Good morning, sweet family. Ruby-are you still covered in purple?? I hope you hear from RC soon.....can someone try to call her on her cell..or maybe they have? Sunny-DAY TWO for you! Sounds like you are doing wonderful - as I knew you would. Sorry about your curtains - you could have just given your neighbors a show for one night, couldn't you? Jan-how are you doing today? I've been thinking a lot about you....is there anyway that you an appeal the unemployment decision? I know my son did and he won....of course, Florida may be different. PM me some time and let me know what kind of books you like to read..I never know what to do with all the books I read-I usually give them to a senior center. I could send them to you. Tracy-I've been worried about your home-especially if you have a probelm with carbon monoxide-can you try to find out soon - like today -- I think they have inexpensive detectors that you can plug in. Zach-DAY 3 for you!!! I am so proud of you and I'm sure your wife is ecstatic. I bet you are enjoying your sons so much more, too. Bird-how are you? What kind of project are you looking for? Well, guys, last week was really hard on me as a Mom and that is why I wasn't around....my older son got caught riding his 4wheeler on the road and I was worried because he is on probation-it looks like he will be okay this time. My youngest son was in a car accident - he has only had his license 4 months - but only by the Grace of God he and his 4 friends in the car were not hurt even though the car went down a 10' bank and came to rest against a tree - only feet away from the bypass below. My husband has been NO support thru all of this and I just kind of withdrew for a bit. I should be used to him by now-and I can pretty much ignore him when it comes to things he says about me, but NOT when he complains about my kids. Anyway, I am feeling stronger and I so appreciate those of you who checked in on me. You guys are my lifeline....truly. Thank you.

Now - off to do some much needed housework...I got caught up on my sleep last night after having my granddaughter for 2 nights, so I have no excuses!!

Hope we all keep our asses in gear today!!!!

I'm dubious about everything. When I first came back to MWO, baclofen sounded like a miracle. Having been on it, I do not find a miracle but a very unpleasant experience. Now I'm planning on going back on antabuse. I'm just not going to make it if a challenge pops up, I have the choice of popping one open. But I get that I'm still banking on medication to help me get permanently AF, and I'm not sure that's a great idea either (the baclofen experiment was proof). I did six months AF a few years ago, and it was a miserable time, during which my anxiety was off the wall, and I made some of the worst life decisions I have ever made during that time.

I read this today, "People who use Antabuse feel liberated. That internal struggle that goes on every day, "Will I drink? Won't I drink?" is silenced when you're on Antabuse. Because drinking is not an option you don't waste your time thinking about drinking, and instead you focus more on your recovery.

That sounds like heaven to me, not have that internal battle of "will I or won't I." I won't have that kind of mental masochism going on, no matter what the situation, what's happening around us (holidays coming up), etc. It sounds almost too good to be true, kind of like the baclofen. Another part of the same article:

"Antabuse is a bridge between your two lives. On the one hand, you have the life that you know. It's not what's good for you, but it's what you know. On the other hand, you have the life that you want to get to. It's better for you, but you don't know how to live there. You don't know how to relax, reward yourself, and celebrate without using drugs or alcohol. Antabuse helps you live in that life long enough so that you can develop new habits and coping skills."

I'm not sure this ol' dog has many new tricks left in her regarding the whole "coping skills" category. Life often feels like stressful drudgery to me when I'm not drinking, but the baclofen really did ease the "stressful" part of that, so I figure if I stay on a minimal dose, maybe there are "coping skills" that could help me, although I really hate that term - just the word "cope" is riddled with contention and struggle.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling. I'm trying to sort out my head.

Tracy-I often say to myself that I thought as we got older, things got easier...well, not in my book....I also have a hard time "coping"....so I understand. I know Jan is having success with the antabuse and I think Bird and Nora? Why not go for it...you can talk to them as they have experience......and don't feel as if you are "rambling"...that's what we are here for...to listen and be supportive.

Forgive me Tracy ...not up to a long post but just wanted to say i have used Antabuse(did so for quite a while) and ive also used Campral for the cravings..
It is true...Antabuse is a sort of bridge between the two lives...going from existing to living..it does work but like so much of this battle it only works if you take it...give it a go girl,there are many here that will help you x

Hey Biz - it is the pest here! LOL You haven't seen me REALLY get started yet!!!! Well people I promised myself that I would clean today to stop me thinking about AL but I am finding myself getting bored with cleaning so am taking a break. My day off, it was always easy to start having a drink around lunchtime - although I would still end up having only about 4, it was still nice to sit out on the step with Maggie (weather has turned nice now - sunny, breezy, a bit chilly but nice) with a cig and a Guinness. so I made a cup of tea and have just sat out there with her, watching the birds and the squirrels. thought I would come and post then get back to my cleaning. Swannie - might call you first. MORE procrastination LOL
