Good Morning fellow troopers!
Well the weather here on the coast is just plain rotten. Bucketing down at the moment so it is a good thing to be stuck behind a desk right now.

I'm doing well, just crazy busy over the summer with kids schedules etc. I will be happy when school starts again and we get into some sort of norm."Keep your eyes and heart focused on the end goal at all times, and never settle for less."

Hi guys
Yes Oners, this story is so horrrific, I first heard about it on Tuesday. So very sad that it was allowed to go so far. Think it deserves a thread in it's own right - it's a warning to all of us of the damage we are potentially doing to ourselves. If alcohol made you happy I should be the happiest person alive! I'm not.

So how did this bright-eyed little boy come to die of drink at 22? Read his mother's story and decide | Mail Online
Oney, I see kids with very similar lifestyles to Gary's every day. The're out in the parks with their carry-outs when they should be at school, running away from the police. I get asked to go into the shop for booze by kids regularly. I know them. Some of their parents know what they do and some don't. One of my neighbours has four kids, three of whom have taken up her lifestyle and are drinking constantly. They are in their late teens and early twenties now, but it's been going on for years. They gravitate into groups. Which ever one gets their money that day buys a huge load of booze for everyone and the next day someone else gets paid. They steal anything they can sell. The police are onto them but there's only so much they can do. They get arrested and let out the next day. Over the years I've known lots of them die, or be killed or kill themselves. It's terrible, but it seems to be the way that the kids caught up in this situation exist. Some see the error of their ways or grow out of it, but for most of them, it's the start of a steep and very slippery slope to lifelong alcoholism, jail time and often death. I'm not exaggerating. Sometimes I feel terrible for bringing my kids up in this environment. I should have up and left to a better place. It's too late now but if I could do it again, I'd be out of here in a flash.
Anyway, How's things?
I slept like a big, long lazy thing last night and am once more fighting fit and cheerful.

Good afternoon all.
Your absolutley right pops. The fact that I can buy booze cheaper per litre now at 34 than I could at 17 is crazy. Bulk buying and binge drinking is getting worse and worse, and the supermarket wars are making buying booze cheaper every month. They 'target' kids and school holidays. The government do nothing about it except promote and exploit it as it brings them in so much money. 11-18 year olds spent in excess of 800 million on booze last year. We are a sick country indeed pops.To Infinity And Beyond!!

Yes, that is truly a horrific story....
I cannot ever seeing it getting any better in this country unfortunately. Apparently councils are putting more money into addiction treatment, but surely something should go into preventative strategies.Living now and not just existing since 9th July 2008
Nicotine Free since 6th February 2009
