      starting on the Bac today Bridge? or tomorrow? Really really interested in how you do. Ans also interested in you opinions on talking to GPs about stuff that we get on-line and also herbal remedies. My GP is truly fab, but a bit sniffy about recommendations that are based on non-controlled double-blind trials. I can sort of understand that, but when you're desperate and at the last options, any port in a storm is fine!
      Take a quick flight over my way Missy...I just rock on in to my G.P. say something like.....now look ere, I've been reading up on this stuff and I know that I prolly know more about it than you do, so let me have it buster......and he does......he's prescribed Antabuse, Topomax, Tryptophan when it was only available on prescription.......he is only too happy to let me have a go at anything that I want, cause he knows it is infinitley better than my home remedies (4 litres of cheap wine in one sitting). And he doesnt record alcoholism on my file. If I wanted baclofen, I am sure that he wouldnt hesitate.

          Hi Saff. Yes I'm in Massachusetts. I'm on Cape Cod in a town called Wellfleet. My leg is good, thanks. I haven't been on the bike or in the pool in a few weeks. I am however taking long walks on the beach. I'm in town having dinner and deciding what to do with myself. Kind of deserted up here. Talk to you soon. Now get on that photobucket and rip it up!!!

                  I'll be right onto it MIssy........maybe a candidly worded letter to the dufus on your behalf would pack some punch...honestly these blokes are more than happy to peddle other mind altering stuff left right and centre without worrying about future class-actions, but they get thingy about anything off-label,

                      yeah well maybe mention next time, that your controlled double-blind trial of your alcohol elixir ended up with you just uncontrolled and blind...therefore anything else would be far better option:H:H...sorry I couldnt help that one, mad as a hatter

                          Sapphy - my GP is a woman and truly fab. She doesn't worry about off-label, what she worries about is medicating rather than dietary/nutritional/exercise solutions! I'm really lucky in having her as a GP .........but part of the problem is that she also has faith in me and I need to persaude her that her faith is ill-warranted at the moment!

                            MIssy, I was on antabuse (dont know if I have told you this already) for about two months,I found it got me over a hump at that time very well. I now keep a bottle handy and it gives me great comfort to know it is there if I need it. I will just pop one if the going gets too tough and know immediatley that I have no choice...this affects an instant state change in my thinking and kicks the obsessive thoughts to the curb. Great stuff as far as I am concerned. We do whatever it takes and more power to us.

                                No you didn't Sapphy, but that is just the effect I am looking for. After last weekend I am white-knuckling it. Cant believe how fast the compulsion came on again. Grump :thanksbubble:
