WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR THIS THANKSGIVING?

    Hi to everyone here!

Today is the start of Thanksgiving week here in the US. Our holiday is on Thursday and at the core of this holiday is the theme of giving thanks. However, methinks that this theme gets lost amongst the glorious turkey and all the fixings, the whirlwind of travel and catching up with relatives, and all the preparations and anticipation of this November holiday, which catapults us into the frenzy of the Christmas season. In our family, when everyone is seated and we are about to dig into TG dinner, we go around the table and state what we are thankful for. In years past, when I was the family member hosting TG, I sent out invitations and asked guests to bring a flower to add to a "gratitude bouquet", and although the bouquet was a mish-mash of colors and blooms, it was utterly beautiful in it's own way, since my family contributed to building it. It would then become our centerpiece. In addition, when they brought their flower, I asked them to write on a piece of paper, what they were grateful for. After dinner, we would shuffle these papers in a hat and then go around the table and pick one. So, the reader would not be the same as the writer, and it was a fun way to read someone's elses thoughts of gratitude as well as have your own paper read by someone else.

As I woke up this morning thinking about what I am grateful for (I do this every day upon rising), I thought this would be a perfect time to post a gratitude link on MWO to kick off TG holiday week. So, I'll start off, here are the things in life that I am most grateful for. Please add your own list and remember to live in the "Attitude of Gratitude"...not just for Thanksgiving but every day. You will see positive changes coming your way by living in this state of mind. I know I do!

    I am most thankful for:

    My Health
    My loving and wonderful Husband
    My family and my friends
The health of all those I love
    My Sobriety
MWO and all of the beautiful people here that I am getting to know :l
My cozy home, food to fill my belly, water to drink, clothes to keep me warm and a roof over my head!
    A full-time job that I enjoy
    My adorable pets
    My Youth
My appreciation of being mindful of the present moment
Nature and the elements-not only in the height of summer but also the dead of winter and everything in between
    A sense of humor
    A sense of humility
    A sense of peace
    Quiet time alone
    My spirituality
    Books
The fact that life is a journey and that each day is unique. It's the journey to savor and not the destination!

There is so much more I could go on about but then I'd never get this thread started :H

Please jump in and share your thoughts on gratitude. Happy Thanksgiving to all!:h

WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR THIS THANKSGIVING?

        My health
My Sobriety and nicotine free life
        My faith and my salvation
My families (real, church, and online)
        To god and Jesus Christ
        To you all
I am thankful to be me.

Those are the things that I am thankful for this year.
I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR THIS THANKSGIVING?

Blonde Ambition, your list could have been mine except I am so grateful for my one year old first grandchild, a lovely little girl who, although she only sees me every two weeks or so, always puts her pudgy arms up to be lifted when we meet. She has been the catalyst for all the work I have done in controlling my alcohol intake.

I feel so lucky to live in a tiny cottage by the river that costs next to nothing
I feel blessed to have absolutely no friction in my relationship with my fiance
I am thankful for my genes; my body does not want to be fat and I sure do try
I am grateful to have the money to live a life that lacks nothing although our needs are simple
I am very thankful that every Canadian Thanksgiving (early October) and Christmas all of mine and hubby's kids and grandkids show up to be together.
I am thankful that I have begun my spiritual journey and have been sober enough to read inspiring books and blogs most evenings
            And the list goes on...
            Tipplerette

I do this for my children, my grandchildren, my health, my peace of mind, and mostly for the opportunity to learn to live with my true, unfiltered, clear-headed, vulnerable self.

WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR THIS THANKSGIVING?

I am thankful that I have 3 beautiful kids who will never see me drunk.

I am grateful that my family and friends are proud of me.

I am grateful for my spirituality and the sober, open mind to explore it.

I am grateful I stopped the madness before I reached 40 years old.

I am grateful that, although I don't have much money, I won't be spending what little I have on booze.

I am grateful that I have lists of things to do for the holiday season and not ONE of them involves drink.

I am grateful for the positive changes in my appearance and even more grateful when people notice.

I am grateful that, these mornings, I WANT to get up and face the day.

I am grateful that my eyes are bright and my tongue is clean and pink.

I am grateful that I no longer smoke.

I am grateful that I can socialise quite happily with drinkers and not feel like I am missing out.

I am grateful that I woke up to the fact that alcohol is poison to me.

I am grateful that I have remembered that in times of stress.

I am grateful for the fact that I do not miss drink, not even a little bit.

I am grateful that I now look like myself with friends in photographs instead of a demented couger.

I am grateful I have my life back.

I am grateful I have let the past go.

I am grateful that I only live in the now.

I am grateful for my new friends who also don't drink.

I am grateful for my good friends from this site (you know who you are)

I am grateful I no longer feel sorry for myself.

I am grateful I no longer blame others for my own mistakes
              .
I am grateful that I accept responsibility for myself always.

I am grateful that because I gave up drinking, I had the courage to learn to drive.

I am grateful for my lovely little red car.

I am grateful for the pride I take in my home.

I am grateful that I now feel like a worthwhile and loving person who MATTERS

I am grateful for my sobriety

I am grateful to have changed my life around.

I am grateful I am living instead of existing.

I AM GRATEFUL I HAVE FOUND MY WAY OUT.
