Women Who Run with the Wolves

I was shopping again today in preparation for our holiday and came across a treasure from long ago at the Salvation Army.

Women Who Run With the Wolves written by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Ph.D.
It has been at least 16 years since I have last looked at it, just after I started treatment for depression with the then "new and miraculous Prozac". I don't remember a lot specifically about it, many years of drinking have passed since then, I do remember that I loved it.

I do remember a poem though, from the book, that I typed out, framed and put on the wall in my kitchen. By the kitchen sink. Where I spent most of my time.

I saw myself. The Prozac had opened up the world for me, free of depression at last.

    .....one night
there's a heartbeat at the door.
Outside, a woman in the fog,
with hair of twigs and a dress of weed,
    dripping green lake water.
    She says "I am you,
and I have travelled a long distance.
Come with me, there is something I must show you..."
She turns to go, her cloak falls open,
    Suddenly, golden light.......everywhere, golden light....."

Blessings to all who are struggling,

    m. xx

      Magic!

I have that book and only managed a third a few years ago. Think I may try it again. It was very inspiring! I remember it making me feel strong and beautiful as a woman.

      Thanks for the reminder!

        Sounds very uplifting, magic.

Reminds me of there being "light at the end of the tunnel".

Wonderful that you reached your light, magic........gives hope to all. Thankyou.

I work for the company that invented Prozac. Like you, this product has had a positive impact on my life. Going to work is sometimes a struggle for me, but when I read messages such as yours, I feel much better ... nice to know that what I do on a daily basis is important to someone.

That is a wonder analogy for where I've been and where I am trying to go, I feel like I am turning, and can almost see the golden light.... what a wonderful feeling.... keep at it everyone, I have found that it's a wonderful, enlightening journey
It always seems impossible until it's done....
