I love the "God of ugly things" moniker!!
When we were little my brothers used to collect them from the creek and keep them in jars. one of my brothers once thought it would be a joke to put one in my bed ..... I must have been about 5. Is it any wonder that I'm a bit neurotic!!!Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

Tigger - Tuesday
Hello everyone!!
Sorry I have been MIA ..... I have been hiding under the bed. Not a very heroic thing to do, but there have been humongous winds here. I thought it must at least be a hurricane, but Miss B just laughed and said that this is why Wellington is known as the windy city. And anyway, it gave them a good excuse to call off the cricket test (which they were losing hopelessly to their Australian mates!!!)
Gale-force winds cause havoc - national | Stuff.co.nz
When it wasn't scary it was quite exhilarating, and I now know what it feels like to have a southerly storm rippling through my fur. Unfortunately, the surfie, wind-blown look doesn't suit me all that well and I snuck off for a quick swim to get my sleek and masculine tigger looks back!! Order has been restored to the Universe!!
Speaking of wind, NZ takes advantage of it and uses it to generate power! This is a wind turbine which we went to look at on the weekend .........

The other thing that I may not have yet mentioned is that Wellington (like a lot of NZ) is incredibly hilly!! It is because geologically it is prone to earthquakes, and some of them have been quite recent (as in having occurred in the past 1,000 years!). My leg muscles are quite sore from all the walking that we have done up hill and down dale. Here are some photos of the hills looking down from the wind turbine, and another one looking up the coast .....

I'm moving on in a couple of days, but not before I have met a sheep! And attended the Hurricanes vs Sharks game at the Cake Tin. Family at home: ... can you remind me of what colours I should wear please!!!Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

I bet you've leant over the railing and had a look - go on admit it, huh huh.
When I come to Wellington that's the first thing I'll be doing, but only for Jan of course. It's time I put my big girl pants on. :grannypants: I hope they fit.
