        oh and shite this, I just learned my friends and famly went to an event last night, when I asked why I was not told about it they said its because I don't drink... how fecked up is that?

            Not polite IMHO. They should have told you and then left it up to you if you wanted to go or not. So I guess they think that if you don't drink, you can't have fun or be fun to hang out with........

              Yup, its the culture, one is abandoned and treated as a dull boy if they don't drink, people laugh at the fact if someone doesn't drink - so I am an outcast if I do drink and an outcast if I don't. Just can't win.

                Usually they don't let the young kids go very far and they explain the reason to them. That they have to be in school and stuff like that. It's really not the fault of the organizers as much as the fault of the parents who take their kids to auditions like that. It's like those damn beauty contests for little girls where they dress them up in all those fancy clothes and do big-girl hairdo's and makeup and shite. I think they should be banned. To have your child judged on how good they look at such a young age is just asking for trouble in their later years. Teaching a child that appearance is so important is just BS as far as I'm concerned. Okay. Rant for the day over with....

                  Mr. Stirly is almost always the life of the party when we go out with friends. He might not have any alcohol to drink at all, just stick with coffee or coke and if he does drink, he will have only one drink and maybe a glass of wine or two with his meal. Whenever he goes over that, he gets silly and sleepy. And his sister has only once drank al in her whole life and it upset her stomach. And she's a riot. You're right that the different cultures of the different countries have something to do with it.... in some places it's just expected that you "partake"....

                    Dead right Stirly, when I lived in Italy we shared one bottle of beer between 6 people and that lasted the night, I was always frowned upon when I wanted my very own bottle.

                            wanna, that is so crap. ive been very lucky in that my friends have been very supportive... they didnt invite me to things when i was drinking cos i was so unpredictable (well actually very predictable... a pain in the arse)
                            i just found i was thrown out of a pub that i didnt even know i had been in yesterday. NOT GOOD! ive cut back on my campral as it was creating havoc with my bowels. i wasnt convinced it was helping but maybe it was. think ill go back up and go see if doc can give me something to help with the poo!!
                            Today is the tomorrow i worried about yesterday and it turned out fine
