Crying from happiness, you understand. I get very emotional at things like this. I even teared up last September when younger son became Godfather to a darling little boy. Things like that are taken very seriously here. It's a life-long commitment. The Godfather gives the child it's name. Even tho' the parents have chosen the child's name, the Godfather actually has the right to change it. The priest asks "Who gives this child it's name?" and the Godfather/mother replies "I do." Then the priest asks "What name do you give him" and the Godfather/mother then states the child's name. It was very touching especially seeing younger son's face when he was holding his godchild. You would have thought it was his own child.
