Hey everyone. Nora, thanks for asking about the boss situation. As hard as it was I told him I wasn't comfortable with the whole sItuation. Our cars are owned by hubby's company and if I had an accident with them in the car, his company would be liable. I finally figured if he had the nerve to ask, I could have the nerve to say no. He left early yesterday to pick up one of his kids and brought her to the office for the afternoon. Keep us posted about Molly tomorrow. You never did mention what it was with her eyes? I'm glad you try to keep mom on a routine. They told us that was so important for my dad too. I'm sure I asked you already, but does she sleep all night? Nights were often difficult for dad. bird, it's still really hot here too. No time for the pool, though. We took the baby out early for a walk. I hope you enjoy band practice.
All good on my mammo, yay! Spoke to CJ and Joe and they are working so hard on the patio around the house. It's going to go around most of the house and looks so nice already. Proud of my kids! MArks birthday is Saturday. He will be 25! He is in Nice' France right now and will be spending his birthday on the French Riviera. Happy for him, but I will miss him.
Pauly, you've been quiet, think I'll go looking for you.
Rusty and glassie, I guess you're both still away. Hope you're doing ok.

Re: One Step at a Time - September 2019

Good Morning!

Just a quick pop-in because I am giving a formal dinner party tomorrow and I have to go grocery shopping. prepare all the food and set the table...oh, and decorate for fall...all before tomorrow. YIKES!!!!!

Liz-glad your mammo came out OK. Always such a relief to get it over with...and yes, to be done with that hospital. Sorry to hear about the co-workers' husband, but good for you for not joining in on the office gossip. LOVED the picture of the flowers from Vermont on FB. Stunning! I wish I had those flowers on my deck! Lucky Mark....what a way to spend a birthday. I am so jealous!!

Pauly-I am so sorry work is a drag!:hug:Are you still thinking of changing jobs?

Nora-a twiddle cat? That made me laugh. No, I've never toured a cheese factory. My niece toured the Tilamook factory and just loved it.
bird-come on, furniture, right??? Ugh, that has to be frustrating...hurry up and wait! Did you ever say what instruments your daughter plays? Sorry if you told us and I forgot. :-)

Well, I must run....big hellos to the vacationing Dr. Gladys, NoSugar, abcowboy and other lurkers and friends. :-) Happy AF Friday!

Hi all,
Had a good day and went to a state park that I like. Got some shrimp at the grocery on sale. I don't eat shrimp often but crave it every once in awhile. Nothing happening, kids busy like crazy with homework and work work.....Rusty, dd2 is a percussionist. So am I and dd1 but 1 doesn't do it anymore...the formal dinner sounds fun. Hope it turns out wonderfully for you.....Lizann, glad your mammo was good. The patio sounds great and they will really enjoy it.....Nora, how did it go at the eye specialist...b

Hey everyone. Quick check in and will be back later. But, you all might be in bed before I get back.

Molly has Pigmentary Keratitis. It's like the cornea is covered by this cloud. She is on 3 different eye drops twice a day. But, hopefully, there will be some improvement. The vet said that she can still see - not well but some. Anyway, it's better news than I expected so I'm hoping that the meds will help. Son & family came over to stay with Mom while we were gone. So, I got to hold my baby for a few minutes before I went back to work.

Rusty - have a wonderful dinner party.

Bird - your hike sounds wonderful. Glad you found your burner.

Liz - I'm very happy that you told the Doctor that you didn't want to. Good job!

I better get dinner started. I will probably blab later while you're in bed. :yay: :rotlf:

Rusty, enjoy the decorating and the dinner party. thats a lot to do in a short amount of time, but I know you're good at it. Not taking out my fall stuff yet. I'm just not ready yet. Thought of you today. The girl who cuts my hair went to Wisconsin to her sisters lake cabin for vacation this past summer. She told me all about how beautiful it was. May I ask what's on the menu for this evening?
bird, sounds like everyone is getting back into the swing of things by you. I have always loved the routine when the kids were back at school/work.
Nora, I guess that's good news about Molly. Hopefully she will improve, have you noticed that her vision might be impaired? Hubby and I took Logan for a walk today and we ran into someone with a blind dog. It was a bichon and apparently they are known to get a certain condition he likened to macular degeneration. The dog had a device on that alerted her to things in front of her, kind of like sonar.. She was walking along happily. You'd never know she was blind. He said she has been blind for 2 years, she is 12.
paulywogg, Happy Birthday! Hope you're doing something fun and enjoying some cake.

I'm working tomorrow, so I better get off to bed! Have a great AF night everyone!

Hi all. I'm having a nice Saturday of just puttering around. Was reading and then put on music and cleaned some. Hubby is all into pulling out the Halloween decorations. It is not like a nice display of Autumn. I'm talking that I'm going to have Scarecrows and Ghosts and Witches and scary props around for the next 6 weeks. :rotlf: It makes him happy.

What is everyone else up to? I really miss Gladys and Pauly.
