Sorry satz, I missed your posts. I'm not very good at this, so will prob get it all wrong, but what is it you are afraid of? Have you identified a particular reason or reasons why you drink?

Drinking wise fine it's the rest of me that's falling apart, i have got back trouble that's leaving me in bad shape , lots of painkillers but they don't kill the pain and have months more to wait for an MRI .

Back pain can be an absolute bugger MM, so I think you're doing really well not to use drink to anaesthetize the pain. Do you know what the problem is, or is that what the MRI scan is for? Why do you have to wait so long for the scan? Sorry, not familiar with the healthcare system in Ireland.

Look's like a ruptured disk pressing on the sciatic nerve, lots of different pain going down the leg MRI will confirm this and then they will decide what they want to do .
The health care here is crap unless you have insurance and guess what i don't, never thought i'd need it.
if i pay for it i could have one this week in the same hospital that told me i'd have to wait 11 months, i feel like it's blackmail , my GP is trying to get one sooner .

Good to see you Madmans but sorry to hear about your back. I hope your GP can get you seen to before 11 months!:l That's mad!
Satz-I hope you come back and let us know how to help you hon. Sometimes it really helps to talk things out with people who understand. I was a wine drinker too. x
I have to feed the child but I'll be back laters.

Eleven months is completely ridiculous for a problem like that MM, I hope your GP can do something to shorten the waiting time.
