    all fine here - which to be honest feels a little unfair, as Wellington is supposed to be the worst place in the country for earthquakes. However, it also means that building standards are really high to minimize risk, and I haven't even felt some of the recent ones. And the Regional Council has been much more insistent on compliance with building codes since the Feb 22 earthquake - there are a number of buildings that have been demolished since then (including my favourite cafe :upset, and an even larger number that have been given 18 months to come up to the most up-to-date building code standard.

          I've just been on the blower to my friends in Chch. Apparently it has been a really bad one, but centered slightly off Pegasus Bay, so has mainly affected coastal properties. These were badly affected in Feb, so don't have anyone living in them at the moment. The good news is that a lot of people had had the day off or gone home early, so families are together.

                yes, but he is on holiday in Taupo! Latest news says he is desperately trying to get home but Chch airport is closed!! (probably not for much longer though)

                      Just dropped in for a minute to catch up.
                      Reggie, I hope you and your mum have a beaut Christmas.

                      Missy, looks like something is happening fast and unstable geologically speaking.
                      My thoughts are with those New Zealanders caught up in it .

                      Going out in a sec to look at Christmas lights... missed out last night. Would you believe there's a website somewhere that tells you addresses to go to?

                      Gurney lent to neighbour TICK

                      Car filled with petrol which amazingly jumped 15 cents a litre overnight.... TICK
                      Christmas decorations out TICK
