hiya all how are we today then?its really windy over here it was supposed to rain but it isnt its just really humid ..the temps are supposed to plummet tonight ...great Ive got about 80 odd plants on the go in the greenhouse waiting to go out !the farmer has put his cattle in the top field behind our house Shorthorn cattle tho the horns dont look so short to me!there are also 4 calves Yesterday I watched the deer jumping the field fences ...no trouble at all ..the morning before I saw a barn owl...there are also a pair of nesting goldfinches .and a pair of kestrels .I cant see a direct link between that and the lockdown tho

thanks for the start up ppqp...hope all is well in Albertasville..how did the breakfast go...well done bacon?

the possibility of a bigger van looms nearer!the rules for going abroad are not conducive to flying ..firstly isolation in the country you fly to ,secondly no all inclusive holidays ,etc and on the way home 2 weeks isolation at home ...pointless exercise. As I say we have plans but even travelling in uk to sites etc will take time to open them all up .

A Quarantine Lockdown Day tip to liven up your day

    You will need the following;

    A sheet of newspaper
    A reasonably soft dog poo
    One disposable latex glove
A box of matches or cigarette lighter.

Proceed to the house of an obnoxious neighbour (so many to choose from).
Place dog poo carefully on the doorstep, cover with the newspaper, set fire to the newspaper, ring door bell, do a runner.

Watch gleefully as neighbour opens door, spots burning newspaper and stamps on it to extinguish it. Try not to laugh out loud as he/she retreats into the house unaware that his/her slipper is trampling dog sh.te through the house.

Remove latex glove, rinse and repeat.

      Re: May 10th

It’s a gorgeous Sunday here. Likely not many more of those before the serious heat kicks in. It’s been many weeks since I went out to see my dad. All masked up, of course, but Dad slept through my visit. Not a big deal since conversation is no longer possible.

Lots of folks out not wearing masks, and oblivious to the directional arrows down store aisles. What are people thinking ? Are people thinking?

PQ hope you enjoyed breakfast . Such a thoughtful gesture! You have a great memory; this front garden I’m planting is at the new place. Same complex, smaller condo, bigger yard.

Mick, will look forward to hearing what you figure out in the travel department. A challenge for sure.

Waves to Pauly, Lav, Sam, Det, TG etal. It feels really good to be back.

        Evening greetings Abbers,

All sun today & it warmed up to almost 60. Anything is better than freezing at this point haha!!
Found an open garden center today, needed grass seed & I found a bag of 40 iris bulbs for under $10, nice

PQ, hope your breakfast was nice & not burned, Lol.
Give that snow a ‘GO AWAY’ from me, OK?

Mick, the wildlife sounds a little frenetic in your neighborhood today, haha!
I can hear the wild turkeys in the woods behind us every evening, strange birds. This is about the time of year that i find those big black snakes in the chicken house - I go out there every day prepared!!!
I’m kinda glad your politicians are as goofy as ours. I’d hate being the only one dealing with this sh*t LOL

Pie, we are really glad you’re back too
So your Dad is still be cared for in his home? That a tough situation, been there & done it too.
Are you still dog sitting? I think my training is near completed with my dog. She definitely knows the 150 ft boundary around the house but she still impulsively goes after the UPS driver when he pulls up & she gets corrected, ouch. THe UPS driver knows her & throws a dog cookie from the truck, haha!

Hello Sam, hoped you warmed up a bit today too! We had the fireplace last night to keep from freezing.

Det, hello to you & hope you are well.

Pauly, Happy Mother’s day to you.

        Have a nice night all!

hi all...well the lockdown gets better go to work if you cant do it at home dont use public transport unless you have to if you have to ..maintain a 2m gap..on a feckin bus??I can spend all day outside if I wish wherever I want but cant go and see any relatives even if I maintain a distance between us.then it changes ..no dont start work till wednesday ..and yes you can see one parent ..and you can also meet one person that you dont live with providing you stay your distance .and Scotland Ireland and Wales are doing different ..and on top of that anyone coming into uk via plane must self isolate for 14 days ..unless you come from Ireland or France ..also if you come from France you can come thru the eurotunnel without any problems ..

did we all get that?easy innit..oh and if you didnt there is a 50 page accompanying document to help you out...

              MAE ALL...

Pi...I remember now that you were talking of moving. Sounds like you made the right choice, smaller inside area to keep clean and larger outside area to enjoy.

Lav...nice score on the iris's. Because of COVID, 2 of my gardeners can't come back this year so myself and another member are going to plant potatoes in both the plots just to hold them for next year. That'll be the extent of my gardening this year. It's a lot easier when I'm at the centre every day for work.

Sam...hope your day stayed purty, it's overcast here, 30F but there's no snow.

Mick...most of the snow has gone now, finally. Temps are supposed to improve by the end of the week just in time for the garden opening. I'm telling you, everybody better follow the rules! I watched your prime ministers update and I think I'll pass on the book. LOL The boss has headed off to his cottage in a different province for the week. What a fine example he is. Last time we had major reno's going on at the centre he buggered off then too.

Went out to get a few items this morning, one of which was 2ltr coke. Son knocked it over when he put it on the counter and then proceeded to open it. It exploded all over the kitchen. I was just thinking the kitchen needs a good wipe down and now I don't have to do it. LOL Have a good day all....:smile:PPQP

                Greetings Abbers,

Chilly today, frost warning again for tonight. Does anyone know WTF is going on?? Such crazy weather almost everywhere
I have to send the YB out to cover up the strawberry bed again (not my job), Lol
Made a rather tasty batch of oat flour English muffins this afternoon. I did that primarily to get my mind off of donuts.....have been wanting to make some for a few days.
Read a good article about chicken cognition today - they are smart, I always thought so .Poultry Cognition—Are Chickens Smart? - Backyard Poultry

Hi Sam, still chilly here! Guess you have noticed it too.

Mick, I posted a screen shot On FB of today’s Covid statistics for my state & surrounding states that clearly shows we are not ready to reopen businesses. I’m not going to die of stupid, that’s for sure regardless of what the Washington idiots want. Stay home & stay safe!

PQ, have fun planting potatoes, don’t freeze your hands off. Glad to hear your son is a good floor & wall mopper, haha!!!

                Hello pauly, what’s up?
                Hello to Pie too.
Det, where are you these days?

Just read Cyn’s latest update on her husband who has been on a vent in iCU for the past 2 weeks. They are lightening his sedation & weaning him now, lung function much improved. This is good news but we need to keep sending them our positive thoughts & prayers

                  Re: May 10th

Lav, yes my Dad still lives with his wife/caregiver. She’s an amazing woman, and I’m very grateful for all that she does.

I would be open to dog sitting, but since no one is traveling, there’s currently no need. I did take in a new foster dog in December. He seems to have some neuro or muscular issues though that we’ve not yet found a diagnosis for. I’ll be working today to get him appointment with a specialist.

PQ - if the weather cooperates, maybe the potato planting will be a nice distraction for you.

Mick - you done reading 50+ pages of Covid instructions and updates yet? Sounds like a good remedy for insomnia.

                  Greetings to all the others.

                    morning all,
yesterday started out purty but then the wind was very strong, reminding me I need to get my summer time hair trim!
Lav, we're still building a fire at night and it is almost mid May!
Mick, when I was done with the flu this winter, I quit coffee for about a month. I needed to cause like booze I tend to over indulge. Unlike I booze I seem to keep it at a minimum (for now anyway). Definitely better for the blood pressure to not.
PQ, when is the snow season over for you? actually, when does it begin??
Pie, everything has come to a halt unfortunately. No good answers but it seems in our area people think it will not affect them, makes me even more nervous.
                    Det, how's you been?
off to work, social distancing in the mountains today!

Mae everybody, PQ, your coke story made me laugh haha, my toilet overflowedd in the morning yesterday and it was a good reason to hafta mop the floor, my personal bathroom tends to get ignored just cuz I'm the only one who uses it, Mick your list is about as confusing as ours on what we're supposed to do, Lav, I am surprised that your numbers were that high, very scary, Pie, I'm glad your dad and his wife seem to be pretty happy, I know it was weird for you at first I think, Sam, good to see you, much love to all and wishes for a great BF Tuesday for us all
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

hiya all how are we today then?goodhopefully ...a real frost here this morning...even more stupidity in the covid rules ..some crazy stuff here!Im going to do my own thing ..which isnt a million miles from what Ive been doing already...there are too many d.cks around to even think about trusting people ..they still havent worked out to do about holidays etc yet ...spain has said it will impose 14 days lockdown on people coming on holiday ...then you go back to uk for another 14 day lockdown ..so a 2 week holiday will cost you 4 weeks isolation!
Im grouting tiles in the bathroom ..a job I hate with a passion !! but got to be done ..

hiya Sam ..Ithink it isnt just where you are ..there is a nucleus of the covid wont get me folk everywhere!...unfortunately they are the assholes it doesnt ..they simply pass it on ..stay safe

                          MAE ALL...

Mick...did you check with the boss about the colour of the grout? Would hate for you to have to do it twice. LOL It's another cold, miserable morning here, makes it easy to stay indoors. The more the city opens up the more I'm sticking to home. Like you I don't trust those yahoo's.

Pauly...what I would give for a personal bathroom! The re-opening is confusing here too but the bottom line for all businesses is "If you don't feel ready to re-open, don't". And quite frankly even if you do open it doesn't mean "they will come".

Sam...actually we can get snow every month of the year. LOL We generally start getting snow in late October (lately it's been September) and March is usually our heaviest snowfall month. Mind you we've had some wicked snow storms in May. Our zone is deemed frost free as of June 1st. So gardening can get really tricky around here. LOL

Pi...I too remember when your Dad wanted to marry his caregiver and the reservations you had. I'm so glad it all worked out in the end. It must be a relief for you that he's being well taken care of. I was wondering about your 4 legged family as well, and of course with no traveling no sitting required. Good luck getting your foster dog into see a specialist. It looks like the weather is going to smarten up for my potato planting this weekend.

Lav...haven't you heard? Mother Nature is ensuring the dingbats stay indoors. Made a hashbrown casserole for breakfast for breakfast and it smells really good. Can hardly wait for the "ding". Thanks for keeping us informed of TG.

Det...getting a little worried that we haven't heard from you for awhile. You didn't sneak off to Italy did you?

OK...there's the "ding". Have a good day all....:smile:PPQP

                            Greetings Abbers,

Ha ha PQ, I love to hear the‘ding too
We have a freezer out in the garage, every now & then I take stock of what we have. Well, we have enough ground turkey to feed the planet for the next few weeks. Of course YB came home from a fire company meeting, stopping at Costco on the way & came home with more ground turkey, Lol. I think IÂ’ll make up a big batch of meatballs or butrgers or something, geez! IÂ’m staying as close to home as I can until it feels safer to step out a bit.

Mick, hope the grouting went well. When we built this place we skipped the tiled showers & used the plastic showers (or whatever they are). Easier to keep clean, no grouting to deal with anymore, gratefiul.
Cold still but the wind seems to be dying down so that helps. Friday will be >80 degrees so the AC will probably turn itself on again, crazy! The supermarkets have little to no flour but I usually have a pretty good stock around here. Helps that i can get some in the Amish stores when needed.

Pauly, thereÂ’s a lot of Covid in PA but nearby NJ has it really bad!!! No one is going to be able to vacation at the beaches this year
DonÂ’t you have a plumber living in your house to take care of things?? Ha ha!

Pie, I’m sure your ‘guests’ will be back at some point. Everything everywhere is just odd & different unfortunatley. Hope you can get some medical help for your foster.
My daughter told me today that their school superintendent is considering ending the school year early. The kids have be doing online school. He seems to think in Septemeber they may have the kids in school two days/week & do online classes the other three days. That way they can have smaller classes & try to maintain social distancing. What a hard way for 3 & 4th graders to learn - not to mention thier parents!

Sam, fire tonight & AC on Friday, LOL. Ridiculous!!!!

Det, hello & hope you are OK!

Think I’ll go walk for a bit, better than sitting.
                            Have a nice night all!
