If it worries you, you could always offer to take the 3 days as part of your annual leave. I've done that kind of thing in the past when I've felt bad about taking time off, even though it was necessary.

3 days in 3 months is f-all. I have a team member who has only worked 2 full weeks in the past two months. He is using annual leave, sick leave as well as trying to use his kid as an excuse. Believe me, you're a model of productivity by comparison.

I think for her I still haven't made up for my mistakes. When I drink I can talk nonsense - nothing violent or abusive but silly stuff about "Oh maybe we won't work out". I forget it. She doesn't

That is kinda what I mean, yes. And that sometimes we bend over backwards too far in order to try and make amends.

Mmmmm... just thinking out loud here... How about next time she reminds you of something you said / did, instead of becoming defensive, you give her a huge kiss and hug and tell her not to be silly. That is assuming that you become defensive (I know I do).
