Hiya
!!!! Made it through the work Christmas party/lunch sober! It was not too bad. Felt a little nervous at first but then just got into helping setting things up and making myself useful or whatever
. HOWEVER, a few others did have a bit too much and may be a bit shamefaced tomorrow. It was pretty calm overall. And compared to the party two years ago where I ate NOTHING but poured wine down my throat...I ate like a pig and drank sparkling water
. I feel great!!! Still keeping on my toes though--the holiday season is just starting so must keep on my guard. Isn't there a saying like "the battle was won but not the war" or something like that... Couscous-yum. NOT rice but kinda the same idea-here in France they call it semoule-that is the grain. The actual dish with meat or veg is then called couscous. Or so that's what they tell me
. Like rice or spuds..it's really a poor man's meal to fill the stomach-the meat added was a plus! Sadly, even today here in France there are children who only have one "real" dinner at school and at home it is "semoule" .We have many North African immigrants here who brought the dish over-and now it's become a "national" dish-kind of like curry in England, I guess. OK, enough blabbing-I'll read back to catch up and then come back. expat xxx
