My cat is not nearly as intelligent as that - if we just run the can opener (without there even being a can in it) she will come running!Recluse;1143850 wrote: Cats are more intelligent than they let on sometimes. If I puncture a can with a tin opener, I count to three and Poppy is there, begging. And she can tell the difference between a tin of tuna and a tin of baked beans, for example.Coco

How many times can you do it in a row before she realises that it's trickery?Coco-Nut;1143851 wrote: My cat is not nearly as intelligent as that - if we just run the can opener (without there even being a can in it) she will come running!I'll do whatever it takes

That's an interesting point. We scarcely open any cans (cat food, tuna, maybe some soup occasionally - because I don't like canned stuff generally) but there it sits, taking up prime real estate on my rather small kitchen counter. (Think I'll go home and bury it in the yard.)tiptronic_ct;1143856 wrote: And do you really open so many cans that it justifies having an electric opener? Or is it just an American thing to automate everything that can be?Coco

Mind I get proper ginger, garlic, cardamon pods and nutmeg but that's about as exotic as it gets.It could be worse, I could be filing.
