OK, here goes. Prepared to mortify myself. This poem was written by yours truely, winner of the elementary poetry contest - 5th Grade

          April is a dreary month,
with all it's showers and rains.
          And everyone you talk to,
          always complains.

          But when that old May
makes it's way, and flowers pop and bloom,
in the backyard, for your feet,
          there's hardly any room!

          Thank you, Thank you!!!:H
          :kudos:

          :h Best

I LOVE THIS!!!! I spent my entire 20's drinking with people (including a boyfriend) who didn't care about me and are no longer in my life. Its still painful to think about.

I love that too...someone recently passed that on to me & it really sunk in... especially when combined with this other quotation that I posted this past week. Between the two, they really put our relationships in perspective... how we should accept the fact that some people are only in our lives for a reason & a season, why we shouldn't feel bad when we part ways and move on....
and also to help us realize which people we should appreciate more & never take for granted.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met , our desire fulfilled, their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons,
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

                        I bet
                        Met a pet
                        as wet
                        as they let this
                        wet pet get.

                          Tomorrow

                          Tomorrow
                          when i come see you
i will clean my pockets out
i will throw away the cans of laughter
the pills that make me happy and the bag of smiles i keep
                          to hide my embarrassment.
i will come to you empty handed...
                          alone and unsmiling
and you will look at me-- and stare and say, "who is this girl,
                          i do not know her"
but i will tell you the hours we wished
                          away together
                          and you will remember vaguely
                          that it is me
and you will say puzzled, "it is you, but
                          you have changed so'
and i answer nothing-- for i am ashamed
                          ashamed because--
                          because i have deceived you
then when you look at me, again, not
                          understanding
and i see the openness in your eyes
                          the kindness... the quiet peace
i will smile and say "welcome, it is me for
                          the first time"
and we will walk away together--
                          hand in hand
and i will turn once more
                          to look at you
                          to remember you
                          you are not smiling either.

Hey Lucky, we were all invited to post our poems or poems that had some meaning for us or that we found amusing.
                            Sorry you don't like them.
Hippie, thanks for putting up the Longfellow, a great American poet. Very insightful and uplifting. I don't know why but I am always impressed with men's sensitivity and passion expressed in music, poetry and art. Maybe they're just so good at hiding it that when I see it I am moved. I also checked out your favorite band.

The boy stood on the burning deck, his face was all a-quiver
He gave a cough, his leg fell off
                                And floated down the river!
