    Scared, but exited!

    Hello everyone

This is my first 'post' which is an achievement in itself - I am a technophobe...

I am hop:new: ing to start this programme today (have the MWO book, kudzu, supps, CDs). And an appointment to see my GP today - hope that he will prescribe to topa when I tell him about this.

What do I do if he won't prescribe topa?

      Hi Chaaku
Sounds as though you have made strong decisions to try to tackle your drinking problem, what with having the book, CD, Kudzu and supps all to hand. Don't despair if the GP will not prescribe for you, but do ask GP for support and not to be dismissive of 'alternative' approaches. You are a lot braver than I am! Good luck. Hope to hear how you got on later.

          Scared, but exited!

          Hello there

My GP would not prescribe topa without referring me to a local specialist who I have subsequently found out is on long term sick leave. Getting the medication is a big psychological thing for me as that is what RJ did. Am feeling a bit desperate now and not surprisingly drinking wine....

Any advice would be very welcome Butterfly..

          Thanks

              Thanks Sidney

I may well do that myself. I know that topa is going to be a vital part of the programme for me.

              Many thanks

                Scared, but exited!

Hi Chaaku. I just wanted to say hi and welcome. I am new here as well, in fact yesterday was Day #1 for me taking the full range of MWO supplements and doing the CD program. I do not have the Topa yet - I had to order it on-line for insurance reasons, etc. There is a REALLY good thread...let me see if I can just put a link here....**going to look for thread**...

                https://www.mywayout.org/community/f2...cess-8755.html

Hopefully you can just click on that link but if not, it's a thread called "Topomax Survey" in the secion of the discussion forum for the meds...Topomax, etc. etc. A poster named Paddy started the thread and details his own experience with Topomax, and many other people have contributed information to the thread. It's long - I read the whole thing though and that helped me feel comfortable ordering on line.

I am not expecting my shipment until late July, So I started everything else without the Topa, and yesterday was my first Alcohol Free day in...I can't even remember.

Best wishes to you. I hope we can do this!

Hi Chaaku ... I'm a newbie myself and just starting this journey again -- this time with a great "I can do it" attitude. Feels different this time, and I like that.

Sounds like you're armed well, with the stuff from this site, Kudzu, etc. Hope to see lots of posts from you and hear how things are doing for you! I'm personally a little afraid of the prescribed drugs, but am looking forward to the Kudzu (on order) - it sounds amazing.

                  Best wishes to you!

                      Hi again Chaaku,
Disappointed for you that the GP would not prescribe but wanted to refer you to specialist, then to be told s/he is on long-term sick leave. Don't despiar, you had such courage of your convictions before you visited GP today that I am sure you can do this without the prescription you had hoped for. Can the GP refer you on to a different specialist? Or perhpas in view of this specialist being away the GP would re-consider prescribing for you?
For now though, you have the MWO kit, so give it a go with some of that PMA you showed earlier. Keep in touch for the support here.
                      Be back later

                        Hi Doggie and Catt

Thanks for your reponses. I have had a really frustrating day - not being able to get my GP to script the topa for me and then discovering that no doctor will prescribe it in the UK. I have just ordered some on-line which I won't receive for about 3 weeks. Considering starting the rest of the programme tomorrow without the topa and taking heart and inspiration from you Doggie. Well done!

                          Hi butterfly

Thanks for that. I was holding out for the topa, but feel inspired to get on with the rest of the programme anyway.

Really appreciate you input and support. I am going to start listening to the CDs tonight.

                          Many thanks

                            Hi Chaaku,
Good to hear you still have that 'positive mental attitude' which you started out with this morning.
I hope the CDs help and the PMA is even stronger tomorrow.
                            Keep in touch.

**waving to Catt** with WE CAN DO THIS vibes for everyone.

Chaaku, thank you for the compliment. With most things in life I find I can either smile or frown. It's my choice to view the cup half empty or half full and I really try to see things half full as much as possible. I'm sorry the doctor couldn't help, but good for you doing what you gotta do, and also committing FOR YOURSELF to start working towards your goals despite this disappointment.

Well holy moly the Topa I was not expecting until late July just showed up. Now I have to decide if I really want to take the plunge or not..... I suppose it can't hurt just to give it a test drive and see what the difference in like.......

There is some strange karma floating around out there today I think.
