"Well it sounds like he must live out in the country and been banned from driving too."

    morning all.
Mick, got a good chuckle out of the chicken coop this AM, thanks for the brew and laughs. Going to Rappahannock County today. Going to see how the other half lives. Yesterday went a couple of places. This one below was a beautiful place. Not sure you can tell but I like show and tell.

Calves seem to be doing fine. Getting fall bush-hogging done a little at a time. Fall garden coming up.
PQ, I missed something; problem with new car?? Computer glitch?? Had a Toyota that had one of those in the transmission brain. It changed gears back and forth at random..... $2000 later.....

Good morning Abbers, it's hump day

Thanks for the startup Mick! Are you really getting a taste of Fall already? I'm jealous!!
My raised beds have been cleared of summer plants & now have broccoli, cauliflower & brussel sprouts planted - yum.
I still have musk melons coming in & have been giving them to anyone & everyone!!! My watermelons totally flopped - did not get a single watermelon & I have no idea why. The camper looks awesome

Det, glad to see you! Stay tuned in so we can keep an eye on you, OK?

PQ, your language is atrocious, HA HA!!!!
I hope everything is really OK with you

Sam, you do appreciate those southern style homes, good for you!
Glad the babies are doing OK!

Greetings bear, Pauly, NS, Pie & everyone checking in today.
I need to prepare for the arrival of the stinkers. Have a great AF day everyone!

Mae everybody, Mick,is it just plain ole fishing that you're doing?maybe somebody said that already, got me wondering, my feelings this morning are like PPQP's post yesterday $@$#%$!!! Yes I can try to change myself but I can't change others and its pissing me off,it would be one thing if it was strangers but my family are the culprits, here's the deal, when we went home I was super proud of my baby brother cuz he quit drinking in May,I thought "oh my prayers have been answered and he got sober to be a better dad" yada, yada, found out from Kell that him and is girlfriend are snorting painkillers!just fecking lovely, and my other brother stopped by and he used to be on method and I think he's back on it or something, he was out of it and Michelle took off, dunno where she's at,sunuvabich! Sorry for ranting, I'm just very disappointed, however one positive is,now I know I only have ME, I have to get MY life straight, can't judge anybody else if I'm a wreck drinkin and carrying on,the hell with everyone who won't take responsibility for their own lives,I'm done losing sleep over it,anyways, i did cut back on zee smokes yesterday, I think I'm gonna hafta taper, bought some nicotine gum, hubs asked how it was working, well it probably would if I'd actually chew it instead of it sitting in my purse...unopened ok,positive Pauly, positive Pauly thank you guys for always being dear friends to me,there's no way I could do this without each and every one of you, that's no bullshit either, I need your positive influences and"normalcy" haha, much love to ALL let's kick Wednesdays ass
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

            MAE ALL....

Mick...thanks for kicking us off. Signs of fall already, I'm jealous too. Especially since we're in day 2 of a heat wave. I'll have to do some thinking on that last line for Pauly. The bongofury looks ace, will be interested in your opinion after your trip in September. Enjoy your lunch date.

Sam...your picture reminds me of when I used to drag the kids to open houses on Sundays. Had to quit doing that cause it was so depressing going home. LOL Had the car home for a week and then heard on the news Ford was issuing a recall. Car doesn't know it's turned off even after removing the key. Hasn't happened to me and the fix is covered so just the hassle of taking it in.

Lav...thanks and yes everything is OK. Got to the garden meeting last night to find the boss (who had called in sick yesterday) had not requested a bartender for the function that was going on. Luckily I had sent an email to the catering staff in the afternoon so someone eventually showed up only to find all the pop canisters were empty. Meeting was on hold till I sorted things out so it was a late start. Then one of the executives was suggesting all kinds of ideas which the majority were opposed to. Made for a late evening, after which I just left. I'm tired of doing everyone else's jobs. I hope the bartender made out ok but I'm not stressing over it.

Boss is taking everyone out for lunch tomorrow to talk about our 50th anniversary gala then I'm off for my first 4 day weekend. Best decision I've ever made. Shout out to all stopping in later, Det stay close.......:smile:PPQP

Gotta love spell check eh Pauly....Wow, and I thought I had issues. At least mine are work related and I can always just walk away. You got it right in the end though, all you can do is look after you. They're going to do what they want whether you worry about them or not. Good positive choice and I'm right there with you kicking Wednesday's ass.

              No doubt about it.

Today, I'm either going to start painting, or I'm going to make sense of Mick's cluez. Unless I do neither.

Crack me up! Did you read that blog I posted in LOAMERS the other day about one of the perks of age (she is 60 - I know you're much younger than that b/c we're the same :wink being not worrying about stuff in general anymore? I'm getting in to not feeling like I actually need to do everything on my list! And guess what? The world keeps turning...

Hope you're all fine, Abbers, Other than being ready to scratch myself to death, I'm fine.

hey everyone, home from work - and I too an skipping things on to do list today - skipping gym and in pjs eating hula hoops.Decided I was tired and am doing yoga tomorrow, spin on Friday and class on Sunday - enough to be getting on with.
Overnight oats for dinner so hoping that all balances out for me.

Had a good but busy day, passing responsibility back to people for their work issues rather than me trying to fix everything.Feeling a little calmer today, step by step, day by day.

Still smoking but minimal and not stressing about it atm,OH and I are quitting at the weekend.
Later may do some reading and have a bath.Think I've been sober now for just over 2 months, trying not to focus on it so I don't tempt fate. Plodding along a bit,not much to add.

PQ, I love those laughing emotis! Hope you're sliding smoothly into your 4 day weekend right about now.

NS, not sure if I clicked that link, though I do open most of yours. I read somewhere that our 40s are the old age of youth, while the 50s are the youth of old age. The good news and the bad news are in there somewhere! As you say, the world will keep turning in even if we don't make it through our lists. Sorry to hear your hives are acting up, must wreak havoc on your sleep!

Mick's secret is safe from me for yet another day, but Pauly's got a theory that sounds like it might fit. I guess we'll see what the boss has to say.

Thanks for re-posting the link here, NS. Loved the article, and fully relate to its interesting insights. This paragraph is a favorite:

Take a pass on bad manners, on thoughtlessness, on unreliability, on carelessness and on all the other ways people distinguish themselves as unappealing specimens. Take a pass on your own unappealing behavior, too: the pining, yearning, longing and otherwise frittering away of valuable brainwaves that could be spent on Sudoku, or at least a jigsaw puzzle, if not that Beethoven sonata you loved so well in college.

This is the paragraph that made me think of everyone here, regardless of age:
The key to life is resilience, and I’m old enough to make such a bald statement. We will always be knocked down. It’s the getting up that counts.
Getting past an addiction is an amazing show of resilience, I think, and makes other knocks of life seem like things resilient people like us will be able to handle.
