      Hello Troopers!!

I'm a little late posting here as I'd been visiting other threads first. I left kind of suddenly last night and so just want to comment on a couple of yesterday's posts...

Having hard time with cravings. All well at home. Feel bad posting this as I have been doing so well.
Am I a bad example? That is what stops me posting my feelings sometimesMrs. A, you are a shining example of someone who has an amazing amount of strength and willpower. You started running only a few years ago and here you are winning in your age group and making new records time after time. How could you not be a good example? Just because AL is still trying to get you down and you're struggling with cravings? There's not one of us here that doesn't. Some of us give in more often, while still trying to find their way, some of us give in once in a while, some of us manage not to. I think you're a very strong woman who is, like the rest of us, is fighting a very difficult disease, addiction, call it what you will. Nothing should stop you posting your feelings. That is what this forum is all about. Helping others and helping ourselves. It is a support forum and it's here for just that reason - to support those who are fighting AL, trying to fight AL, beating AL or trying to come to terms with their addiction. We are all in various stages of our very own journey towards sobriety but basically all on the same road.

All I have to say is that I wish you luck in finding the best help available for your son. Is there someone in your area who specializes in teen psychology? Different than adult or child psychology since, as we all know, the teen years are the most difficult. And just because your son's cousin committed suicide, doesn't mean your son will. I know this must be very difficult for you to go through but I'm sure with the right help, your son will get through this and come out a stronger and happier person. And just knowing that you want to help him as much as you can will help him feel that he is not alone while going through these difficult years. Sending you much love and strength...:huggy

OK well to Mrs A: If he refuses to desist from tormenting you by asking for g&t's tell him you will help yourself to his stash of wine starting with his best bottle. If this doesnt effect a change then take the most expensive you can find and pour it down the sink then present him with the empty bottle. Ball is then back in his court.
KTAB - you gave me quite the chuckle with this. Mind you, I've read further down and know that luckily, Mrs. A won't have to resort to plan B...

Afternoon all. It sounds like good advice Recluse.

Well the Dublin lot must have been saying mammy prayers today.

Mr A and myself went for our flu jabs (on account of our great age)
The practice nurse called us both in together but before the injection she said we were down for a bit of health check
She had my blood results which are normal and liver function way down on last year.
My weight is 2 stone lighter than the previous weigh in and she asked how many units I drank weeklyB/P etc all good and normal

Then for Mr A increase in weight all results not so good and on the units question he was honest and said 12.

The nurse then explained that my good results were probably due to the lack of alcohol:h

Mr A has decided to go AF until Christmas TA DA
He was very impressed with my results
All I have to say is :goodjob:. I'm so pleased for you that Mr. A has heard the little wake-up bell. You must be very relieved and perhaps this is what you needed to help you feel a little less glum. :l to you too...

Jackie - hope you've had a wee rest. Must have been a tiring but enlightening day...

Tips - just now saw your post. That's crap. We've been through it several times and it sucks. Just plain sucks...

I hope you had insurance on the lappy, and you get the cards stopped and the docs reported. Bad timing with it being the weekend. Absolute bummer. (

Mrs A... I would say that was a timely doctor's visit! Problem solved tout de suite and you didn't even need to start pouring his wine out!

Tabbers... if I have a "situation" in the future I will be seeking your cunning advice!!! ) xx
                      Horrible stuff for tips

What train where you on when you got robbed??

As for the health check today-- What a gift. I still might pour the wine away just to please myself.
Mind you if I sold it all I could buy a cottage in the country. I looked one bottle up and it is worth ?350 and he has 1200 not all that expensive.

Anyway happy to be still OK and ready for a run/race in the morning

Blimey! I'm not surprised you still feel violated zenny. :l I've been dead lucky so far - never been robbed, burgled, had my car broken into or anything like that. I'm very careful over security matters though (my house is lit up like a beacon all through the night), and that may have helped.
