Who else is on Antabuse?

Hi Boozer,
I have been on Antabuse a looong time. I take 250mg a day. The starting dose is 500mg/day for one week, then 250mg/day thereafter. Personally, if I take any less than that, it clears out of my system in 3-5 days...and I don't want that. I want a nice solid supply at all times. Antabuse has saved me. I don't know if I would have been able to quit without it. I plan to take it indefinitely, and I don't see it as a "crutch", I see it as a TOOL that I plan to use for as long as it takes. Let us know how you are doing!

Thanks K9 Lover. I know I could not have gone this far without AB. I have had the odd cravings, very severe the first few days, but now 14 days in it doesn,t seem that bad. I am allways on guard, as I am well aware of the mind games al can play. I guess for the next week its one day at a time. HAVE had a few social functions without a problem, the hr before arriving is allways the worst. Many people say days 13/14 is a turning point with cravings and it generally becomes easier at this point??? Thanks for being around and offering support!!

Forgot to mention,it is a beautiful morning in OZ. Looking fwd to being able to do lots of things without a hangover. AB has taken me further than anything I have tried previuosly

I dont get headaches from AB but my doseage is quite low, as I said, 1/2 tab once or twice a day. However, they do appear when I am under stress and have more tension in my life than normal. It is probably easier for me tough becuase I dont work any mmore and my children have left home. The biggest problem I have is AL and a SO who loves a drink!!

BTW, for those who may remember me, I survived our anniversary AL free -didnt even look for it. Sooooo pleased with myself and am convinced its the Topa.

MamaBear, No headaches here, no side effects except for a small amount of tiredness. Could this be due to no al intake?

HI all,
Yes i am on the AB wagon as well. as others have said ... It has saved my life. i don't get headaches, i am taking 250mg as well. Mine are capsules so i can't cut in half but the doasage seems to be fine. In the beginning i was taking it daily and at about 3 weeks i had a severe acne breakout. AB was the only thing i was taking so i tapered back to 1 pill every 2-3 days.. now its once a week or if i am attending a big drink fest party... seems to be working out. i have not taken one in in awhile now and I didn't drink or even want to during the easter weekend.
