Slipper finding! Yes. That's it! Find dat slipper; play with dat slipper; sleep with dat slipper and grumble when the owner wants their wet, slimey slipper back.

      Gorgeous dogs.

My girl happened to be in behind said garage door today....she shook uncontrollably for two hours ....still very clingy tonight...she might even have to eat twice as much comfort food and drop twice as much hair tonight.

Lucky our new house mates like dogs so much....

Cant imagine not having dogs. Think it goes back to the time my folks wouldnt let me have one no matter what, so one day months down the line I brought home a stray and was let keep him. Then one day when I came home from school he was gone, had distemper and had to be put down. I had know he wasnt well but try telling a ten year old that was the kindest thing. When I bought my first house I got a pup and he moved in with us on day one. I had to have him put down on Christmas eve when he was 14 as his organs were failing and I cried like a baby. Little footnote: his son is laying at my feet now aged 8 along with his buddy aged 6

In my life, I've had a:

                  Black lab/german shepherd x - died at 17
Great Dane - died at 11 (even the vet was astonished)
                  Jack R x - poisoned at 6
Whippet - run over at 10 months.

Love, love, love dogs but will never get another one.

                        Evening all!
Ficks : don't sweat the small stuff, you'll hop back on deck. me : hmmm....end of seeding may require a couple but hopefully my new found resolve will put a lid on things quickly!
Hi Tawny,bridge,ktab.....yup did have a goldy & she was a pearler of a dog....so sweet & loving & cos we're on a farm, not terribly destructive.Bit disobedient for a bit. But never struck such an awesome temperament on a dog - unconditional love for sure.
I really do like GSP's also Ficks - great great dogs never had the pleasure of owning one (yet). I had a Beagle as a teenager, he was a true rock in my teenage years but ferkin disobedient & very wilful.Lived for 15 yrs. I was devastated when he died (splenic cancer).
Currently my old tart (Kelpie x Weimeraner) is getting pretty deaf, senile, unsteady on her pins, farts a lot, but i love her to pieces.
I'm the same as you Ktab - couldn't exist without a dog by my side.
You're right about the apparent stupidity of Goldies though tawny - but it's selective stoopid as adverse to all out brainlessness like in Irish Setters & dalmations - complete loonies!
I like big dogs, always have, rather than yappy little buggers.

And Bridge, I will get another Goldy & will get pics.
Might upload some fto share of deceased one.....

Tawny, I've also had a long-haired-short-tempered-terrier which wandered in as a stray when i was a kid.

That dog accompanied me over many a grassland and up many a mountain. We were great mates. Except that she would GO anything bigger than she would, including Old English Sheep Dogs, Trucks or whatever.. despite that she lived to be almost 16.

I still carry the spirit of the terrier within me.. she taught me a great deal about getting what you want.. size doesn't matter... never let go... show no fear... how to make your temper work for you.. but erm.. as a child she was a bit of a handful for me.
